Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 5 Thread 6 Thread 7 Thread 8 Thread 9 Thread 10
Thread 11 Thread 12

For those who are taking a peek and wondering what this all about, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients (rather than the latest new shiny product and all its empty promises) for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Newcomers are always welcome but please note the following:

Questions and asking for help on this thread is encouraged, however, we can’t give you a specific routine to follow and hope it works out for the best. There are no overnight miracles in skincare whether it be in the form of products or techniques. It’s about perseverance, understanding your skin, assessing its needs and responding to that in a diligent manner.

These threads were created to help those who want to learn for themselves. We’re a group of interested and invested skincare nuts happy to offer tea and sympathy and dole out advice. Everyone’s journey with skincare is different, what is universal and binds us is that through actually learning about the different active ingredients it helps us get to know our skin and help us adapt as it will change many times throughout our lives - with seasons, hormonal changes, ageing, genetics etc. It's in everyone's best interests to get to know their skin and to keep reviewing those changes with the confidence that comes from the gathered knowledge here. We really encourage you to spend the time reading through previous threads and linked info sheets that the many contributors have taken the trouble to share.

By no means are we experts, we're only a bunch of amateurs that can only respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

I am very slowly working on consolidating the gathered information from previous threads into easier to read formats but it’s slow going. I would suggest reading thread 1 and at the very least the following info sheets (provided they apply to you):

Where to Start

Basics of an Actives Routine

Skin Types vs. Skin Conditions Info Sheet

Anti-Ageing Info sheet

Adult Acne Info Sheet

A Damaged Skin Barrier - Now What?

MARCH 2018: We managed to live through hairmageddon without any major losses. We welcomed some new inquisitive faces, reunited with some much missed old ones, and are delighted at the thought of a baby snail on its way. Now, all we need is the weather to start cooperating and match the levity in our moods…

Is amazon ok to buy it from??

botemp · 27/04/2018 10:37

I got mine from Amazon and it was sold by Amazon, but I ordered from Amazon Germany and it took quite a while to arrive/dispatch so I assume it was sent from Amazon Greece or similar. Not sure what the UK one is like, you can order from them directly on www.frezyderm.co.uk or at Beauty Mart which is a trusted retailer with a physical store in London. Shipping is free with BM so probably not a bad deal but unsure whether MN will get a cut of that sale and up my enabler VIP status Grin

GrinGrin yes it's not a very big tube Bo. 20g. So actually not teeny tiny.

Forgot to ask about SPF 50 but she told me sun protection and hat. Will have to double check with her.

Just want to be rid of these spots and the scarring. Angry

SophieLion · 27/04/2018 10:48

Thanks Mint. I remember noticing the glass beads ingredient when I checked for Bo a while ago. Sounds very odd doesn't it?

mintmagnummm · 27/04/2018 11:03

Ordered! 😬. Yes Sophie it's a very odd ingredient but at least you now know it's nothing to worry about!

TantricTwist · 27/04/2018 11:25

Oh God now I'm ordering the Frezyderm too Grin

mintmagnummm · 27/04/2018 11:58

Tant 😂😂

mintmagnummm · 27/04/2018 11:59

Got mine from amazon as the frezyderm website was being naughty and the other one bo linked were out of stock

SophieLion · 27/04/2018 13:01

True, true Mint. Might have a google though to see what glass beads do in an SPF.... am curious Grin
*
Bo,* derm said generally I should be avoiding the sun. If I am avoiding the sun and wearing a hat and in out the house (so not in sun much) then SPF 30 ok but if more sun exposure likely then hat plus at least SPF 50
And still try to avoid sun by staying in shade. So I think it's SPF 50 really but she's trying to avoid me wasting the SPF 30.

SophieLion · 27/04/2018 13:09

Had a quick google. Couldn't find anything from FrezyDerm about its glass beads but an Israeli company's website (2002) says:

"The company has a proprietary method of entrapping the active ingredients of sunscreen molecules in silica glass beads to prevent direct contact with the skin and absorption into the body. This is important, since as sunscreen molecules absorb ultraviolet light, free radicals may develop and interact with the body, causing skin damage. According to the company, its products provide safe and inert ultraviolet filters that do not penetrate the skin, even hours after application."

Although I note that the FrezyDerm SPFs have silica as a separate ingredient too.

miffy2 · 27/04/2018 13:51

Going to look at that frezyderm myself :)

£10 off a spend of £40 on space NK and similar offers on cultbeauty. Both uk based and I think both offer free shipping with a certain spend. Worth checking out as they now both stock hourglass. Just saying ;)

MrsDOnofrio · 27/04/2018 14:14

Can I join the sheep please? I’ve been searching for a sunscreen holy grail for years. Going to give this a go (will ignore the 6 bottles of other sunscreen in my cupboard Blush)

mintmagnummm · 27/04/2018 14:21

MrsD join us 😁

SophieLion · 27/04/2018 15:58

Bo, how big is the tret prescription cream that you can buy where you are for €30?

SallieSallow · 27/04/2018 18:29

Glad I'm not the only sheeple baaaaaaa 🐑🐑🐑 Grin

My frezyderm has been dispatched, I ordered mine from amazon.

Bo Beautylish charged me $74.40 US for the hourglass palette including customs fees and p&p which came to just over £53. Not massively cheaper than space NK but every £ counts plus I already have an account with them so was quick and easy. Delivery might be a bit slower but they were quite fast (took about a week) last time I used them.

SophieLion · 27/04/2018 18:32

I also only just realised that Medik8 is a play on the word medicate Blush. How silly am I?! Wonder what animal that makes me...

JDSTER · 27/04/2018 19:16

Oh my, I come back after a day or two and it’s frezyderm frenzie here Grin

mintmagnummm · 28/04/2018 06:24

I want my frezyderm NOW!!!

Grin* JDSTER* frezyderm frenzy has to be in next title!

JDSTER · 28/04/2018 09:09

Helps if I actually spelled frenzy correctly GrinGrin

EnidButton · 28/04/2018 12:43

Frenzie sounds like a 90's clothing brand. Grin

JDSTER · 28/04/2018 13:30

Grin Enid. Someone on here uses an olay eye cream I think? Is it the ultimate eye cream? My colleague would like an eye cream for their birthday. She’s not a skincare nerd by any stretch of the imagination but I wanted to get her something decent that she could repurchase easily if she wanted.

MrsDOnofrio · 28/04/2018 14:30

Amazon have delivered my Frezyderm. A back of the hand test is promising. It doesn’t feel like sunscreen though and smells a bit weird but I’m hopeful. True test tomorrow morning on the face.

mintmagnummm · 28/04/2018 16:16

Oh MrsD I'm jealous! I want mine now 😩. When did you order?

MrsDOnofrio · 28/04/2018 16:46

Ordered mine yesterday. Amazon prime

MrsDOnofrio · 28/04/2018 16:47

When did you order yours mint?
