WWW's much stricter 10yy boot camp putting easter behind us, WEEK TWO

WideWebWitch · 09/04/2007 11:38

Hello, let's put easter behind us everyone. Mine is literally on my behind, ahem.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Right I'm back. Dh actually noticed that I had put on weight yesterday (in a nicely meant, I like it when your boobs spill over your bra, way) which made me realise that I really do need to get back to being good. And I'm sick of minor headaches when I wake up.

Today has been good so far - 2 poached eggs on wholemeal toast and coffee. Lunch will be large amounts of smoked salmon and dinner a slightly unhealthy onion and gruyere tart with salad, but then the fridge will be empty and I will shop healthily tomorrow. I am about to go and get a bottle of water, and once the kids are dressed will be taking Roger for a walk
(Batters - I scrubbed the carpet on the steps he usually lies on with strong smelling stuff to remove the stains, and he's moved up 2 steps!)

I meant TOMORROW, not next week, freudian typo

Still on holiday, well with parents now so not quite the same. Now I need the food and drink to survive the endless chatting.

I am reaching heffalump proportions - scones and clotted cream every day last week. Walked loads and creamed religiously also drank lots of water. Didn't take part in the pasty fest that the rest of the family did so was very restrained as I love them.

Will not be home until Wed so will really be trying hard from then. Have just tried a dress on in Toast which looked fab on the assistant and crap on me (she was normal sized not waif like). I really want it to look good on me as it is beautiful.

Oh I am glad it is not just my liver that tells me off these days batters (psst Cynara Artichoke)
This is the week I give it big wellie. Have not eaten much choc over the weekend, actually (hurrah for everyone giving the dcs very sweet Cadburys fare which even I don't fancy much), did some energetic gardening, drank plenty (oh all right, of wine ) but have kept busy.
How's the skin? Better I hope

Hmm I gave up chocolate for Lent but made up for it sunday and monday with Nigela's Easter nest cake (oops)

Today: have eaten grapes and a banana and drunk some water. About to make lemon and ginger tea yummy,.

Walked a lot y/day tho and played a massive game of football with the DCs and their cousins and assorted hangers on - was quite puffed out

puddle · 10/04/2007 14:13

Ok bootcampers I am back.

I have put the bad stuff at work behind me, am feeling in a much more positive frame of mind and want to get ack on track with healthy living (now easter is over )

Have had porridge and baked potato so far today - about to go out in the sun with the kids.

And have had (ta da) my COLOURS DONE this morning. (Soft, warm and light, since you asked....) It's given me a good excuse to recycle all those clothes that don't suit.

Will be having a glass of wine tonight with the last episode of Life on Mars and then on wagon.

prufrock · 10/04/2007 17:23

Well I was very good (OK rather good) yesterday. Ate Ok-ish - bit too much cheese, but I was clearing fridge out after entertaining. Lots of exercise - 2 hours of energetic gardening with the kids, followed by 20 minutes on teh gym machines and 20 minutes yoga. Then a steam, used face mask and salt scrub all over, even grated dead skin off my feet. Then came downstirs and couldn't resist the 3/4 bottle of cava left in the fridge.

Bu I have taken the other unopened bottle out now, so will not be tempted by alcohol tonight - warm white wine is not attractive. And have eaten relatively well today, though will be having Spaghetti Carbonara tonight. And I put sunscreen and hand cream on this am and have spent day walking, well OK ambling, around wildlife park.

janeite · 10/04/2007 18:57

Ooh can I join please? Have totally pigged out today, as we've had visitors but will you let me play if I promise to start being good tomorrow?

I did wear sunscreen though and went a walk, so I'm not a complete lost cause!

WideWebWitch · 10/04/2007 20:17

Yoyo, well done for not taking part in pasty fest, are you in Cornwall? My Cornish aunts make the most fantastic pasties, irresistible. Hey, at least you're small enough to buy stuff from Toast, that's good!

Oh no Batters, re being ill, are you better today? lololol at 'assumed you'd died' and . Hey, your skin looked amazing last time I saw you so I'm sure will improve again.

Marina, yes, big wellie is what we must all give it this week. I really need to stay motivated, I have this 40th to go to in a month. We MUST all do well I feel.

Clary, that all sounds good, well done.

Prufrock, welcome back and haha at your dh leeringly noticing but the tart sounds lovely. And so does the Cava Today sounds better.

Puddle, Oo er re colours are you convinced? Bridget Jones's mum had them
done didn't she?

Janeite, welcome, of course you can join!

Not brilliant today:

Got half way to work after 10 days off and realised that although I'd made lunch I hadn't even thought about breakfast. So didn't eat until 10am and then had a bacon roll, oops, but it was one of those plastic burger rolls, no butter so I reckon what 500 cals? Not the end of the world, although not ideal
then rocket salad with sardines and beetroot and salad dressing for lunch
2 apples
a few walnuts, brazils and pine nuts
loads of water
walked half an hour at lunchtime and it WAS HARD WORK Again because I haven't been doing it for a few days, but at least it was with sunscreen
Was in bed having hot sex by 10pm last night (sorry tmi I know but I'm wondering about adding the 'have sex' rule back in, what do we think?)
and this is night 2 of no booze
we've just had delicious noodles with prawns, green beans, carrots, lime juice, chillis, garlic and sesame oil. I know I shouldn't have used the oil but I wanted to. Never mind, will be better tomorrow.
And I'm absolutely in the habit of taking the stairs now at work, walked up and down four flights at lunchtime and haven't used the lift for AGES
And have had milk thistle tablet and a Boots 'perfect skin' vitamin tablet. I have a feeling you have to take them EVERY day to make any difference so I must find a way of remembering

Well done everyone, keep it up. My skin is rubbish but will improve, I know and that is keeping me going

Oh I KNOW Batters, me too when I had time off.

Shall I bollock you every now and again, would that help d'ya think?

I've noticed I usually finish everything on my plate so I think I need to really think about portion size. Thanks for the tip about f&fs, maybe that could be a new 10yy acronym!

NadineBaggott · 10/04/2007 20:56

batters - twiglet was calling you earlier, did you see?

puddle · 10/04/2007 22:56

ha ha www about my colour experience!

I am now the proud owner of a pouch of swatches. It all seems incredibly naff and tacky but feel I may be a mad eyed convert. I couldn't believe how good I looked in some colours that I wouldn't normally have considered. Am definitely going to buy some new bits in 'my' colours.

HAve been relatively good today - fishcakes and veg for supper and two glasses of wine with Gene Hunt this evening.

London for the day tomorrow so anticipate a lot of walking. Batters we went to the London Zoo last week - the butterfly bit was lovely and dd adored Meet the monkeys - hope you have a good time.

monkeytrousers · 10/04/2007 22:59

okay I'm back to darken your doors. Have eaten the last of the choc today and drank the last of the wine.

Am a serious bloater though and need to take things in hand.

Question though - how do you all manage to remember to drink enough water? Do you all fill up a litre bottle and resolve to finish it by a certain time?

suzywong · 11/04/2007 01:09

hello

I'd love to have my colours done but the fad has yet to reach the antipodes

I am bag on the wagon this week:

Birchener museli - you know where you soak oats in juice and add dried stone fruit and blueberries over night and then finish it off with yogurt and nuts and seeds
I have been doing 50 sit ups a day for the past week plus free weights and it is beginning to show. Plus all the cycling and a new yoga class starts tomorrow.

Ooooh AND I tried one of those fresh face packs from Lush and it were great, really clear soft skin for a few days.

AND ... I don't naturally gravitate to wine every evening, so that's good, eh

Thanks to our inspirational leader WWW. Manly dead arm for you.

So Easter wasn't a model of virtue and restraint for everybody then?

I didn't eat any easter eggs but did partake in one or two glasses OK bottles of wine. This wasn't in my '3 weeks to get those rock and republic jeans you bought as an incentive over your arse' plan.

So in penance I took myself off to my first spinning class yesterday.

I realised my mistake when 10 minutes before the class began all of the bicycles were heaving with fit, tanned, young Aussies, willingly warming up on their own.

Then they locked the door and I was trapped.

While my eyes were still darting in a panic trying to find other exits the lights went out and strobe lights came on and then the deafening music started.

And then a psychopathic boot camp instructor appeared at the front with a microphone and started yelling abuse about how many easter eggs we'd all eaten over easter and that we WERE GUNNA HURT.

And it did. No-one told me you have to stand up and pedal. Really fast.

So, what with the deafening music, strobe lights, psycho boot camp woman with microphone and the fact that I couldn't find a bike at the back and was waving my huge arse about in front of lots of people (yes, beautifully illuminated with strobe lighting) it was all a bit traumatic.

One of the lessons that I took away from the experience, was to actually look at a class in action before locking yourself in with a psycho instructor. The second was that a bottle of wine takes an awful lot of pedalling to burn off.

I'm now desperately trying to undo the damage with an awful lot of salad and will remember the horror of the strobe lights next time I fancy a tipple. At least until the jeans go on.

monkeytrousers · 11/04/2007 07:22

LOL arfishy - I used to hate the 'locking' bit where you have to keep your upper body still and only use your legs. OW!
