I promise to try proper Mitsouko soon.
Guess how much for the 32 soaps? £7.50 for the lot! On a BIN. How could I refuse? All Avon's from the 70s by the looks of it.

littlechou · 12/10/2017 21:11

Thank you GreenPolish I’m going to look into it. Would love to get mum a true vintage but wowwww the prices?!?

Badders08 · 12/10/2017 21:14

I think you will like it PIAM

Auldspinster · 12/10/2017 22:14

Cleared out my vhs tapes and stumbled across a full bottle of Rochas Absolu, still in the box - result!

BluebellGal · 12/10/2017 23:07

I’m seriously tempted by that advent calendar Green thanks for sharing. What are general impressions of Atelier perfumes? Are they Jo Malone territory in terms of weakness/longevity?

GreenPolishToGo · 12/10/2017 23:39

Bluebell I like a lot of the Atelier Colognes and love two of them - Bergamote Soleil and Trefle Pur. AC seems to be especially good at turning out beautifully blended fresh citrus type scents. But the longevity can be hit or miss. Bergamote Soleil seems to last for about eight hours on me, but Trefle Pur needs a top-up after four and that's probably more typical of most of the AC range. But that still makes them much longer-lasting than the Jo Malones I've tried - admittedly not many because I found the first ones so disappointingly fleeting.

Several of us tried the Atelier Cologne Discovery Set on an earlier thread and I think a few people felt the longevity could be better. But I'd be very tempted if I didn't already have quite a lot of AC samples and a L'Occitane Advent calendar on the way. Actually, who am I kidding? I'm still tempted, I'm just sitting on my hands!

PIAM £7.50 is an accident waiting to happen. Are they kitschy?!

Very nice find Auld but why was it masquerading as a videotape?!

They were all on a bookshelf, must have shoved it on the shelf and stacked up the tapes in front. I've got a bottle of Bal a'Versailles living somewhere on the shelf too.

Auldspinster · 13/10/2017 00:41

I got my first bottle of Mitsouko in 1998 at 23, was probably a bit young for it.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 13/10/2017 04:47

Oooooh! Enabler badge spot prize for you Green! This is very good news - I'd written Sephora off and so settled on Liberty. What good luck that theirs isn't in sale yet - I could get AC and Look Fantastic (inspired by Bluebell raving about it on the advent calendar thread) and have some budget left.over for ebay/notino/any other lovely sample seller.

Ooh I do love Christmas Grin

PerfumeIsAMessage · 13/10/2017 08:13

L'Heure Bleue this morning, mainly because I needed something strong to remove the last vestiges of the Dune from last night, and I have a headache so it had to be something not sweet.

I'm not thrillingly impressed with Atelier Cologne. Though haven't tried many. The Bergamot is the best I've tried, but no better or more long lasting than any other citrus fragrances (though obvs it's miles better than any wanky Tom Ford or Jo Malone emperor's new clothes) That said, I may have a little look at the advent calendar and see if it's any different to the sample sets we all got, which were very good value for money.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 13/10/2017 08:45

SOTD is Panache again - it's very soapy and 'clean' smelling on me with a hint of musk. I like it a lot.

I've requested a sample set from 1460 Tuesday for Christmas this year and may also see if anyone wants to get me a small bottle of Shalimar or L'elephant.

I love L'Heure Bleue, PIAM.

MrsPestilence · 13/10/2017 08:50

SoTD is Union Celtic Fire, smokey peat - like Laphroaig without the whisky.

Dangerous link Green , try to avoid Selfridges due to this

BluebellGal · 13/10/2017 08:56

Thanks for the Atelier feedback everyone. It’s actu the dabber bottles that’s putting me off.

Green I’m the same- also sitting on my hands. Do I really NEED a perfume AC and a load more samples?? That PS box is the best - along with Latest Launches. I also loved that one.

Cheap bear in mind the LF AC is my first so I might just be overly excited but I am using at least 10 products daily now and very happy. Just gifted a hair product to my mum as wouldn’t work for me and she was chuffed. Ah but the Liberty calendar is beautiful!!!! Decisions, decisions.

SOTD is Shay and Blue Dandelion Fig. I want to be reminded of summer - it’s full of tomato plants, greenery and figgy lusciousness- and Summer is coming back for one weekend only woohoo!

BluebellGal · 13/10/2017 08:57

I mean I prefer atomiser samples to Danvers as I struggle to get the bloody lids off!

BluebellGal · 13/10/2017 08:58

Dabbers!!!!

Badders08 · 13/10/2017 08:59

PIAM
I really didnt find LHB sweet at all
Sotd will be Dior addict

explodingkittens · 13/10/2017 09:19

SOTD is Killian's Straight to Heaven. After being unimpressed by Good Girl Gone Bad, this is a vast improvement. Woody but also rather dank and damp (in a good way), with a boozy undertow. Rather like being in a pub cellar - again, this is a good thing imo! Or, for a rather more Killianesque description, like sniffing a barrel of rum in the damp dark depths of a pirate ship Grin

Am tempted by all this advent calendar talk but I simply Can't Go There. Too much temptation. However, if I was going to ask for a scent subscription for Christmas, what would you recommend? Have had my head rather turned by the Bloom one, but the Perfume Society seems to get a lot of love on here too.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 13/10/2017 10:37

Badders- I don't find LHB sweet- that's why I like it and turn to it on headachy days. Did you mean Mitsouko? (that's the one I said I thought was sweet- but I only have a PP dupe)

PerfumeIsAMessage · 13/10/2017 10:41

Bloom deliver to Italy!!!!!

I did not see that I did not see that I do not need an annual subscription to sample sets repeat as necessary

I'm going to subscribe.

BluebellGal · 13/10/2017 11:16

Haha Piam Bloom is very tempting

Kittens I really love the Perfume Society. Some of the earlier boxes were a bit hit and miss, but they’ve hit their stride and have been releasing some fab boxes over the last 2 years. The last box wasn’t appealing though and I decided not to buy. It’s not a subscription service- you buy a VIP subscription for £25 which entitles you to their scented letter online magazine (which is very good) and heavy discounts. Each box is only £12.50 and for that you get at least 8 generous samples (including niche brands) and beauty samples (eg I’ve had Sarah Chapman serum, a full size Judith Williams body cream). Boxes are themed. With the VIP subscription you get a “free” box of around 10 samples across the range of scent families (there are some classics in here such as l’air d temps). Every box comes with a set of scent notes

BluebellGal · 13/10/2017 11:20

Oh and there are lots of events you get invited to with top perfumers

Eg Miller Harris event recently (talk with two perfumes) in London where everyone got a free FB of the latest fragrance plus other goodies (I imagine free sample). Ticket was £35 so quite a steal

BluebellGal · 13/10/2017 11:24

Actually the VIP educational box has 8 fragrances but 2 are around 10ml

Also the male boxes don’t contain notes. I’ve purchased the men’s ones for family and they’ve been a real hit. I actually think they’re more impressive than the women’s boxes. Last men’s box contained 2 Molecules,Agonist and another 2 samples from a top brand I can’t remember name of but FB is something like £300 (ridiculous sum of money!)

I’ve had three Francis Kurkdjian samples from PS and these have been my favourites. He is a master!

BluebellGal · 13/10/2017 11:30

I really like Killian Straight to Heaven kittens did you know PP do a dupe? I’m thinking of getting it for DH as he loves wearing this one

explodingkittens · 13/10/2017 12:39

My Notino order has arrived. They've sent me 3mls each of Shalimar and 24 Faubourg rather than the 1ml I ordered. Am in heaven, surrounded by little glass bottles and sprays like a kid on Christmas morning Grin

Bluebell you have really sold those Perfume Society boxes, some of the sample sizes are impressive as well! although I suppose I have enough to keep me going for a bit now
