Calling all apples. What have you bought recently?

I'm trying to buy some new clothes but finding it impossible to find time or decide what I like.

Any other apple shapes care to share some wisdom about recent purchases which look nice? Ideally booby apples who are about a 12-14 and medium height! But any suggestions very gratefully received.

I asked this a few weeks ago and mostly got told to look at plus size places, which I'm ashamed to say knocked my confidence as i don't consider myself plus size although at the moment I am recently post partum so a bit bigger than normal though I admit this is a little pathetic.

Anyway hoping to get some inspiration from Apple shapes who have bought clothes recently

Huge thanks in advance

How have I only just found this thread?!??
Hello fellow apples

I’m 5ft 6 and size 12. Good legs, all my weight on tum and hips.

Recent purchases:

Hush Stella jumper: LOVE. Actually went for XL as I prefer an oversize fit to wear with skinnies. It’s perfect.

‘Mother’ scoop neck sweatshirt from the fmly store: love. Size L.

Hush Amie joggers: size S. Lovely and so comfy

Hush lightning bolt sweatshirt: Size M. Far too short. Stopped at my hips so effectively cut me in half and made me look huge.

Joules Breton top: 12 too tight on my tummy and 14 too baggy. Sigh.

Currently eyeing up the Hush Ivy dress in black so interesting that it’s made an appearance on this thread. What are you styling it with?

Also trying to persuade DH that I NEED some Ash Jalouse boots Grin

Appuskidu · 22/09/2017 13:00

Follow the light-I love that Stella jumper! What's the sizing like on the XL-could you measure it for me?! Blush

followthelight · 22/09/2017 13:13

Sure! DS asleep upstairs and I’ve just painted my nails Grin so will do it later. It really is a lovely jumper.

bingolittle · 22/09/2017 13:22

I bought 2 of this tunic from Simply Be:

www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/1/_/N-1ytvgps/Ntt-asymmetric+rib+tunic/products/show.action?hnid=2000&type=cmr

I think you can get it from other places as well.

I am a busty mega-apple and it is very flattering; wish they did it in other colours. Wearing it with skinny jeans and Chelsea boots and sometimes a leather jacket on top.

Drapes really well and so far hasn't bobbled (only washed twice). Thin fabric but not too see-through in my opinion.

Warning: the colour runs like crazy and has dyed a few things grey because I didn't sort the laundry properly. Still worth it!

followthelight · 22/09/2017 14:08

@Appuskidu Right, here are the measurements. I took them with the jumper laid flat.

Pit to pit: 58cm
Bottom of the ‘v’ neck to hem: 48cm
Total top to bottom: 70cm
End of sleeve to start of shoulder (ie sleeve length): 60cm

As I said, I’m a 12 and wear an XL for an oversized fit. It’s not tent-like, though. Just slouchy.

Appuskidu · 22/09/2017 15:25

Thank you so much!!

It's not dry clean only, is it? Grin

Anatidae · 22/09/2017 15:27

I will have to try these.

I've just given up on looking nice - nothing fits me, nothing looks good, I just look awful. Hate being this shape :(

FluffyNinja · 22/09/2017 16:00

Evans sell clothes from size 14 upwards and there are always loads of the smallest sizes left in the sales at bargain prices. The stuff is the same as you'd buy in Dorothy P's etc. but their popular sizes are always sold out.

RickOShay · 22/09/2017 17:22

Just, will you let us know about the boden dress?

ilovecherries · 22/09/2017 17:41

Oh, love these threads. I've recently lost a lot of weight and have gone from a 22 to a 14-16. Still very apple shaped though, and 34J norks. But given I'm re-building a wardrobe from scratch (and am still losing weight), love all the clothes suggestions, especially for clothes that have the potential to bridge a couple of dress sizes. The Hush thread was responsible for many purchases! Now off yo check out Espirit and Phase 8.

followthelight · 22/09/2017 18:42

@Appuskidu Therein lies the only downfall of the Stella. It’s handwash only

BUT...I took a risk. I bought some Woolite and put the jumper in a pillowcase on a 30 degree wool wash. Came out perfect. 👌🏻

Appuskidu · 22/09/2017 19:14

That's clever trick-I will bear that in mind Grin!

I love the Boden dress someone linked to as well but is it really £110?!

I need to know the length of the Hush Ivy dress if anyone has it-that's waiting in my JL basket!!

Itsgoodforthegarden · 22/09/2017 23:37

Well done ilovecherries! How did you loose all the weight?

Itsgoodforthegarden · 22/09/2017 23:42

Love the gold boots drizzlehair Grin

JustTheWayYouAre · 23/09/2017 09:34

@Appuskidu I bought the Boden dress with a discount code, so it was a mere £88 Grin

RickOShay · 23/09/2017 09:50

BargainGrin
and..... is it lovely and worth every penny?Grin

JustTheWayYouAre · 23/09/2017 09:58

Not arrived yet Rick, but it looks similar to a white company dress I bought last year which I love.

IMO, when boden very occasionally get it right, it's worth the cost.

Appuskidu · 23/09/2017 10:28

That's a bit less painful Grin.

I agree with you about when Boden get things right though- I have a couple of Boden dresses that are just perfect!

ilovecherries · 23/09/2017 11:02

Garden I've been doing the mumdnet low carb boot camp since May. It's been like a miracle. Still got a couple of stone to go but feeling so much better already. And shopping! Who knew shopping could be fun. (And, ahem, expensive!)

lookatmenow · 23/09/2017 13:49

Would love to these purchase on you rather than the models as it's not everyday you get to see an APPLE MODEL

Appuskidu · 23/09/2017 14:10

Definitely agree, lookatmenow!

RickOShay · 23/09/2017 16:12
