This is week 6 of the third boot camp of 2007, everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Hello everyone. I had to take a couple of weeks off due to massive stress and below zero happiness levels, but am determined to get back on track.

Please have a new 6 week challenge after this one as I have a holiday booked in 6 weeks and serious measures are called for.

I will be starting this one with a "lite" day today due to b/h but will be back with a vengeance tomorrow .

iota · 07/05/2007 12:11

so far so good today, but they day is yet young.
I practised a few pilates moves whilst lying on the sofa - for about 5 mins - I'm sure that's made a huge difference

motherinferior · 07/05/2007 13:05

I started today with a healthy breakfast and 60 lengths.

Since then, though, have consumed a chocolate muffin (home made. Not as fattening as cake. And fair traded chocolate so adding to Sum of Human Happiness, presumably) and roast lamb, and a glass of wine. And we are going out (apparently, despite absolutely pouring rain) to friends' barbecue. Yes, I know it's rather odd to have roast lamb as bbq precursor, but DP went off to Sainsbury's and returned with organic lamb and determination to cook, and mine not to reason why....

foxinsocks · 07/05/2007 18:53

Haven't done well today! Had a lovely day out in Greenwich (got completely drenched) and had done lots of walking till we realised it was around 2ish and we hadn't had lunch. So ended up in Cafe Rouge monstering half the menu and we couldn't go all the way to Greenwich without getting a bag of sweets from ye olde humbug shop (ahem).

Am feeling enthused because I read an article on running for sloths and it has convinced me to dig out my old trainers so I may try a run tomorrow (if I think my body won't collapse from shock). I'm convinced just thinking about running has not only increased my endorphins but paved the way for at least a glass of wine tonight, you know, in anticipation of the exercise.

WideWebWitch · 07/05/2007 19:00

Right, well, I have taken myself in hand. I went for a walk and gave myself a good talking to on the way (wot, out loud? asked dh. Yes, out loud, there was no-one else around, it helped).

So, my mission is to be feeling and looking a LOT better by the time we go for swanky weekend in hotel. I am therefore going to do boot camp proper plus I am going to try to book a personal shopper appt for the day we go or the day before so I have some new clothes. I'm feeling v determined. I am in a size xxx skirt today, xxx being one size away from where I want to be, but it is Monsoon and their sizes do come up large I gather.

So, the pedometer was on and says I have walked 7,800 steps, which is 2.25 odd miles. I know the walk I did (in the rain, it was lovely) was 2 miles
I used sunscreen while walking
used body scrub all over
shaved legs etc
used body lotion all over
Flexitol on feet and will do again tonight
filed nails and used hand cream
Used some facial scrub hmm, my face looks like I had an acid peel now never mind might be ok in the morning
And despite bad breakfast of (organic wholemeal but still) 2 pieces of toast slathered with (organic) butter I think I've recovered well: lunch was rocket salad with fresh anchovies, oil all soaked off on kitchen roll, mackerel, capers, tomatoes, a red pepper, beetroot and I had 1.5 tablespoons of dressing which was about 100 cals
I have had water but probably not enough so will keep going
no wine
and absolutely will be in bed by 10.30 no question, I'm knackered

Yes, a new 6week from next week.

Oh can one of you who has the omron pedometer tell me how to reset it for a new day without losing all my stride settings and stuff? Thanks!

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 07/05/2007 19:07

it just goes over to the next day automatically (I presume at midnight)

and if you want to see what you did the day before, you just press one of the buttons (one on the right I think) - think it said it stores the data for the previous 7 days.

foxinsocks · 07/05/2007 19:09

so you set up your stride, weight, time etc. and it starts counting and that's that. It just ticks over on its own.

WideWebWitch · 07/05/2007 19:11

oh brilliant, thanks FIS.

Right,I don't come on this thread anymore as obviously a smug git but let me pass on a tip for something that is delicious, packed full of goodness and contains about 10 calories,a sort of gazpacho.

Blitz 3/4 tomatoes, two peppers, half a lettuce, stick of celery, half a cucumber and some fresh chilli with a handheld blender.Add juice of half a lemon, some cumin and chill. Before serving, add some ice cubes and blitz again.Bl;oody delicious. I have just necked a litre as needed to clean out salad compartment.

foxinsocks · 07/05/2007 19:37

mmmm that does sound good moonie. Hope work is going well.

WideWebWitch · 07/05/2007 19:41

Sounds good moondog, thanks. Do pop in any time you've got a healthy recipe to share!

Right, I've put goji berries in my shop, arriving tomorrow, what do we all think about wheatgrass shots? Any good? waste of time?

And I've emailed myself at work with numbers of local personal shoppers. And I've got some nubers of yoga teachers, wouldn't mind some 1:1 yoga tuition, it's the only way I'll do it I think.

Evening ladies.
My fave breakfast at mo is porridge (with added bran) and a tin of blackcurrants. You should see my recycling box!

moondog · 07/05/2007 19:43

Work fantastic thanks FIS. I am loving being back. Bloody loving it.

moondog · 07/05/2007 19:44

I'd neck wheatgrass shoots if i could get my hands on them.
Am presently loving soy beans.Defrost a load thern nibble all day.

foxinsocks · 07/05/2007 19:48

Brilliant - hoped that would be the case .

I'm not much of a morning eater but I do love a good bowl of porridge so I might try and incorporate that back into morning time. Sounds yummy with blackcurrants - I hadn't thought of that at all - I love porridge with blueberries, love the sort of tart taste with the sweet porridge (that's if ds hasn't helped me make it and poured a whole load of syrup over it!).

moondog · 07/05/2007 19:54

It's great FIS.
Just drain off the juice.
Full of antioxidants.
Porridge so unbelievably heeling and soothing.
I needed it this w/end as celebrated my 40th on weekend and drank loads and smoked lots of fags.

Outside of course. No smoking malarkey in now in Wales.
