Hello again. An S&B question if I may. Do any of you have experience of Uniqlo jumper sizing? I'm looking for something for my mother -a formerly slim woman who has now hit a combination of old age, a sedentary lifestyle and cake so has consequently become rather more spherical.

MsMartini · 13/11/2017 13:02

Hello MrsW! I don't find Uniqlo jumpers do much for me (I am technically same size top and bottom but beefier on top, big arms and shoulders - their jeans are fine for me, jumpers not)

MsMartini · 13/11/2017 13:03

The Gap jumpers often good for me

MrsWobble3 · 13/11/2017 13:14

MsM - is that because their jumpers are cut for slim people? My mum's arms aren't particularly beefy but she doesn't really have a waist so the body of the jumper would need to be large enough to avoid her looking like she was squeezed into a sausage skin.

MsMartini · 13/11/2017 14:36

I guess so yes or differently proportioned anyway as their jeans fit me fine (my favourites are all uniqlo) and in other shops I am the same size top and bottom (uniqlo uses waist measurements for jeans so can't compare)?. I have a waist and often find tops and bottoms that fit elsewhere are too big round my waist.

motherinferior · 13/11/2017 16:09

Oooh MrsW have missed you! You’re coming to the meet up, right?

MrsWobble3 · 13/11/2017 18:35

Planning to MI if someone can pm me details to remind me. I've got the date but not much else. And let me know if I need to send any advance payment to anyone too. Looking forward to catching up - have been busy at work and with dds. And have had a few weekends away - arranged on the basis that the dds would be off our hands by now - vicarious job applications are almost as hard as vicarious exams!

addle · 13/11/2017 22:20

hooray re MU, Mrs W. hope all going well with dds. re uniqlo - they do square shapes as well as fitted but it would all depend on proportions I think

IDismyname · 14/11/2017 02:32

I would describe the jumper I have from Uniqulo as being quite boxy. It doesn't do me many favours as I have a waist, but probably would be OK for a larger waisted person.
I do better with their jersey tops. Not tried their trousers but suspect I'm not the right shape for them.

MsMartini · 14/11/2017 07:38

Yes, my arms and shoulders comments were abotu the plain fitted merino or whatever lots of different colours jumpers and cardis

motherinferior · 14/11/2017 07:49

MrsW, I usually use MN on my phone and can’t PM - could you PM me? X

MrsSchadenfreude · 14/11/2017 08:11

MI - can't you PM via the three little dots in the corner of the message box?

motherinferior · 14/11/2017 08:16

What three little dots (says the big bad wolf?) where?

MrsWobble3 · 14/11/2017 08:50

Have PMd you MI

MrsWobble3 · 14/11/2017 08:52

PS - thanks all for Uniqlo comments. I have bought two in different styles so hopefully at least one will fit.

MrsSchadenfreude · 14/11/2017 10:31

On the phone app, you have the poster's name top left, and time of message top right. Under that you have the message. In the bottom right corner, you have three dots. Click on that and it's a menu, where you can report, reply, PM and a host of other things.

I have done charity shop run, been to market, Morrisons, come home and have done some homework (not housework). Grin

motherinferior · 14/11/2017 10:38

I have no dots on my iPhone Sad

MrsSchadenfreude · 14/11/2017 22:55

I have dots on mine! Grin

motherinferior · 15/11/2017 08:36

Get you and your fancy dotted ways.

MrsW have replied (twice: with email details and also MU ones!)

Rosenspants · 15/11/2017 09:02

Rant alert....why can't shops put knitwear on big enough, slightly padded hangers (if they have to hang sweaters at all...) so that the hanger doesn't make the shoulders stretch into an unsightly bobble which is permanent. Yes, John Lewis (and you H&M) ...I'm looking at you....
I was trying to buy a nice Mint Velvet drapey sweater yesterday, and all of the ones on the rail were hopelessly stretched around the hanger. I asked for one from the stock room and the assistant said..."well they're on hangers too. Best to buy online as they're more likely to be flat packed" Confused

here

Any way...other items from a recent splurge....

v neck fine knit but in lovely teal colour which they don't seem to have on line May buy others in different colours

straight jeans

major splurge intending to wear open, more as a jacket

Rosenspants · 15/11/2017 09:21

Oh and a quick ps...

Had a quick spritz of Next Paradise perfume....walking past, as you do...and I had to buy some. Fantastic dupe for a Chanel...probably Chance which I don't wear, but gorgeous and for just £8....!

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/11/2017 12:35

I have taken receipt of two successful dresses from Boden, Phoebe and, I think, Mabel. Phoebe is particularly useful and can be dressed up very easily as it is so plain.

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/11/2017 12:36

Unless, of course, you order a mad pattern.

motherinferior · 15/11/2017 17:08

I must check that perfume out!

motherinferior · 15/11/2017 17:15

Mainly for dd1. Keep thinking Zara also worst checking out but it’s much pricier...
