Hotter boots are on buy one pair, get the second pair half price, MI....

IDismyname · 21/09/2017 04:06

Yes, I reckon pasta, rice, few onions, bread, milk, cheese and maybe a couple of chicken breasts? Bag of 🍌 and few tins of beans.

I hear you on the loo rolls!

There is a mini Tescos on site, which (to me) is £££, and I told DS to use it like a corner shop.

motherinferior · 21/09/2017 06:58

I wouldn't get meat or anything that needs cooking within a certain date. But then I'm a hippy who would get tinned chickpeas🤣.

MrsS, I thought I'd do the First Order Offer again - either with the help of a mate or using the joint account and dp's name. I'm all about the frugality, me.Grin

motherinferior · 21/09/2017 06:59

Also tuna, and a bottle of olive oil. And rice.

motherinferior · 21/09/2017 07:00

Tinned tomatoes, garlic and a bag of frozen peas.

Rosenspants · 21/09/2017 07:27

Trying to remember what we did in advance. I've got a Macro card and took the boys around to get a few bits before the beginning of term. Successful seemed to be vast quantities of cereal, and like MrsW an amazing offer on toilet rolls and also tooth paste, which DS2 is still working though in his second year. A few tins maybe and some biscuits, stock powder to make soup quickly,. I do have some memory re DS1 which is a long time ago, that Asda did a huge sack of pasta for £1! I left the rest of the buying to them and encouraged family to send supermarket vouchers when they wanted to send a gift.

Rosenspants · 21/09/2017 07:36

three kilos but not £1 anymore

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/09/2017 07:48

MSB30 gives you 30% off, apparently, MI. Are we going to get thrown off S&B at this rate?

IDismyname · 21/09/2017 18:51

I still have an aversion to tinned tuna and kidney beans 25+ years after I finished being a student!

Thank you for your suggestions. He also has long life pitta bread and a packet of those felafels you mix with hot water

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/09/2017 10:13

I can't remember if I mentioned it, but I got DD2 a bargainous bra from Brastop. She is a nightmare to buy for due to size (32H), her criteria (only black, white or pale pink, not padded, not lacy, not see through, not embroidered...), but I got her a black Panache one that did the job.

motherinferior · 22/09/2017 17:40

I love panache.

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/09/2017 10:25

My new No Blow Dry cream arrived yesterday. It is amazing stuff. I put a small blob on my hair, scrunched it up a bit, and when it was dry, I had perfect curls. I added a bit of hair oil to define them a bit better at the ends (which are prone to frizz), but it looks really good. Better than post hairdresser actually.

motherinferior · 24/09/2017 10:55

Oooh. So how do you actually use it? Just bung it on and squeeze (ooer matron)?

The blokes next to me on the train are discussing, in great detail, how one of them is wearing trainers which are "ok but limited" as he can only wear them with blue jeans and grey trackies...

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/09/2017 12:33

I squeezed a small amount into my hand, rubbed my hands together and ran them through my hair, then scrunched it a bit to encourage the curls.

addle · 24/09/2017 13:36

So do you think it is best fr curly hair? Mrs s? Was Considering trying after magi's ex but hv no chrl whatever but lots of volume.

motherinferior · 24/09/2017 15:13

I would like to curl mine a bit more. It's v bushy.

magimedi · 24/09/2017 16:08

Unusually posting from holiday!

Have been using the nbd cream for a week on my v short straight hair and am v impressed. I put a small blob throuGh it when wet and comb it into style, leave it to dry, give it a brush and all is good. And my hair looks
Ok during the day which incldes much sea swimming.

Having a v chilled time.

Hope all the empty nesters are surviving.

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/09/2017 16:44

Addle - my hairdresser said it worked well on straight hair - made it look smoother and more groomed. Do you want me to bring you a blob in a small pot next time we meet?

MI - if scrunching doesn't encourage the curl, you could try "roping" - basically getting a length of hair, twisting it and leaving it to dry, then running your fingers through it to loosen the curls.

MM - hope you are having a good holiday.

herbaceous · 24/09/2017 16:58

Hello! Realised I never seem to post here any more. But it's not because I don't love you - it's because there are so many different social media cum internetweb obligations to keep up with.

I have just ordered some tops from Uniqlo, which I think counts as an S&B post. I need things that are a bit smarter than my many Primark t-shirts, but aren't actual shirts as they never fit. Thus:

Two of these

and one of these

I have also bought some new floral adidas trainers from TK Maxx, which I feel are rather with-it.

bigTillyMint · 24/09/2017 19:58

With-it Grin You sound like my mum in 1982 Grin

herbaceous · 24/09/2017 20:02

That was the aim. My mum also used to say 'fun' when referring to a garment she found baffling. 'Useful' would be applied to black polo necks, and the like.

Blackduck · 24/09/2017 20:55

Hola! I dip in and out here - problem being locked out of phone app and so can only post when on iPad.

I don't get hair scrunching and the like - ditto make up etc - clearly I'm not a bona fid girl.....

IDismyname · 25/09/2017 06:04

Lol @ 'with it' Grin

Just like my mum too!!

My Dad would comment 'That looks natty'... I've no idea where that comment came from, but it was a compliment.

IDismyname · 25/09/2017 06:06

I'm still searching for the NBD stuff. MrsS - where did you procure your stuff from?

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/09/2017 07:15

I got mine from FeelUnique, Airborne. But you can pick it up from any hairdresser that stocks Redken stuff.
