WideWebWitch · 07/05/2007 09:33

This is week 6 of the third boot camp of 2007, everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

My Tesco shop took 3700 steps - and that does not include unpacking it, as that applies to online shopping as well.

winnie · 10/05/2007 15:35

iota 3000 + steps!

I am basking in the momentary delight that probably for the firstt time ever someone thought I am younger than I am Proof that this bootcamp is working? Personally I think he is delusional but to be told he thought I was 10 years younger than I am is a nice feeling anyway and I intend to bask in it

motherinferior · 10/05/2007 15:42

I can recommend bacon sarnies as happiness enhancer.

at the idea of a www statue! Fk me, you'd need a lot of stone for one of them! Champagne tears, and health shop and pub and en croute ha ha ha! It would be like this

Sobernow, lol at like your mother and moron etc. Get one, go on go on, you know you want to...

Sw, lucky you on the back musculature , my back's like streaky back bacon or sometihnmg, no musculature to be found...

Batters, 14,500 steps, wow, well done. I am so much more impressed at all these step measurements now I have a Moron, I had no idea how much 10,000 was before.

Iota, hmmm. Nope, still can't forgo online shop but interesting to know that.

FIS sorry to hear about the cold and good for you on run/walk thing.

feetheart, sorry about broken sleep, it's a killer isn't it? Dd was awake at 5.30am again but I made dh get up today and I slept til 6.15, when I have to get up anyway. Big wupp.

MI, can you get away for a night or two? Sorry it's wearing and at bacon sandwiches. My favourite is with really thick sliced white bread, loads of thick cold butter, mid crispy bacon and brown sauce.

Prufrock, 17000 STEPS? My word, that's a lot, well done.

WINNIE, WOW, I'M SO SO PLEASED!!! VINDICATION OF THE 10YY APPROACH! That's wonderful Bask away, really!

Sobernow, that doesn't sound like much food though, but that's what Nigel Slater said was the thing that made the most difference: drinking water to check it was hunger and not thirst.

Oh yes Suze
Of course yoga will get yer arse into shape if you practice religiously daily after start up sessions with muscular brute.

However, realistically very few people have that kind of willpower thus often cheery session in local leezher centre with a jolly group of women, loud music and teenage attentants laofing about can be easier and more pleasant yes?

My fave lunch of mo.....

Quinoa
Flaked salmon
Soy beans
Carrot

Dressed with wasabi, rice vinegar, sesame seed oil and soy.

Did you like the salad drawer thing Prufock??

WideWebWitch · 10/05/2007 20:17

So

6,900 steps, some during a 20 min walk at lunchtime. the rest of you are putting me to shame on this! Batters, were all yours OUTSIDE? And yours Prufrock? And the rest of you? Hmm?

so I ate my lentils and nuts and goji berries, which have grown on me considerably I have to say. Either that or I was so starving at 4pm that cat food tasted nice. Plus 3 jaffa cakes, oops, but they were little ones, so I've just looked that up and a normal one is 46 cals so that's 120 at the most for little rectangular ones
and I've just eaten a salmon fillet, brushed with sesame oil and soy AND I ate the skin of dh's since he doesn't like it. And no booze for the 4th night running

I have a friend of dd's and her mother (neither of whom I've met before, eeek!) coming for tea tomorrow and temptation will be there as I'm making mini fairy cakes for their pink tea but never mind, still feeling v determined and may get up at 5.30 am with dd and then go for a walk before dh leaves for work at 8am. It's the end of my week today, hurrah!

I don't think I'm going to do yoga tonight as I bought £20 worth of magazines so am shortly going to retire to bed and read them and ring a friend.

Well done everyone.

Another okay day but do fancy a glass wine tonight. Will see how it goes. Didn't do as much walking as usual as we have had a fair bit of rain today but will be doing Day 2 of running programme tomorrow. (FIS - every other day do you think?).

Have done several short slots of pilates - a few curl downs usually restore my sanity. Must be the blood rushing to my head! Didn't do Father William much harm as I remember.

Food has been excellent apart from griddled asparagus with parmesan shavings and two small scoops of frozen yog for pudding.

MI - you sound very down. Can you think of anything achievable that would cheer you up? Bacon sandwiches are delicious especially with a hangover, smothered in butter with brown sauce. Almost worth the hangover. Hope you have a happier day tomorrow.

WWW, he is deluded... but I did bask for a little while and then I read my daily step count... (I did say it would bring me down to reality)...7319!! I am going to have to do better than that if walking is going to get me fit. However, I too love my MORON. Batters, I completely agree it is very motivating. I only did 10 mins of aerobic steps and used 389 calories but I am so sad that I love knowing that & I know it will motivate me to do better tomorrow!

Haven't drank enough water today & dd made lasagne as I work late on a Thursday (which was lovely to come home too). And although the lasagne did have olive oil in it, its topping was made of quark and small amount of cheese rather than the usual sauce so not the end of the world.

MI hope you are feeling better soon.

God, Flexitol is wonderful, I know I've said it before but I'm really impressed.

Slept by 10.45pm last night having had another bowl of lentils, anchovies and chillis.

This morning I've had 100g granola, a wheatgrass shot, a perfect skin vitamin, a multi vit and echinacea.

Walking will be limited to ambling around with dd.

WideWebWitch · 11/05/2007 08:31

I know re step count winnie, I'm really shocked at how little I'm walking now I've got the moron, I thought I was doing quite well before that.

well poor old ds was screaming half the night with earache so I've had yet another night of virtually no sleep . It is horrendous how lack of sleep ages you - I really do look awful today!

So lunch out is cancelled (probably a good thing in terms of alcohol consumption ), ds is home from school (much to dd's chagrin) and ds and I are attempting to build the bathroom cabinets together (which is something of a relief because he is much more useful than dh ).

I did 10,000 steps yesterday of which 9,500 were aerobic (school runs and taking the kids to swimming lessons) but I'll hardly do any today.

yoyo - yes, I was thinking every other day. I'll have to put it on hold and start again next week but I think that's a good plan!

marina - I've emailed you (not sure if it's the right address, it's a yahoo one).

oh and despite lots of flexitol action and tender and loving foot care, I've noticed my fungal toe has returned (from the filthy swimming pool). Am starting to consider wearing those ridiculous socks that children wear when they have verrucas!

Yesterday was the first really good day (apart from a small glass of wine) and I feel much better for it.

Porridge with lots of fruit
Vegetable wrap
Big fruit smoothie
Pasta with veg and seeds
Water
1 hour netball

Tuesday and Wednesday started well but went downhill mid-afternoon and continued to decline into the evening, with lots of chocolate and alcohol.

Project for the weekend is to get round as many local gyms as I can to see if I want to join one. I have been to one already.

Today has started well, with porridge, but I haven't left the house yet and dp may well get sent out for a takeaway tonight, what with it being Friday 'n' all.

V impressed with all your walking. I dug out an old pedometer but by lunchtime it said 244 steps. I know I'm lazy, but not that lazy and I may have to invest in a new one that actually works.

By the way, is anyone else trying to do low GI, or are you all doing low fat?
