Mint Velvet and Hush both have a pair that are ok, but I want something a little edgier.

My officially cool friend told me puma is not ok. I have them though and love wearing them. I'm not very cool but I sort of like that no one else is wearing them and they feel retro.

holycityzoo · 20/01/2018 10:32

I do, I managed to find some in the sales in the summer.
Dh hates themGrin

CharizMa · 20/01/2018 11:08

mockney, I can't get the link to work! I do really like those ones but can't see them available in a size 38/5

Personally I prefer Adidas sambas to gazelles and Stan Smith's. I love Reebok classics and am listing after a pair of mustard gola trainers too.

I recently grabbed a pair of the cheap, black suede Adidas trainers they always have in sports direct when I had a shoe emergency, and they're ace. I keep reaching for them.

BringMeTea · 20/01/2018 12:31

Look at Onitsukatigers. They are my absolute favourites. Also Veja as previously mentioned.

Chanelprincess · 20/01/2018 12:34

Golden Goose trainers are well worth the money but shop around for the more exclusive styles. Also loving Jimmy Choos.

Adidas Gazelles have not been 'cool' for 20 years and will age you horribly. I'm sorry, but that's the truth.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 20/01/2018 12:38

Gola used to be the brand kids were ashamed to wear...cheap and cheerful and just not cool ...a recent survey said things haven't changed much!

www.campaignlive.co.uk/article/brand-health-check-gola/230218

You said you wanted "cool" OP and Gola are not that. Grin

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 20/01/2018 12:39

Chanel not true! Loads of younger people wear them.

CharizMa · 20/01/2018 13:00

I do like the addidas ones but I don't want to buy a pair.

CountFosco what do you make of the gola ones I linked to? I am fashionable in a very cut is good, colour is flattering, fabrics are soft kind of way. Nobody would think I was trying to be a fashion plate but I have a good inner radar for an item of clothing that ages me. Usually. Unless this is the morning I've woken up and missed it.

Might go with the veja off-white ones they're simple but v nice.

I have plain old white converse they go with everything! They are matt leather though not canvas so don’t get as dirty.

I also have these Nike beauties which I’m obsessed with. I wear them with ripped skinnies and a baggy hoody / jumper. They’re also super comfy. Appreciate they’re not for everyone though lol

Cool trainers! Do I sound like Alan Partridge ?
Peopleplease · 20/01/2018 13:25

General info. If you’re looking at gazelles (or Adidas in general) and your foot size is 5.5 or smaller the kids/junior range is identical for almost half the price.

I got my gazelles for €60 instead of €100!

CrispyAubergine · 20/01/2018 13:29

Yes agree peopleplease!

Peopleplease · 20/01/2018 13:36

crispy those Nike are beautiful!

CrispyAubergine · 20/01/2018 13:40

Stunning aren’t they 😍 a birthday present from dh

My dc think so too but they absolutely cringe that their ancient old 38 year old Mum wears Nike’s

Peopleplease · 20/01/2018 13:43

crispy less of the ancient! I’m 39 and covet those!

CrispyAubergine · 20/01/2018 13:47

Haha awww I don’t think I am remotely ancient 🤣 (Sadly my dc think anyone over about 22 is 😩😠)

I wear what I want and if anything I’m more adventurous style wise than I was in my 20s!

IWouldLikeToKnow · 20/01/2018 14:01

I want these ones for the spring

Cool trainers! Do I sound like Alan Partridge ?
Wellhellothere1 · 20/01/2018 14:22

I'm loving all the trainer suggestions. How do you all wear them i.e. what trouser/skirt styles? I never feel I get the look right though I love white trainers on other people.

DarthNigel · 20/01/2018 15:13

Op could you get the converse ones and just switch the white laces to style them up a bit?

CharizMa · 20/01/2018 15:15

I like those office ones iwouldliketo know

OP posts:
CharizMa · 20/01/2018 15:16

I think ill wear them with jeans 1cm above the ankle. Not skinny jeans but not as wide leg as in fashion. Need to move more slowly and carefully around the trend for cropped boot cut jeans. Eegadz

CountFosco · 20/01/2018 16:07

Chariza I prefer the Onitsukatigers you linked to, they are fab I think the colourful suede Golas are cool but not so fussed about those white leather ones, it's probably the pastel details I don't like.

Cheap that article is 14 years old. Hardly recent.

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 20/01/2018 16:19

I absolutely love GG’s got loads of pairs of them, I wore a lot of converse when I was younger, so can see calls of similarities, they are I guess....but they are much better made and have arch support. I see converse on too many young girls now, that has put me off, and they can’t afford GG’s

Other trainers I like that are cheaper are Stan smiths, gazelles, campus, veja, new balance, rose rankin, love a good liberty x Nike colab! Tretorn. I pretty much only wear trainers outside of work, so I have a lot!
