WideWebWitch · 07/05/2007 09:33

This is week 6 of the third boot camp of 2007, everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

www if you want serenity,go and sit in a church. Or a mosque or a synagogue. Or a library
Costs nowt.

SW 1:1 yoga once a week will not tone you up. Ashtanga yoga every night with a bruit of an instructor might though.
Yes,kissing small kids way up there.

turquoise · 08/05/2007 19:31

Shouldn't be on this thread as currently slurping a glass of wine, but just wanted to put in a word in support of yoga and pilates - need to do it at least three times a week though.
Best thing for real fun toning up IMO is kickboxing/bodycombat - I love it and really looked my best when I was doing it. Can't find any classes in the area now that do it during the day when I'm not working dammit, it seems to be mainly evening which is out of the question for me.
I have been good on the cream/water/sunscreen/sleep front lately - just a bit disillusioned re healthy eating as have lost nothing but norkage.

BOLLOCKS
just typed a LONG post and pressed post and if effing well fking disafkingpeared,

Grrrrrrrrrrr.Still it probably saved you all from boredom

I said well done and thanks and sorry for tmi etc

granola
vitamins a go go
apple
salad
Innocent superfoods smoothie
apple
brazils, walnuts and pine nuts
wholemeal pitta, green pepper and spiced chicken
lots of water
walked half an hour at lunchtime, with sunscreen
took make up off
ate goji berries which taste like cat food but not as nice and must be made of Gold according to dh and ex dh who roundly took the piss and said I'd been conned (they may be right, Tibet my arse)
walked a mere 7,400 steps and since apparently you need 10,000 for health and 12,000 to lose weight...
It was interesting, I looked at it everytime I went to the loo! Gawd knows how I'll fit in 10,000 I'll have to think about it

Personal shoppers, JL haven't replied to my email, HoFraser don't have email so I didn't go further, Debenhams have replied and said they'll book me in so that's all good.

I am feeling happy because I am highly motivated and because I'm going to bed in a minute and I know I will be much less tired tomorrow

Well done everyone.

I've had a good day but having just written long email to dear friend I am wearily heading for bed now. I was awake at 4.50 this morning and did not go back to sleep as ds got up at 5.30!

Glad you are feeling motivated WWW.

Oh and I had a lovely compliment today and surprised myself by flirting

Oh and I bought myself perfume...

I am going ... honest. I plan to get up early tomorrow and exercise

FIS - I shall post how I got on with the running tomorrow. Have now got the IPod armband thingy so I shouldn't get bored.

Had trifle and chocolate biscuits. May have a glass of wine.

ONLY 7000? ONLY 7000? That's what I did today indoor AND out and that INCLUDED my lunchtime walk - I am in AWE of your regular 10,000 steps Batters! And realise now I know my own pitiful step rating that I need to up it considerably

Right my wheatgrass just arrived so I've had a shot. Hmm, immediately washed down with strong black coffee so we'll see. My yoga dvd arrived too but no time to do that before work!

Early night thank god as dd woke at 5.15am again. But due to early alcohol free night I feel ok on it this morning.

It tasted frothy and almost alcoholic in its pungency. And there was a leaflet enclosed about an anti ageing supplement containing shark cartilege, ewww.

Blimey www, I thought I was going rad purchasing some quinoa from Ocado this week. I'm quite sold on supplements (fish oils, cranberry extract, acidophilus) but wheatgrass sounds revolting, you are a very brave woman.
I am doing quite a bit of strutting at work too sobernow but I get to walk more around the place than most office workers do I guess.
Good luck to FIS and yoyo with the S Times running thingy - I am sticking with brisk walks until I feel fitter and have lost some more weight.
What perfume did you buy winnie? I always think however low you feel, a squirt of something luxe and lovely will make you feel happier hope it is working its magic on you today
Good day yesterday, 16,000 steps (a lot of these up and down the IT suite - dissertation submission day and 90% of people elected to format and print on the day FFS ), healthy diet, heaps of water and cream.
Still got to bed too late though

foxinsocks · 09/05/2007 10:38

I did around 12,000 steps yesterday - but it's way easier for me as I'm not back at work and the school run alone counts for 7000 steps and that's before after-school clubs, popping round to friend's houses etc. etc.

Have also realised that I eat a lot more than most of you but in my defence, I'm doing up the house and that's taking up a lot of energy (ahem). Have finished painting the bathroom (yeah!), the cabinets (which I get to put together) arrive on Thursday and once that's done, I can tick off the first room finished in the house! Has only taken us 4 years to get to this point .

I was in bed by 11.30 which isn't too bad but did fall asleep several times on the couch before then!

Wheatgrass sounds foul ewww. Rumbum, I too gobble down the fish oils - they are marvellous things! Marina and dino, hope you are feeling better.

yoyo - look forward to hearing about the run. I'll either do that today or go for a swim.

hope everyone else is managing lots of striding about today too.

yoyo · 09/05/2007 11:06

FIS - did it and it was fine!! Hurrah! Must have quick shower before getting DS. Rush, rush, rush.

motherinferior · 09/05/2007 11:44

I am glum and exhausted and fed up

Sorry. Have nothing real to complain about, but Life is Getting to me a bit.

prufrock · 09/05/2007 14:45

now I want you to post something - anything- nice that has happened to you today. And then you can go back to wallowing. (Can you tell I've got into CBT bigtime?)

Yesterday was good - 50 situps when I woke, and walked 13000 steps. (We do count left-right as 2 steps don't we?) But somehow bruised my foot whilst a toddler climbed on me so couldn't face the gym. Had a lovely bath instead and was in bed, all creamed up by 10pm

Food - well I'm still eating BH weekend leftovers, and had a mini hangover, so no breakfast, lots of water, lots of coffee, taramasalata, pitta and sald for lunch, and potato salad and lamb cutlets for tea. Resisted the mini-twixes bought for dd to give out at school for her birthday.

iota · 09/05/2007 14:53

I spent half the morning helping a friend clear out a spider-infested shed. I feel very virtuous as I'm sure I burnt as many calories as I would have done doing a workout in the gym.

And I was very brave, as I am really not keen on spiders

motherinferior · 09/05/2007 14:56

My very lovely whippet cousin said - without prompting - that she'd do all the chopping and assistance for cooking tonight. Thus meaning I can produce a nice veg-filled meal with very little effort

Marina clocks bargain of 8 hour cream from batters...you are a star shopper missus and no mistake!
I got an e-wigging from Weightwatchers today for having lost "too much weight" this week . Given what a pie-muncher I have been of late I am not a bit surprised that by cutting out snacks and calorific breakfasts-at-desk, plus doing a lot more exercise than I have been, I dropped three kilos. I am sure it won't continue though
While I don't like gyms much I think I'd have liked that shed even less iota

well done Marina on the weightloss

I am sorry you are feeling glum MI. I hope you are feeling happier soon

I didn't get up early enough to fit exercise in but my pedometer has arrived and I am going to have to go for a walk tonight. (It's pathetic ... waiting for a gadget to get me out walking
However, on a general daily basis I think it is going to be a real eye opener as to how little exercise I actually get!
