Franny's Big Important EMERGENCY Skirt Thread of Vast Urgency

FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2007 21:24

Right you were all so helpful on the other thread but the skirt has turned up and it is all wrong for me

So now I need an A line skirt in a beautiful bold print which I can wear with a black top

WHICH I CAN BUY IN A SHOP BEFORE SATURDAY

for less than £40

I don't get this thread. Why do you need to wear a black top? Rather sadly, I have clicked on every link (well if they are going to make me redundant I might as well use my time fruitfully) and most of them wouldn't go with a black top IMO.

THUNK! i can't believe I have been watching this thread with baited breath (for Frannzy seems to have similar taste and shape to me) and she opts for a perefectly inoffensive (but dull) freakin black dress!!

(i also dare not buy any more clothes. Ever. As I liked some of these skirts...I will opt for the potato sack.)

MrsBadger · 05/04/2007 10:19

[wakes up to find bed full of eels and landing light still on]
[sulks]

Franny that is outrageously elegant and could well look lovely (teal shoes and beads, eh?, eh?)

Franny at the party

filthymindedvixen · 05/04/2007 10:46

Mrs B you've done it again

Queen of Links

AitchTwoOh · 05/04/2007 11:40

all that hard work, and she wanted a black frock.

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 11:40

oh dear

are people really pissed off?

well I really, really, really did want a colourful skirt, but none of you could find one that we all liked (and I am sorry but 90% of them were just frightening) and HC YOU SAID GET A DRESS

and so did MrsB

and it won't fit anyway and I will be on here crying again tomorrow

(but yes, if it fits, teal shoes here I come )

Buy one of the nasty skirts?

I know my name is style mud now

Franny I have been rofl at this thread, I especially love your thread title.
Sorry I missed it last night (was at cinema on rare Night Out).

Just wanted to say that you are quite hard to please but I like OO's first skirt.
But FWIW what you need for a b/day party is something with pockets. I wore a pocketless skirt to DD's party last summer and kept losing my list of games. On Sunday at DS2's fabuolous pirate party I wore jeans, handy pocket for list of games, plus other pockets useful for discarded eyepatches, spare gold coins etc.

Maybe a skirt could have pockets but I fear we are going ever nearer pph's cello teacher there...

Tatties · 05/04/2007 11:43

Fran when do you need the skirt for?

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 11:49

Clary you may be on to something with the pockets

I feel confident that this dress comes fully equipped with party pockets

Topsy and Tim's mother would not have it any other way

Tatties, Saturday

AitchTwoOh · 05/04/2007 11:51

for the record, i love that cello teacher look. not sure an alice temperley skirt would be appropriate for a children's party.
a lot of those skirts (including the original) were fugly.

bozza · 05/04/2007 11:52

I am wearing teal shoes and a skirt today. The skirt is green from matalan with teal beading on it, and I am wearing a white shirt with 3/4 foldback sleeves - am at work.

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 11:53

Yes well at least no one can mistake me for a cello teacher in this one

will probably mooch round town anyway tomorrow and may even try on HC's Monsoon one

but the dress is back up

hopefully

Ooh bozza

MOTAT (Mummy of Topsy and Tim) would be proud

Are you wearing a pillbox hat?

Tatties · 05/04/2007 11:56

Bloody hell I have a black and white bold print skirt (which you may or may not like ) - you are very welcome to borrow it

Kif · 05/04/2007 12:00

I've never met the lovely franny. Had to presume she knew what she was doing with loud skirt. Every normally shaped woman would look better in slimming dark skirt and poss brighter top in colour carefully co-ordinated with skin tone - but 'willowy' sounds like a euphimism for get away with anything

Kif · 05/04/2007 12:02

(((())))*(((())))

Big Bum emoticon from Kif

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 12:07

Ah you see kif I have no bum at all and my top half is bigger than the bottom half

black top and nice colourful skirt is a good look for me

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 05/04/2007 12:08

me too, frank. although i've got to say that you don't look like an apple shape in photies.

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 12:08

Tatties thank you so much

I don't think that is an option now with the Easter post but you are very kind

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2007 12:09

well kind of appleish

I mean I only put on weight round my middle

have no tits or arse so some of the suggestions were right out

OP posts:
Tatties · 05/04/2007 12:39

Oh yes.. I suppose you couldn't rely on something arriving on Saturday. Well let me know if you want it for a back up.

bozza · 05/04/2007 12:39

But shoes and skirt are both from matalan and shirt is from H&M. And no hat. DD is wearing a rather fetching Easter bonnet made by my own fair hand (last year and then spent a few minutes frantically blowing dust off this morning).

I think you could wear a bright skirt, and a dark (but not black) top picking out one of the colours in the skirt.
