FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2007 21:24

Right you were all so helpful on the other thread but the skirt has turned up and it is all wrong for me

So now I need an A line skirt in a beautiful bold print which I can wear with a black top

WHICH I CAN BUY IN A SHOP BEFORE SATURDAY

for less than £40

aitch has seen photos Some of us can only dream of what the great F&Z looks like...

Frances, the black dress will look very elegant, perhaps you can use a nice funky scarf to turban round head in an homage to the 1950s perfect housewife look?

\link}http://www.fashion-era.com/images/1914-1950/headscarf.jpg\like this?}

filthymindedvixen · 05/04/2007 12:42

or even this

like this?

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 12:57

OOh lord no I will look like Hilda Ogden

I am sure everyone will pick up on my MOTAT homage without spelling it out too much

and I know you are all laughing at me for wearing this dress to a child's birthday party, but it is mine and dp's party as well and I want something I can wear out to any nice occasion afterwards

PLUS I like dressing up

OP posts:
filthymindedvixen · 05/04/2007 13:07

I'm certainly not laughing!

I'm currently putting the finishing touches to my pirate costume for Sunday so there'll be no rocks slung from these quarters ....

MrsBadger · 05/04/2007 13:50

I'm not laughing either, I'm writhing in envy as am Building The Nursery this weekend and have had to buy a revolting boiler suit as none of my normal painting clothes fit over the bump.

with the anti-paint bandana on I'll look like a 30s communist postergirl...

OrvilleRedenbacher · 05/04/2007 13:51

i liek the balck and yellow one in monson
saw it this morning

SpawnChorus · 05/04/2007 13:53

Has this one been done?

Kif · 05/04/2007 14:29

Forgetting budget - here is a funky skirt

but if I were in your 'shoes' (or enviable slim bum big tits skin ) - I'd dabble in the 'volume' trend with tidy little 40s style blouses and prim handbag

NadineBaggott · 05/04/2007 14:31

that looks like a Moroccan lampshade

Kif · 05/04/2007 15:38

oh, and I've been so tactful! The word '70s carpet' and 'grannys curtain' haven't crossed my lips.

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 16:57

Oh I haven't any breasts either! Just a masculine type shape with shoulders and rib cage bigger than arse and hips

so a big flarey skirt is A Good Thing

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 05/04/2007 17:39

now franny

I have the PIL coming tomorrow (to help with the communist postergirl project)

I will have Very Limited MN Time

if there is any chance you could post a Brief and Compact post regarding whether any of the black dress variants are any good or not I would be very grateful indeed

thank you

NotQuiteCockney · 05/04/2007 17:40

I can post a review on Saturday night, of whatever she wears.

Actually, I think I'm going shopping in town tomorrow (to make up for my largely shitty week), maybe I'll go buy a flowery skirt to wear with a black top on Saturday.

NotQuiteCockney · 05/04/2007 17:40

Wait ... communist postergirl project? Que?

MrsBadger · 05/04/2007 17:42

see post of 13:50
we are renovating

NotQuiteCockney · 05/04/2007 17:43

Could you try for Rosie the Riveter? I think it's a better look than Communist Heroine, maybe?

MrsBadger · 05/04/2007 17:45

communist postergirl, capitalist postergirl, tomahto, tomayto...

NotQuiteCockney · 05/04/2007 17:46

Yes, true, I guess.

I quite like constructivist art, tbh. Nice clean lines. Hmmm, and we have a whole house to fill up with paintings, these days ...

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 18:30

Brief and compact? Moi?

NQC if you turn up in a fabuloso skirt, or post anything less than rabidly admiring about my outfit, I will be Very Displeased

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 18:34

And Mrs B, I am quite jealous of the boiler suit

I used to quite be a boilersuit and dungaree afficionado and I was terribly tempted to try this on last week

OP posts:
harpsichordcarrier · 05/04/2007 18:34

so did you go shopping today or wot?

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 18:36

No, I ordered that dress from Next

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 05/04/2007 18:44

I am contemplating wearing a skirt on Saturday, but it is v unlikely it will be anything you would describe as 'fabuloso' unless you suddenly start liking things with skulls on them.

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 18:46

I did tell you it is NOT a pirate party, didn't I?

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 05/04/2007 18:47

I'm not wearing my eyepatch! Or the parrot! But probably just one thing with skulls on. Maybe two.

Or maybe I'll wear one of my swirly tops and a pair of trousers? No idea.
