OO what been going on here then? We had trolls?

No one messes with the Husistas and gets away with it!

Dave yes the Nini looks good ironed . def keep it!

Cherries I sent you a pm ..

I have v short hair as you know , ( which i know isn't the same) but the reason its v short is because - OK deep breath , ill admit it - (brave) When I was a teen I developed Trichotillomania ( OCD hairpulling) and although i do of course still have it , I've got it pretty much completely under control now. But had many year s of partial bald spots ...

I'm sure that doesnt help yu cherries because i used to hide mine.. (never wore wigs though ) but just so you know I can emphasise even though mine was supposedly 'self inflicted'.(I hate people telling like my DM me that btw,... like i really wanted to do it Hmm)

I keep mine v short now because once i had managed to get it under control a bit, it was the only way i can stand it .. But i've got used to it now, I still cant bear too much hair so you never grow it.

So.. life with short or partial hair.. as you know you either hide it or rock it.. ...
I never was able to rock it , but if i had been brave enough id have probably gone for big eye make up , red lippy and earrings.. ( definitely NOT a tattoo as Ive know other 'trichs' do .I also think 'embrace the blonde' is a good strategy . In the 'trich community' its quite a mantra.. pale blond and thin really doesn't look so noticeable..

OK i feel quite worried posting this her although gawd knows I've spouted on about it enough on other forums ..
Here goes ... .. (please be nice everyone)

Laska5772 · 06/06/2018 19:44

and on another note ..back to clothes and sizing..
A couple of weeks ago - if you remember- i bought 2 pairs of Next cropped jeans duck egg blue and yellow sz12

I wore the blue today but after driving to work and sitting on office chair for a morning , they had stretched so much i kept having to hoik them up.
so I went back to Next wearing them and complained.. 'oh yes' they said 'they do stretch' and there and then they offered to exchange for a 10..so I did. ! A 10!! , which i wore the rest of the day and are really comfortable.. Ive reordered the yellow in 10and will return the others which Ive not worn yet.
I had to have 14 in Gap jeans over the weekend.( though didnt buy them)

Then this evening got home and an ASOS parcel 2 Superdry gingham sleeveless shirts, One 14 and one 16 ( because i know Superdry come up small) . the 16 was like a size 10 - literally a 4 inch gap between button and holes when i tried it on.. the 14 was much bigger! . (but still not right so going back ...

Clothes sizes are so ruddy frustrating .I usually start with M or 12 bottoms and 14 tops , but you never know.. I have Hush XS somethings and L in others!

That’s hard as well, Laska. You’re brave to be out about it.

I was 19 the first time I lost my hair - thick wavy hair down to my bum to bald as an egg within 17 days. I didn’t wear wigs that first time as the dermatologist gave me a prescription for a ‘cranial prosthesis’ Confused. I had to take it to this dingy little department called medical appliances, right in the basement of the hospital. Even the heating pipes in the corridor were above your head it was so submerged. An ancient clerk toddled out, looked at the prescription and went ‘curly or page boy? You’re probably better with page boy at your age’ and the next question was ‘black, Brown, yellow or orange?’ , and I was then handed a rat in a brown bag. I had hysterics when I opened it and swore I’d never wear a wig. A mistake probably as it’s stopped me investigating it again over the years. It’s been a relapsing remitting picture ever since, and I always felt worried as I was in remission for a few years when I met and married my DH, and was afraid it would be an awful shock for him. In fact he’s always been fine, and he says he loves the shaved head, he prefers it to wigs I suspect. Blonde definitely helped when I was at an inbetween stage. It makes me sad when I see young women devastated about their hair loss, sleeping in wigs, refusing to let partners see them etc, it must be a nightmare to live like that. Even the man I was with the first time was supportive - I think he thought it was edgy.

This latest relapse which started in August feels like it might be more or less permanent - every time the remission isn’t as good as the previous time and I think I’ve passed a point of no return. Hey ho. It is what it is. I try and be out because I think it’s important for other women to see it’s not the end of the world.

But I never go hairless without red lippie Grin. And I’m very lucky that I have retained brows and lashes.

Laska5772 · 06/06/2018 20:08

lol rat in a bag! Poor you ! but that about sums up what they used to do.. DM took me to docs and thats about what hey suggested for me . apart from the helpful advice to stop doing it

Actually cherries Ive found once i tell people i get loads of people telling me they do the same or similar (compulsive cheek biting, picking etc etc).

I found a support group in the early 90s online when the internet was young (was lucky enough to work at a university where we had it ) and that helped so much .. but at the time very little was talked about it apart d from psychiatrist and people labeling all OCD as madness.
Finding the support group( and it turned out that there were hundreds of us in the end really helped. I went to the US to meed fellow trichys and was even interviewed on the John Peel 'Home Truths' show (remember that?) with an American 'trich' friend.. and loads of people contacted our group after.. i like to think that we helped put it in out the open..

Phew! once i talk bout it I'm pretty brave .(and I'm glad I did , iv often wanted to when you've mentioned the wigs but never have on MN which can be pretty brutal as we know ) Smile .I never had any prob getting BFs though because of it it .and Dh certainly didnt mind

Laska5772 · 06/06/2018 20:09

it must have been utterly devastating for you to lose it so quickly cherries

SoyYo · 06/06/2018 20:17

Respect laska and cherries 👊

ilovecherries · 06/06/2018 20:25

I’m glad you did too. Group hug. Smile

Laska5772 · 06/06/2018 20:31

xxx Soy .. I love your hair btw, and do love lovely long hair on others but just couldn't manage it on me.. I do have a full head of hair now though and as long as its short can 'cope' with having it ..

BTW All ( now cherries and I have secretly snuck in and grabbed one each! hee hee) .. There is at least one midnight Venice beach dress in M on the Hush website

AFingerofFudge · 06/06/2018 20:40

Aw, respect all round to you guys! I really really like this thread and feel like I'm with like-minded people. I've never dared venture on to other S&B boards but here I feel we're all in it together, finding our way through the world of fashion. I am late forties (I can't imagine that's true but it is!Grin) For the first time in a very long time, if ever, despite the fact I'm a stone and a half more than I want to be, I feel much more able to express myself in my clothing, and, as corny as it sounds, the combination of Hush and this thread have helped me to do that.

Of course there are things to bash Hush about, their crappy returns system, the creased clothing, but they have found a usp for my fashion tastes!!!

SoyYo · 06/06/2018 21:38

Finger I agree with you, I’m a bit podgy right now too and I find Hush quite forgiving and size wise you can go up/down a size with things still fitting which is a real bonus and we all realise the advantages/disadvantages so hey welcome on board again.
One of the reasons I post here as often as I do is as much about Hush as finding positive, inspiring and like minded peeps...as I said I’ve stayed well clear of MN despite my love of S&B due to the bitchiness and sometimes the clickiness of other threads. I’m a free spirit and can’t be arsed with all the judgement from the style police Grin

laska my curly hair is as much a blessing as a curse...I HATED it growing up, too long a story but really longed for straight hair...I’ve made my peace with it now and learnt to embrace the frizziness that comes with curls, it’s a daily reminder I cannot control everything in my life Wink and btw I’m so impressed by your weight loss as I imbibe my second glass of Malbec this eve Blush

Dave I hope you’re having a rocking good gig!

And with that night night and see what fashion news tomorrow brings.
cherries do post your new cats eyes sunglasses and other accessories purchases. We’ll always reply honestly (but never nastily) you know that.

Seafour · 06/06/2018 22:24

Absolutely no Hush but it's my birthday and DH took me out for dinner. I'm wearing a Nancy Mac dress with Irregular Choice shoes and bag.

Seafour · 06/06/2018 22:40

neveradullmoment99 · 06/06/2018 22:40

Hello again. Cherries I agree with everyone else. You have such a positive attitude as you have had it tough with your hair loss. . I cant imagine losing all my hair so young and so quickly. How terrifying. You must have been devastated. Many, many years ago I met a young girl who was a nanny in the nursery that my children were at. She had lost all her hair. She wore a wig and must have been early twenties. I really cant imagine having to cope with that at that age or any age really Flowers

Laska, you too. Glad you kicked the habit and things got better for you Flowers I used to pick my lip until it bled and got sore. Its funny how you pick up these things.

Well it was the first day of wearing my Hush wide leg side stripe trousers. Wore them with my navy tee and fly London sandals. I felt
good in them. Nice and light and airy as it has been about 24 here today!

Seafour you look amazing! I love your dress. Very classy and beautiful.

Ellapaella · 06/06/2018 22:44

Never the contrast stripe trousers? I'm still considering those, I love the look of them. Jealous of your weather, been a very chilly 14 degrees here in Newcastle today

neveradullmoment99 · 06/06/2018 22:46

I am at work though and its really sticky and warm in the class and at home in my house. I don't like leaving the windows open with the lights on cause of the bugs. Ella they are nice trousers. If you are tall though, you may struggle length wise. Cherries also has them. She is taller than me.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/06/2018 22:48

I was at work. Obviously not at work now!

ilovecherries · 06/06/2018 23:37

Looking very hot, seafour.

I love the contrast stripe trousers. I’m worried they might shrink though as I’m 5,7 and i really couldn’t wear them any shorter. I was all set to wash them then noticed reviews saying they’d shrunk so I am being a minger, sponge cleaning them and putting them on the line for a good blow every time I wear them Blush. I kinda hoping never will go first. Grin

Ellapaella · 06/06/2018 23:42

Ha ha yes that's my worry cherries - I'm 5'7 and spend most of my day mucking around with my dc or on the beach with the dog. Maybe not the most practical trousers for me if id be too scared to wash them!

EachandEveryone · 07/06/2018 04:51

Seafour that colour is spot on for you. Looks fantastic. I hope you had a good night.

Laska5772 · 07/06/2018 08:27

seafour happy birthday ! hope you had a great time. you are looking fab in that dress. (and glad to see the bootcamp is going well also )

Soy Cherries inspired me to do LC.. really pleased i have .. I had another little 'whoosh' loss today but not recording it yet in case it was a fluke!..
but what is great is that all but my very smallest clothes are wearable again Smile

Im now hoping that the ordered VBD fits me as previously I have found them far too revealing on the bum area.. should come tomorrow but I am away for the weekend so wont be here when it does

ilovecherries · 07/06/2018 10:33

I got new hair mail today :) went a bit crazy in the Bank Holiday sale. I get the VAT off anyway as a medical user but there was also another 30% off for the sale. So I’ve gone blonde for summer in two different styles plus a replacement of the bob I wear for meetings so I don’t confuse the clients.

Laska5772 · 07/06/2018 11:17

Coolio short or long Cherries?
I want my VBD today! impatient but it wont come until tomorrow .. Am going away for weekend early am ..
