Ok so I'm on holiday at the moment and am wearing my Fit Flops. I have worn these in for weeks and they have still given me blisters.
I am thinking of getting some Merrells. What do we think? Are they ok or are they really awful? Honest answers please. I don't want to look like a saddo. Here are the ones I am considering.

No op don't do it, they are fugly and you are not!

Birkenstocks are very trendy and there are others in the shops which are very similar but with a bit more sparkle - see office for inspiration.

YolandasFridge · 21/07/2017 20:27

Nope sorry I stand by my post !
If comfort for walking very long distances is the ONLY criteria then fine , but they look awful.
They say " I've given up on looking good , comfort is more important to me"
That of course is fine if that's how you feel but I'm not sure it is!

LoniceraJaponica · 21/07/2017 20:32

"Birkenstocks are very trendy"

I really, really don't "get" the MN love for Birkenstocks. They are hideous. But then I don't "do" trendy. I don't know anyone who wears Birkenstocks in RL.

YolandasFridge · 21/07/2017 20:36

Basically depends if you want to look like you've given up on looking fashionable or not !
And she said she didn't want to look like a saddo
She didn't start a thread to ask which were the most comfortable walking sandals

blue25 · 21/07/2017 20:46

No, they're horrid.

partyof3 · 21/07/2017 21:24

Buy the pink ones OP. Or look at leather Teva or if abroad Mephisto. You are stunning!

HesterGreysGarden · 22/07/2017 08:01

Hi Hippy sorry I didn't see your post last night. The photos aren't very noticeable, just looks like your photo roll running across the bottom. I don't know how to get rid of them, but I've just put a post in site stuff asking for help and linking to this post. Hopefully get some help that way. I'm the only poster who seems to have noticed in the thread so it's not glaring or anything, but still worth knowing about Smile

WatchingFromTheWings · 22/07/2017 08:09

Love the pink ones! I'd wear those.

Horrible horrible shoes 😳

lurkingfromhome · 22/07/2017 08:46

The sandals are hideous. You look fantastic. Can I just say that I always had it in my head that pigtails on grown women were A Terrible Thing but you have completely proved me wrong ...

Also, could I possibly ask where you got your amazing green sunnies from? I think I might need a pair. Grin

LoniceraJaponica · 22/07/2017 09:19

"Basically depends if you want to look like you've given up on looking fashionable or not ! "

Grin I don't care about looking "fashionable". At my age it would look like fashion victim. Birkies might look OK on the young and trendy, but on middle aged women it just makes them look, erm, middle aged.

RaspberryBeret34 · 22/07/2017 10:39

Wow, op - I hope I look like you when I'm 52!! I think they're fine, useful for walking on hols - get the pink ones for daytime wear and something a bit prettier for evenings?

BunnyDog · 22/07/2017 12:22

I totally get needing comfortable walking shoes IF you do a real lot of walking on a daily basis - I do (walk to work, round the city etc) and I love it. Ultimately you have to compromise a bit of fashion if you want to properly walk miles at a time - its hard to do but sometimes you have to let it go! Blisters, rubbing are just so not trendy. I have tried Birkenstocks and they don't do the job. Save the fashion for all other shoes! Saying that I don't like the Pink Merrells much.....try Clarks. BTW you look lovely.

Floisme · 22/07/2017 12:45

Well I'm supposed to have given up old-lady-sandal threads for the sake of my blood pressure but the notion that ugly shoes are only for ugly people has sniffed me out.

Op, I'm not keen because I think pink will only draw attention to them. Personally if I was buying walking sandals, I would go for something properly, uncompromisingly plain. But they will look good on you because you look good. Love your plaits.

YolandasFridge · 22/07/2017 13:10

Lonicera why are you being so horrible?

If you don't care what you look like (and are just now being nasty to everything I say) why are you bothering commenting on a Style and Beauty thread?

Jog on in your Earth Spirit knit your own lentils granny sandals

lurkingfromhome · 22/07/2017 15:10

Also, I'm middle aged and I rock Birkies, I'll have you know. Grin Totally depends on what you wear them with.

BlondeGinger · 22/07/2017 15:19

Sorry I'm not a fan of either but just had to tell you how good you look after seeing your pics!

sausagepastapot · 22/07/2017 15:21

You're lovely but I think the shoes are absolutely terrible.

Girlsworld92 · 22/07/2017 15:30

Saltwater sandals are really comfy and do some lovely colours x

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/07/2017 15:35

Uncomfortable shoes show in your face

Comfort every time !

Floisme · 22/07/2017 15:48

The more I think about it, the more I think you should just do it properly and get them in the grey (taupe?) I wouldn't try and prettify them. You can make the grey look cool and insouciant whereas pink looks kind of apologetic, like you're embarrassed about wearing functional shoes.

Laquila · 22/07/2017 16:06

"You can make the grey look cool and insouciant whereas pink looks kind of apologetic, like you're embarrassed about wearing functional shoes."

This is a good point.

Laquila · 22/07/2017 16:07

How do you feel about these, OP?:
