Are we all ready? Stand by your beds for tomorrow! I just keep looking at mine in wonderment. It really cheered me up every day last December having something to open every morning Smile

I couldn't see another day by day thread - happy to delete mine if someone else has one.

Saltyseabird I will happily swap my beauty notsponge for your lip balm.

mogulfield · 11/12/2017 09:49

Does anyone know how to use the sponge with foundation? Just wet it and dab or spread?! Keen to give it a go.

CastielIsMyAngel · 11/12/2017 09:58

mogulfield It's best used damp for several reasons, but one is when it's dry ithe absorbs half of your foundation and you end up needing to buy a new one before you know it! voice of bitter experience

deptfordgirl · 11/12/2017 10:04

I got a lip balm as well. Am glad as would rather that than a sponge I think.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 11/12/2017 10:06

Sponge here too. Meh. I use mineral foundation and a Kabuki brush. I can't see myself using this at all.
Another one for the swap pile! It's only that and the lipstick that have been real duds for me. 2/11 is not bad at all!

thegrinchreaper · 11/12/2017 10:07

I got the sponge, I already use brushes and beauty blenders but I could've done with a new one just for powders. Not very exciting though!

usernameinfinito · 11/12/2017 10:12

I wish I had the lip balm ☹️

mowglik · 11/12/2017 10:43

We will probably do a swaps thread after Xmas so maybe hold onto the bits you don’t want.. We did it last year and I got back ups of the products I liked which was great Xmas Smile

Frederickvonhefferneffer · 11/12/2017 10:50

So today’s was a random chance of either a sponge or a lip balm? That’s a bit off! Much better if all the same. I got the sponge, il use it, bit Would also love a lip balm.

snowflakestar · 11/12/2017 11:01

I've just had a very quick glance (as the bright packaging of the sponge is easy to spot!) and it's not shown in the official photo of what's in the calendar, so it is a bit off I think. I checked what was in the calendar before deciding to buy and I don't recall any mention of products varying.

NumberEightyOne · 11/12/2017 11:13

Got the sponge. Literally do not have a clue what to do with it.

Nettletheelf · 11/12/2017 11:22

I googled for ‘sculpting sponge’. Even watched a video and I’m still clueless about what sets it apart from other sponges. You are supposed to use the pointy bit for putting highlighter on your brows and top lip and the fat bit for rubbing out make up lines on the side of your face if you’re into that godawful contouring.

But I will find a use for it. Calendar still a winner!

chemenger · 11/12/2017 11:49

I would have preferred the lip balm but otherwise I’m happy. Teens will use day one’s glittery stuff but I’m keeping the rest. I never wear nail polish but I have the gold on and it looks nice. My skin is all soft and smooth. Some people do seem hard to please, there is no set of 25 items that could suit everyone.

CastielIsMyAngel · 11/12/2017 11:53

I just looked on a spoiler list of contents and is says Ultrasun Ultralip but no mention of a sponge...

AmethystMoon · 11/12/2017 11:57

You can use the sponge for powder? Xmas Shock
I used it for my foundation earlier and it was great....now I’ll wash it and try with powder. Every day’s a school day for me Xmas Grin

ChristmasTreeLight · 11/12/2017 12:10

I got the Ultrasun lip balm and came on here to moan because sadly I don’t go on enough hot and sunny holidays to warrant a SPF 30 lip balm!

I did wonder why it was in a special box Confused

Kez0777 · 11/12/2017 12:20

It defiantly had the beauty blender on

Day by Day M&S Beauty Calendar- No Spoilers!
woodhill · 11/12/2017 12:22

So will sponge work for foundation, can't be doing with contouring

CastielIsMyAngel · 11/12/2017 12:44

Kez0777 Ahh, so it says Blender OR lip balm. Problem solved!

Kochicoo · 11/12/2017 12:45

I'm another one who stupidly opened tomorrow's instead of today but am looking forward to the beauty blender! I had one for years and couldn't understand why people raved about them until I read that they had to be damp. I run it under the tap then squeeze off the excess water in a towel. I then bash (bash? bump?) it all over my foundationed face and it makes it look sooo much better.

PodgeBod · 11/12/2017 13:00

So annoyed I got the lip balm and I've actually been out looking for a blender today.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 11/12/2017 13:07

I got the blender sponge, which is a shame as I would have got more use out of a lip balm.

Whyhellodaffodil · 11/12/2017 13:15

Couple of pages back now but thanks fridgecut for the link to the peel Smile

YolandasFridge · 11/12/2017 13:19

Tough crowd some of you lot Hmm

Beauty blender always wet and excess squeezed out. "Push" the foundation into your skin rather than wipe. Ditto comments re using for powder. Also good to "bump" off your finished base for a final blend
You tube it!

Don't get the criticism. I think the calendar is great if you keep an open mind, it's meant to be a surprise treat each day and you'll not get 25 things hand picked according to your own specific needs!
If you only want specific items I'd have spent £35 on them and not this because you're going to be disappointed

BluePheasant · 11/12/2017 14:04

Didn’t realise the calendars aren’t all identical. I got the sponge which won’t get used as don’t wear foundation. Suppose it could be used for concealer though?
