This is week 6 of the third boot camp of 2007, everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

My steps aren't all outside no - but I do have to do 2 or 3 school runs a day, and having the pedometer is an extra incentive to walk (3000+ steps) rather than drive. I suppose my stepcount just goes to show that us SAHM's do actually do more than you lazy WOHM's

CQ - you know I have a gym (weights/crosstrainer/stepper/bike/Tv) that you can pop round and use if you don't want to bother joining one. Dh is usually in it from 7:15-8:30 ish but it lies idle the rest of the time. The best one around here is definately Greens (off Coldhams Lane). Whatever you do don't join the one at Abbey.

prufrock · 11/05/2007 12:37

Yesterday wasn't too good
Sit-ups
Granola
Then I was rushing around trying to get together everyting I needed to create a circus in my back garden for the ids party, and forgot to eat, so had a tuna and cucumber baguette and apple slice at 3pm. And a coffee whilst dd had swimming esson, which was so disgusting I had to add sugar and chocolate on top to make it palatable. Then chicken in black bean sauce for dinner, and cava - I didn't realy want to drink, but I did want a drink.

But just because I had 3/4 bottle cava (which isn't as bad as it sounds because it's stuff my Mum gets for 99p a bottle in France and is only about 8% alcohol) doesn't mean I have failed completely, so i am back on track today. I even threw the bowl and beaters I'd made brownies with into a sinkful of dirty water so I wouldn't be tempted to lick them.

WideWebWitch · 11/05/2007 13:33

Well MY Tesco shop was a measly 2,000 steps! Iota, did you go round twice or something? So I've only done 2312 steps so far and most of them indoors, which is rubbish

Just cooked mussels for me and dd for lunch and they smelled foul and foamed so I chucked them.
Have just eaten 100g of lentils mixed with 100cal of prawns mixed up with with sweet chilli sauce, prob not ideal as its 1st ingredient is sugar but never mind.

Prufrock, soapy water was a good idea. When's the party, this w/e? We WOHMs are lazy arses, you know that surely? and

Cq, agree with batters, 1 glass of wine is fine. That's a nice offer from Prufrock! I;m doing trying to stay under 1,700 cals per day + walking and all other rules + limited carbs (i.e. evening) and cutting out bread pretty much so I now have granola instead of toast, salad instead of sandwiches, sweet potatoes/veg instead of potatoes. Altohugh I do eat noodles sometimes.

FIS, sorry to hear about dd, poor her and you.

Okay so far. Food fine apart from very cheese-laden oatcake and it is salad for supper so will be okay. Oh, I had a small Twirl finger with my coffee too. Perhaps not so good after all.

I have walked to school and back and will do it again soon and I went to the gym. Did another running/walking session which was easier today and a fair bit on th eother stuff too. I am finding the IPod a huge help as when I start to flag something comes on that keeps me going. Didn't think I'd ever grin whilst running but caught myself in the mirror doing just that.

FIS - hope you have a better night tonight. Earache is awful isn't it? Their cries are so very sad - have sat up with them on many occasions with tears running down my face.

The Moron fan club seem to be doing very well. Keep it up!

iota · 11/05/2007 14:33

www - we have a very big Tesco - with an upstairs and everything. And I park a long way from the doors - no P&T parking for me

Am only up to a measeley 4700 steps at the mo - bottled my exercise class this morning. Howevwe have the school run ans swimming this afternoon (will have to count leg kicks and add them on)

lol sobernow at 'moron-envy'

batters, 'lazy harpi'... never! You have inspired us all to get walking

talking of which. I love my MORON! I came home from work and was utterly dismayed to find I'd only achieved 3500 steps at work today. So I pulled on my trainers, grabbed an umberella and headed out. I did a twenty minute route march and was dismayed to find I'd only added another 4000 steps to my day. So motivated by the magic number 10,000 I did a figure of eight added another 15 minutes to my walk and finally reached 10,300 steps by the time I reached my front door! Hurrah! But my goodness what an eye opener a pedometer is! I truly have been leading a rathersedantary existance of late!
The fact that the MORON can tell one the number of aerobic steps one has done is also really helpful if one wants to increase ones fitness levels.

I feel really good after that walk.

I've had a good day on all other levels of the bootcamp regime too. I shall be getting on the scales tomorrow and I expect to have lost more weight as my clothes are hanging off me

Have a good weekend everyone

winnie · 11/05/2007 18:42

sedantary?

foxinsocks · 11/05/2007 18:50

lol at your Tesco steps comparison. I reckon all we need is one of us to go to Ikea - I reckon you'd easily clock up a few thousand just navigating round all the different rooms!

I have done lots of baking today (cabin fever).

Have had

apple
4 biscuits
lentil and tomato soup for lunch
a few fruit gums
pork meatballs and spag in tomato sauce (made it for ds really, his fave meal!)
half a bag of mixed nuts
and have some chocolate fairy cakes that need icing - no doubt I'll scoff a few of those later.

My Moron says I've only done about 4000 steps today which is about right I reckon (one school run, general pottering) but I am sooooo tired, my head feels all fuzzy so I have my fingers crossed for something more than a few hours sleep tonight!

Well done everyone on the steps - and batters, I find it's quite nice to have a day with v few steps as it just provides more inspiration for the next few days. Always good to have a break!

WideWebWitch · 11/05/2007 19:15

Well done everyone, esp Winnie on the walking and lol at Sobernow's moron.

I made fairy cakes and didn't eat any or any icing - I did your thing Prufrock and chucked them straight into hot water with washing up liquid. I ate half a sausage while cooking them but all the oil had been soaked off in kitchen roll.

I've done a poxy 3300 steps but will do better tomorrow.

I also managed children's tea with delicious cucumber and Marmite sandwiches, sausages, baby roast potatoes, and pink iced fairy cakes WITHOUT picking, except at a few raspberries.

There is a poussin each cooking for dh and I and I have cold Champagne in the fridge so will drink later when children are in bed but reckon that's ok, it's Friday and intend walking a decent amount tomorrow.

I am being a bit crap (apart from last night's pilates) in most ways, to be honest . Am not getting on very well with DP.

Oh MI, are you okay? Your posts have more than a tinge of sadness at the moment. I really hope things improve for you soon - have you and DP been together a long time?

My evening became fraught and I have already shared most of a bottle of rose (accentless - pedantic apologies) with DH. Now it is telly and newspapers time and will no doubt finish off the bottle.

no no not me with clothes hanging off. I wish. Batters, help, tell me what you think re sleepover thread!

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 12/05/2007 12:59

no, I didn't get a good night's sleep - in fact, I felt like crying when I woke up this morning I was so tired (but have realised I too have a temperature now so that's probably why!). Ds and I are feeling very sorry for ourselves!

Dd has a sleepover tonight so ds and I will have to drag ourselves off the couch to drop her off and dh has taken the car to work arrrghhhh!

Hope you all continue with your weight loss. The only positive about being ill is that I have gone off food so that can only be a good thing .

(have a big hug MI xx).

prufrock · 12/05/2007 13:05

Mixed day yesterday

Sit ups (how long does it take for 50 situps a morning to register and improvment in tummy tone?)
Granola
2 peaches
Didn't eat any brownie mixture
Sushi for lunch
Went out for dinner to all you can eat Chinese. but I was relatively restrained, and to make up for Thursday I didn't drink anything but Chinese tea. Afterwards we went to the amusment arcade and played air hockey very competitively so that must have burnt some calories.

Only 5,000 steps, but that was by 2pm, when i had to take pedometer off because I couldn't attach it to the dress I was wearing!

WWW - please create a profile, even if you put rubbish on it - it's the easiest way to see what threads someone else is on.

motherinferior · 12/05/2007 15:47

Thank you. I am not exactly sure whether I'm just very, very tired and run down (I get like this periodically) or something else is making me feel so damn exhausted and tediously weepy, but I will be OK, honest!

Hi, will update later, but just wondered, if you get time could you look at this - we had a talk about it at church, and with all the media interest in Madeleine McCann, child safety seems topical. Thanks!

WideWebWitch · 12/05/2007 17:40

God, I've eaten like a pig

a bacon sandwich
several pieces of shortbread
a fairy cake
some prawns dipped in chilli sauce
2 pieces bread, butter and honey
loads of rare roast beef on bread and thick butter with horseradish
raspberries

I think I'd better stop eating now, that really should do me for today..

OP posts:
winnie · 13/05/2007 09:47

Yesterday was good.

I've lost another 5lbs

Drank lots of water, did 8500 steps, creamed, ate healthily even though I went out for lunch with a dear friend. Felt happy. Did drink 3 glasses of wine but it was Saturday.

foxinsocks · 13/05/2007 09:52

oh winnie, fantastic news! You sound much more positive .

Glad to see everyone's keeping up with their creaming (fnar fnar).

I have finally had a half decent night's sleep - ds always sleeps in and dd was at someone else's house and even though dh's walrus like snoring noises woke me up several times, I actually managed to go back to sleep so I feel a bit more chipper today.

have wolfed down some croissants for breakfast but fully intend on making a nutritious casserole for dinner (could do with it after this lousy weather and awful colds we've had!).

hope you all have good days.

winnie · 13/05/2007 09:57

FIS, glad you are feeling better & finally got some sleep
