Calling all apples. What have you bought recently?

DrizzleHair · 15/09/2017 19:39

I'm trying to buy some new clothes but finding it impossible to find time or decide what I like.

Any other apple shapes care to share some wisdom about recent purchases which look nice? Ideally booby apples who are about a 12-14 and medium height! But any suggestions very gratefully received.

I asked this a few weeks ago and mostly got told to look at plus size places, which I'm ashamed to say knocked my confidence as i don't consider myself plus size although at the moment I am recently post partum so a bit bigger than normal though I admit this is a little pathetic.

Anyway hoping to get some inspiration from Apple shapes who have bought clothes recently

Huge thanks in advance

A few years back Asos had similar dresses to the Hush one Laska, I wore one of those to death. Will check them out!

DrizzleHair · 17/09/2017 20:08

Those dresses look so unflattering! I wouldn't ever think to try one on. Are you busty Laksa? If so I my have to try...

I looked on Esprit and found some shirts I feel vaguely optimistic about, does anyone think this is worth ordering or will it look awful on our shape?

Drizzle yes am quite 36E, I was also surprised at first as they do look very 'tenty' dont they? ,but someone recommend them on the Hush thread so I thought id give one a go . .. .

Ive had several compliments wearing mine.. So far I have worn with leggings and ballet flats, and opaques and loafers. I have worn a short cardi over a couple of times as well.. Will be boots later on in the season.

RickOShay · 17/09/2017 20:59

June, I will definitely update, and try to post some photos as well.

JuneFromBethesda · 17/09/2017 21:53

Ooh I like that dress SpitSpot!

statetrooperstacey · 17/09/2017 23:37

Rytham, I am going to go and try, I may b some time!

notheretoargue · 18/09/2017 20:42

Sorry not to have linked to the trousers! Here they are
m2.hm.com/m/en_gb/productpage.0527790001.genericdevice.html

Can't find the draped top on there, weirdly. But it was in the sale so might have been taken off the site now

notheretoargue · 18/09/2017 20:43

I love the leopard dress btw! But curious to know how it sits in your stomach ...?

Appuskidu · 18/09/2017 21:27

Can you possibly tell us how long that Hush dress is, Laksa? I'm 5 3 and the reviews seem to say it's really short (on short people, too!). I like knee-length dresses!!

AngelsWithSilverWings · 21/09/2017 14:58

Just wanted to say that I bought the first Esprit dress recommended by June and it's perfect. I'm a 10/12 and a 34E with a tummy and it's very flattering. Fits much better than the similar styles from Hush and is much better quality too. Thank you! Just wish I could justify buying another one in a different colour now.

tiggersdontlikehoney · 21/09/2017 15:34

watching with interest - 30GG and 5 3, with a protruding 'looks pregnant but really isn't' belly to hide Grin

JuneFromBethesda · 21/09/2017 20:04

So glad you like it Angels! Smile

dancelikenooneiswatching, I have a mock wrap dress I bought from Oasis last year that is my go-to smart dress for work (I mostly work from home so only need one or two smart outfits for meetings). It's a style they have fairly regularly - I couldn't see it on the website just now but worth keeping an eye out for as it's another easy to wear, flattering dress but a bit smarter than the Esprit ones.

Primrose06 · 21/09/2017 20:31

Deep breath and fess 34hh 5ft 4in decent legs but all fights in the middle for space so to speak.
Phase Eight sale is good as is Wallis or M and Co depends on your age . Not that I ever dress mìne nor have I any intention of it.

MrsEricBana · 21/09/2017 20:34

You are same as me OP. My hands down best things are Becca Batwing tops from Phase 8 and I have a gorgeous Becca dress too. I wear the tops with M&S super skinny trousers.

RickOShay · 21/09/2017 21:02

Have also bought the first Esprit dress. think June should get a free gift!
I like it but i am not sure about the drawstring, how tight are you pulling it?

AngelsWithSilverWings · 21/09/2017 21:51

Rick - I pulled it in and lifted the waistline up a bit so that the top drapes over very slightly to look a bit more like a top and skirt. It just suited me better that way.

DrizzleHair · 21/09/2017 22:26

I've spent god knows how much on pretty much all the things listed in this thread! And loads more from Esprit and H&M. Also some new trainers and gold boots which are AWESOME. If anyone wants to see them let me know any I will post a link.

Thanks everyone for ideas. I will report back once I've received and assessed everything.

I love the idea we can keep this thread going and help each other look gorgeous.

I'm keen to try the Becca batwing tops once I've returned everything I'm not keeping from my first binge...

Itsgoodforthegarden · 22/09/2017 09:32

Shameless place marking Grin

Itsgoodforthegarden · 22/09/2017 09:33

I love that you bought EVERYTHING OP Grin

Appuskidu · 22/09/2017 09:42

Drizzle-did you buy the Hush Ivy dress? If so-when it arrives, can you possibly measure how long it is for me?? A photo would be fab, too Grin

DrizzleHair · 22/09/2017 10:21

Gold boots of wonder here: www.hudsonshoes.com/ernest-gold-boot.html

(I've got some kind of recommend a friend thing after buying these, so if anyone does decide to get them pm me and I'll share, I think we both get money off)

DrizzleHair · 22/09/2017 10:24

I will let you know about the dress.

I do feel a bit mad buying it all but I haven't really bought any clothes in about 4 years, and I've got a 3 month old baby- my last - and I want to look nice again! I used to feel vaguely stylish some of the time but haven't for a while.

I should wait really as I'm breastfeeding all the time and plan to for another year or more, but I'm not waiting another year to look nice! Hence why I've tried some Esprit shirts.

I've been saving £250pm for a couple of years so it's time to crack into that nest egg...

Fingers crossed I look good in some of it.

Well, I can report back that the phase eight dress looks like a sack on me, so it's going back.

Have ordered this instead.

OutandIntoday · 22/09/2017 10:37

I got these in Sainsburys yesterday- the label says 4 way fit and they are super comfy. Says out of stock but plently in my local store- but confusingly not with the other jeans - on an end aisle on their own! tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Dark-Denim-Performance-Skinny-Jeans/132345609-DarkDenim
