This is week 6 of the third boot camp of 2007, everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Iota, yuk at spiders

Right so is 8h cream any good?

WWW, yep it is the Omron one. It's fab. But I do think it is going to bring me down to earth with a bump especially as it says to lose weight one needs to be doing 12-15,000 steps a day!

However, I had another compliment today which is nice.

winnie · 09/05/2007 19:36

Sobernow Can I recommend rescue remedy? Or a large glass of something alcholic

lol Sobernow
have some wine, go on, I can enjoy it vicariously since I am boot camp proper and you are a size TWELVE,

Winnie, I'm shocked at 12000 too since I'm only doing 6500 - 7000 and thinking it's quite good and actually it's not enough to lose weight, boo hoo hoo (like the boo hoo baybee)

If you were to invest in one of our Omrons, to start with you tell it how fat you are (not a lovely moment) and how long your stride is, and based on that it will tell you how many steps in total, how many were aerobic, how far you have stomped, how many calories you've burned and what that means in terms of fat reduction.
It is honestly a fab gadget sobernow and very motivating!

Sobernow, you are so funny

Marina · 09/05/2007 23:42

Slimline persons may mock but we are all Omrons together sobernow! My pedometer is a lot kinder than my mother actually. And it can be clipped to my bra so I don't have to look at it, too.
Love the rhyme about drinks of the week btw

moondog
the point about doing yoga is one should take instruction from brutish instructor and then practice daily oneself at every opportunity, being continually mindful of posture. That is proper yoga. And it WILL tone you up. Don't make me reach down the interweb and grab your hairy hand and make you feel my lower back musculatur.

I am back on now, after a lapse of nachos and white wine last night. I hate white wine, what was I thinking?

Off to do my 10 sun salutations in the garden now and trying not to get in to yoga driven scrap with moondog.

WideWebWitch · 10/05/2007 07:30

this morning:

wheatgrass shot
perfect skin vitamin
echinacea
multi vit
granola
asleep by 10.45 last night, no booze
have packed a lunch of lentils, capers, anchovies, chilli, lemon juice
also have goji berries in lunch
an apples
and nuts
have used body lotion this am

Winesday ended badly for me, after making such a good start in the shed-aerobics.

It was something involving playdates, wine and home-made garlic bread - I'll spare you the gory details

Today I may dust off the pedometer and let all you online food-shoopers know how may steps a weekly shop at Tesco generates. oh joy.

foxinsocks · 10/05/2007 09:55

I got to bed FAR too late last night and then slept really badly and have woken up with ds's cold (predictable really, after I got a very snotty good morning kiss on the lips ewwww a few days ago) AND I am stuck inside all day today waiting for the builders and delivery peeps ggrrr.

yoyo - I did the first run yesterday (the 2 mins run, 2 mins walk thing) but I can't find the piece of paper anymore. I know I'm supposed to do that 3 times a week but I can't remember what the next step was. I'll see if I can find it online but if I can't, would you mind just posting what the next run/walk thing was supposed to be.

Marina · 10/05/2007 10:31

FIS - we have the Times here if that helps, let me know what day you need
MI and dino - hope you are both feeling better today
www - we are not worthy! Maximum respect
I have a few days on the razzle coming up too batters, it's just such a pain

foxinsocks · 10/05/2007 10:34

Thanks marina. Have found it online - here if anyone else is interested and just so that I keep tabs on it!

btw, I have that spectator for you marina.

Marina · 10/05/2007 11:16

Oooh, shall I mail you then?

Thanks so much

K

I think I'm gradually sliding into bootcamp mode and may be ready for a full-on assault from next week.

LOL about moron pedometers! Mine is a dodgy Eurohike one that was cheap and has a broken clip so has lived in a drawer for the past 4 years. It doesn't seem to do steps either, just miles. Wonder if I can justify getting a new one.................will go and look then wonder some more.

Doing well on lotions and potions and better at water during the week - really need to work on drinking it at the w/es though.
Sleep hasn't been too bad either though a late night on Friday and a few disturbed ones since means I'm not that bright-eyed ATM - need to work on small children to NOT make demands between 7pm and 7am!

Might have to start confessing what I'm eating as even thinking about doing so is reducing the nibbling - Sobernow how do you survive on so little?

Off into town later to acquire bootcamp recommended face cream and some fabric dye to make bright pink tie-dye t-shirts for DD, DS and I for Mile for Maude on Saturday. Think we are doing it on our own unless anyone else in Bedfordshire wants to join us - been talking to myself on thread for a while

motherinferior · 10/05/2007 12:17

Hi all, and thanks for the good wishes. I'm just, well, rather low. Today seems better, mostly because lovely cousin took charge of the Inferiorettes and DP cooked dinner and we all drank too much , but it's all so...wearing, at the moment. I'm tired, tired, tired, and fed up, and having various tedious domestic wrangles. I want to take some time off and do nothing, and sit around with a novel.

However, I am re-hennaing my hair - must go and remove fetching fleecy hat and wash it out - and have just sent invoices for nearly two grand, which was very cheering. And we're eating bacon sandwiches for lunch , as Exotic English Delicacy for which whippet cousin yearns.

prufrock · 10/05/2007 12:28

I was v. good again yesterday, and managed to resist winesday, even though dh was not in.

Sit-ups in am
Granola (have even switched to skimmed milk)
Peach
Leftover chicken, mange tout, peas and leeks for lunch
drank loads of water and peach juice in early evening so forgot to eat, but had a moondog-esque salad drawer into blender thing at 9pm, and a slice of ham in cherry cola that was lurking lonefully in my fridge. Oh and half a pack of cashews. But NO WINE.

17,000 steps yesterday - the benefits of 3 school runs. But foot is still ruised so not up to anything more strenouos - well that was my excuse
