Very short skirts when pushing 40 - do you...?

Is this a definite no? I think it suits me (only in winter - denim or corduroy with v thick tights and chunky boots). But if I'm nearly 40 am I deluded? I've read that I'm breaking a golden rule of S&B and don't want to be prancing around like a fool...

With thick tights and boots I might. My legs are my best feature. I'd make sure my top wasn't revealing at all.

I'm 44 With great legs and regularly wear quite short skirts. I will until my knees go!!

My winter skirts are short, I like it with opaque tights and ankle boots at the moment.

You're not even 40 yet? Good God, why are you even worrying? There's very little these days that you can't wear 'due to age'. The rule is more if it looks good, wear it. And wear it with confidence.

I'm 54, my legs are good so I'm still wearing short dresses with bare legs in the summer, and with thick tights in the winter.

45 here, wear nothing but tiny skirts, 80 denier tights and either ankle boots or black pumps. I look 20 from behind but sadly not from the front Grin
I have every intention of never stopping, why should I? My legs are long and slim (I'm short!) and my best feature, as everything else declines, there is no way I'm hiding these beauties!!

I'm 38 and I wear quite short skirts in winter with thick black tights. I don't wear them in summer because although my legs aren't a bad shape they are shockingly white and somehow look awful in anything above the knee without tights!

I'm 37.5 and wear short skirts and dresses. In winter with thick tights and boots and bare in summer
I'm of the opinion that as long as you are happy then wear what makes you feel good

Go for it OP - I'm 41 & wear short skirts during the day with 100 denier black tights & ankle or knee boots.

I work on my legs in the gym so I feel happy to show them off.

In the summer I wear short skirts/ dresses without tights. But I get a tan first generally.

If I'm going out at night I switch to 60 denier tights & smarter boots or if I want bare legs I do wear a longer (still above the knee or on it) dress.

I am nearly fifty and short size 12. I wear above the knee with a tan in summer and thick tights in winter. Makes my legs look slimmer than if I wore them longer

I'm 52 and wear short skirts. I'm short and look better in short skirts than longer ones. In the winter I wear them with thick black tights and boots. In the summer, I wear short skirts less often, but that's because I live in Scotland if it was warmer I definitely would.

Nearly 40 is young, and I like the rule of if it looks good wear it and enjoy it. Age has nothing to do with it.

Definitely fine. But I wouldn't be leaving the top end uncovered at the same time, even in your 20's/30's that doesn't look too stylish. A short jersey dress with crew neck and long sleeves, dark tights and heels if your nice legs is a gorgeous outfit well into your 40's.

I would also wear with tights etc in winter. However I think it depends as much on the style/shape as length. A-line are more forgiving whereas pencil look better in a slightly longer length. I do stick to either legs or boobs out and with that I don't mean cleavage. For example I wouldn't wear a short tight skirt with a spaghetti top even if it doesn't show cleavage. I would wear a short tight skirt with a voluminous top, or a spaghetti top with a midi tight pencil skirt.

A lines are usually flattering and not as obvious on short length as pencil minis.

I'm 44 and I wear short skirts with thick tights, wore a short dress to the last wedding I went to with natural tights. Age is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned, shapely legs are shapely legs no matter what age they are Wink

Age is irrelevant imo. There are plenty of very overweight teens/20s out there who wear things they look dreadful in.

If you have the shape imo do it.

I am 46 and wear short (but not too short) skirts with thick tights and sturdy boots regularly. I never really think about wether it's appropriate or not to be honest.
