Do you have any?

Mine is to make my summer wardrobe interesting by actually buying some pieces and not telling myself there's no point as we get three hot days. I spent this year in one pair of loose printed trousers with a variety of plain t-shirts!

I also want to return things I like but don't love rather than keeping them and forcing myself to make them work.

Anyone else?

This year I got rid of 4 bin bags of clothes so now I only have clothes that I actually like and fit me.

This year
New bras, I've made do with ones that are uncomfortable for too long
Smarter work stuff, we're casual office but I've fallen into 'jeans and jumper' routine and I want to smarten up a bit
No more gym/running stuff
I'm considering chopping off my long hair and going short for the first time in many years.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2017 13:37

Yes to bras. I've gone up in size and currently only have two that fit. I want to get fitted properly and buy a couple more.

explodingkittens · 23/12/2017 14:01

To have my shirt hair cut regularly to keep it looking fab
To not give into the box dyes - they look far, far worse than my natural silver-grey 'highlights'
To not feel bad about buying good-quality clothes that will flatter and last
To clear out my wardrobe and only keep the stuff I know suits me
To be confident in sticking to the stuff that suits me - having 'a look' is fine as long as it's a good one!
To be more Parisienne!

Great thread! I’ve been pondering resolutions.

I have enough clothes and I’ve started buying better so things are still in good nick. This year, I’m going to spend my S&B dollar on the canvas (ie, me!)

So I’m going to see someone about my back problems. Going to start gym / swimming / yoga. I’m going to get the odd beauty treatment and not feel guilty about it!

Gah81 · 23/12/2017 14:50

Totally agree on the canvas Shock

Gah81 · 23/12/2017 14:52

Sigh. A combination of cat and fat fingers above.

Definitely on the canvas thing. My resolution is a continuation of mine last year: to wear my beautiful silk gowns and dresses more often.

I have a fondness for vintage silk dresses and have some beautiful ones. Including long vintage evening dresses. I have done a lot better at just thinking f**k it and wearing these out to dinner or even drinks. I am thus usually overdressed but feel wonderful and goddammit, these dresses deserve to be seen!

ProjectGainsborough · 23/12/2017 14:59

Oh gah those silk dresses sound amazing, do it!

JaceLancs · 23/12/2017 15:19

Lose another 2 stone (lost 4 stone last year)
Have regular manicures
Use the gym at my gym membership rather than just swimming and hanging out in sauna/steam room/hot tub
Keep selling clothes that no longer fit on eBay and use the money to replace with good quality basics and classic pieces
Wear heels more often
Find another aquamarine and diamond ring to replace the one I had stolen a couple of weeks ago!

TheSquashyHatOfMrGnosspelius · 23/12/2017 15:21

Flippin' 'Eck, I read that as sartorial goats

yummyeclair · 23/12/2017 15:26

Lose my tummy by walking and have a monthly small budget for clothes so I don't panic buy.

Fairyliz · 23/12/2017 15:51

Over the last couple of years I have recorded all of the clothes I have bought and how much they cost.
I just looked through my notebook today and I am shocked at how many things I have not worn or only worn once or twice,

On the bright side it has been really useful to see what clothes I have worn a lot so I can focus my spending in future.

quirkychick · 23/12/2017 16:04

Fairyliz I have a notebook and each season I note down any gaps and what worked or not for next year. Hopefully, that means I make better choices each year...

To not be afraid to buy a few of what works. For instance I have quite a few drapey tops: one patterned, one long-sleeved and navy, one sleeveless... but they suit me.

SisterMortificado · 23/12/2017 16:15

Wear more hats (I love hats)
Lose 5-10kg
Stop wearing socks that are more hole than sock
Use night cream
Find the right nude lipstick

TheGrumpySquirrel · 23/12/2017 16:33

@SisterMortificado most nudes look awful on me (I'm pale olive skinned with mid brown hair and warm colouring) but Benefit Nude Scandal is just perfect 👌🏼

misscheery · 23/12/2017 16:42

-Less make-up. I used to work as a make-up artist as a part time job (I have a completely different, full time job during the week), but I stopped because it was slowly killing me with 50 hours a week @ work and at least another 10 at the week-end. I sold all my case, and kept only the basics I use everyday. I will slowly build another mini-kit just for myself

  • Lose the bloody 5 kgs @ gym + healthy eating
  • Go for a massage at least once a month
  • Buy better clothes. Expensive and only quality items
  • Buy better shoes. I never have a basic for my shoes, I need a few extra pairs for each season
  • Cut & die every 10 weeks
  • Eyebrows once a month
  • Body lotion after EVERY shower/bath
misscheery · 23/12/2017 16:44

Also:

  • Getting my hair back in a long bob style
  • Facials once every 2 months
misscheery · 23/12/2017 16:45

AND (Jesus what have you done to me)

  • wear a different lipstick everyday
  • buy thights, bras, underwear that actually match!

Over and out

CountFosco · 23/12/2017 18:01

Positive resolutions are the easiest to keep. Change my lifestyle ones (stop smoking, drink less, eat better, do more exercise etc) are easier to tackle when the weather is warmer and done one by one.

So, my sartorial aims are:
Buy cool socks.
Get a perfume subscription.

CountFosco · 23/12/2017 18:07

One more: I need new glasses and keep putting it off because I've bought new shoes glosses over 2 pairs of shoes bought in the sale.

Floisme · 23/12/2017 18:12

Ooh I'll probably need new glasses too. Excellent. Time for a change of style, I think.

Missionocrity · 23/12/2017 19:08

This years goals:

  1. Wear matching underwear EVERY day (I always feel glamorous when I do this!)

  2. lose the last 7lb to reach my target so my thin clothes look good on me!

Gah81 · 23/12/2017 19:27

Just thought of a new one: wear lipstick every day. I have 15 lipsticks which I never wear (as opposed to one mascara, one eyeshadow palette, one eyeliner, one foundation, one blusher. All of which I wear daily!).

Occasionally I will wear bright scarlet lipstick but that is about once a fortnight. I need to use my lipsticks up!

PavlovaPlease · 23/12/2017 19:32

Shift half a stone
Buy capsule wardrobe for work when if I get a job
Save thoughout the winter for boots and coats so that I can afford some next year if needed

quirkychick · 23/12/2017 21:15

Oh, yes, wear lipstick more often. I have already started this but plan to continue.

Lanaorana2 · 24/12/2017 11:45

Look good for me, not good for a 12 year old model.Bugger the stone or so I need to lose. Red, navy, white and moderne jewellery - all with proper scent - lovely.
