Mother of groom dress; keep or return?

mumblechum0 · 06/04/2018 23:55

Bearing in mind:
Wedding is in a Tipi in a field, so I need to wear wedges which I hate, ergo going for a maxi

I know my arms are massive but I’m working on toning them and losing weight

Wedding will be relatively low key, son is only 23 so loads of young people and not many ppl in hats etc.

So my question really is, is it too evening wear-y? Trying too hard?

Honest answers please, I am happy to return it, wedding isn’t till August
TIA

Love he navy Karen Milan one. Much more suitable.

The green one is a killer dress. But for a ball or a cocktail party. Not a field wedding.

Your arms look fine and I love your house.

Surely Morning's is correct? Or Mornings'

Search me 🤣. It's a song title and the band didn't use an apostrophe - helpful!

RebeccaCloud9 · 08/04/2018 16:08

@morningseleven - no it's fine in your username! But a pp referred to your suggestion using an apostrophe ie because it was your (Morning) suggestion. Then she corrected her own use of an apostrophe.

At the risk of being a self obsessed bore arse, I’ve decided on this one from Monsoon even though it’s still a bit glam. This will be the only MOG outfit i’ll ever buy so bugger it Grin

I’m so happy to finally find one! I went wedding dress shopping with the bride and she took about 20 mins to decide on hers 😀

OMG Mumble. Shock
All your dresses are amazing. You look stunning. Promise me you will keep ALL of them!!

DurhamDurham · 09/04/2018 16:50

I think it's a gorgeous dress and you look fab in it, however it might not translate to great photos if lots of them are taken outside next to green fields/grass, you might blend into the background a bit too much.
It's a pity there's nowhere to change as it would be perfect for the nighttime party.

DurhamDurham · 09/04/2018 16:51

Apologies, reading on the train and didn't see follow up pics, that last dress is amazing! Smile

mumblechum0 · 09/04/2018 16:52

Grin thanks all, my head is 4 feet wide now.

I've taken the first one back today, am committed to the Monsoon embroidered one now. Durham, you are right, but I'm very limited by not wearing the same colour as the bride, bridesmaids (2 different colours), or mother of bride. I may wear a pink hi-viz vest on top so I stand out from the vegetation Grin

It really suits you and it is lovely.

Admittedly maybe it is a bit dressy for the wedding that you describe but maybe wearing something you love that is 'you' is preferable to wearing something you don't like much and isn't 'you' but suits the occasion?

BitOutOfPractice · 09/04/2018 17:06

I love the dress and your arms aren't massive you narna!

I don't think it's either low-key or teepee though. It's an evening gown. I'd go funkier.
