Do I wear too much make up? **Pic attached**

I’ve had some people comment lately that I wear too much make up so I’m after honest opinions please? I’ll be reporting asking for the picture to get deleted soon but just want a few opinions first. I love wearing makeup and enjoy doing it and don’t feel it looks too much but maybe I’m not seeing it objectively. Thank you.

You wear a lot more than me, I use foundation a few days a week maybe, but not in the summer. Maybe I might use tube mascara, ALWAYS wear lipstick though! I feel weird and pale without it because I don't have nice pink lips.

My first impression was 'what on Earth is the matter with that? No make-up problem there at all'

Then I read some comments and thought 'okay maybe it's a bit heavy for every day'

But then I realised 'sod it! I wouldn't blink an eyelid if I saw you out and about because it's just your look'.

I am actually quite envious of people who have agreeable skin, time and money to spend the experimenting with make up.

But you've already had honest opinions Confused

OP, it's your face and your choice. Try not to take any notice of what other people think.

Anyway, for every person who thinks it's too much, there'll be someone else who doesn't, so that's why it's better to make peace with your own decisions.

hamburgers · 30/03/2018 11:59

Yes. I know you're trying to go for a natural look here but it's obvious you look a long time applying a heavy foundation, blush, filled in your lips, filled in your eyebrows, took time with your eyeshadow.

You don't need to wear this much makeup.

As for you @Ollivander84 How do you find the time everyday?!

JessicaJonesJacket · 30/03/2018 11:59

I don't think it's about quantity. It's about the colours and application. It's a heavy look for day-time. As PPs have said, if you changed some of the tones then you could still feel 'made-up' but it wouldn't look as heavy. If you moved more to peachy tones for your cheeks and lips, and light gold, beige for your eyes then your make-up wouldn't look as heavy.
You are very pretty and have lovely skin and if wearing make-up makes you happy then ignore everyone else's comments.

Thatsquiteenough · 30/03/2018 11:59

You are very beautiful and I love your make up. Ignore the critics. I imagine they all look like bags of spanners.

deadringer · 30/03/2018 12:00

I think you look really nice, very well groomed and attractive.

Ollivander84 · 30/03/2018 12:00

hamburgers - I just do! I like doing it though, being able to change my face, and find it relaxing. Takes about 15/20 mins so not lengthy

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 30/03/2018 12:00

I wear make up to work, spend 10mins applying and go nude/natural look

I think powder and bronzers are really unnecessary but I know lots of folk love em
Eyebrows au naturel , I’m not a fan of big brows (too TOWIE)

SpringNowPlease2018 · 30/03/2018 12:01

I can't believe you've posted a totally clear photo!

You can do what you like OP but make up, fake tan etc do you want to do it or feel you should? Just curious.

Okaynowimconfused · 30/03/2018 12:01

You look nice. I wear a heavy foundation due to complextion issues but it seems to me your natural completion is flawless? So I'd definitely go for a less heavy foundation.

I think you contour as well? I don't do that but I know it is big in the make up industry and if you enjoy applying make up etc. then I can see why you would take the time to do it yourself. Contouring is something many people don't do and seems that bit extra so in that sense it is too much. I could be wrong and you don't contour of course!

Lippy is nice. I would say your eyebrows look to obviously done up imo and I think that of the professionals as well. It's a trend that looks good on camera but not so much in real life.

ASAS · 30/03/2018 12:01

Erm, am I the only one thinking this is either:

A stealth boast - if you're real you are beautiful, test smile!

Or revenge porn - are you an ex posting this hoping we'll all say she looks shit? (we won't)

Slowtrain2dawn · 30/03/2018 12:01

You’re beautiful and have an amazing smile. Wear less or wear more, you will still be gorgeous. If people are criticising your make up it may be because they’re jealous or want to put you down in some way.

Okaynowimconfused · 30/03/2018 12:01

Oh and who cares what others think OP. Don't let them make you feel insecure. Do what you enjoy!

ASAS · 30/03/2018 12:02

Great smile even

JackietheBackie · 30/03/2018 12:03

I don’t think it looks badly applied, but it is a bit heavy and matt. I certainly get the appeal of make-up and it is a valid form of creativity and self expression. I think you should experiment with more colour and sparkle to enhance your natural features rather than flatten them. Love your lipstick though.

I think 'good on you' for asking. I have a friend who HUGELY outlines and fills her lips, including into the corners, I so wish she would ask for opinions, I never dare offer mine!

TempusFugitive · 30/03/2018 12:04

I don't think so, can see you have a bit on but presume you were on your way somewhere, like work.

If you were on your way to tesco and then to the gym then maybe I'd suggest that you not bother, but it's your choice!

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 30/03/2018 12:04

It’s hard to have a sensible convo about make up as someone always rocks up to say its chemical sludge and no woman looks good with it. Followed by the inevitable command to go make up free

ShaversOnly · 30/03/2018 12:05

Ditch the fake tan and get a different colour lighter foundation shade, will suit your features more. Pale is in. Fake tan orange is out.

KingPrawnOkay · 30/03/2018 12:05

It doesn’t look too much for me at all, but I do wear makeup every day. To me this would be a daily look and I think you look lovely, don’t see how it’s blended badly or too dark at all. Unsure what the commenters saying it’s gothic are on about - clearly they have never seen a goth Hmm

Mumek · 30/03/2018 12:06

You look lovely and personally I don't think it's too much, just a dewier finish foundation may look lighter. I absolutely love make up - it also helps protect your skin. Enjoy wearing as much as you like.

TheReins · 30/03/2018 12:06

I don't think it's too much but I would say the foundation is too dark. You also need to blend out the eyeshadow more and work on your eyebrow filling technique (it has taken me a long time and countless you tube vids to get mine right). I think it's just more about your technique than the amount as you can see you're wearing makeup rather than it looking natural IYSWIM.
I know lots of people that wear a lot of make up but it's doesn't look too much as they are really good at blending and making it look natural. I have other friends that rarely wear makeup and wear minimal when they do but it looks like they are wearing more as they don't blend it correctly.
I have found that the key is all in the blending and using the correct shade of foundation.

TravellingTulip · 30/03/2018 12:06

I used to be overweight and makeup was a big thing for me. I could feel okay about my face even if I didn't about my body. I don't go anywhere without my face like this so maybe it is too much. It's been my mask for a long time I suppose.

ChipInTheSugar · 30/03/2018 12:07

I think it looks fine - I'm using the phone app so can't see the 'heavy' foundation PPs speak of.

Lipstick is a lovely colour - what is it? Mac?
