I love the Finery dress. There are a lot of linen shifts like that in France at the mo - I find them too shapeless on me - you need some figure to make it work. Flipflops - the French seemed to have upped their sizes recently although I cannot speak for LaRedoubt.

Am desperately trying to get through to DD2 who thought she was fixed with a Starbucks job for the summer - apparently she thought the trial shift meant she had the job. She's stayed there because she was waiting to start. She has been a little naive but she really needs a break - and I'm so far away when she needs support. Not sure what she'll do if her exams are as bad as she says and now she doesn't even have a little job to boost her confidence. Have told her to come home but she needs really to stay and look for something.

NoCureForLove · 05/06/2017 16:14

this skirt is my Finery keeper - v nice and weighty fabric in rl - am kidding myself has a touch of the Vivienne Westwood about it.... other purchases HIDEOUS and going back...

Rosenspants · 05/06/2017 17:17

Hatty is there no possibility of her working at home? Flowers DS2 gets casual work though these people but might be only London

Would you like to meet her, and use my place as a half way house?

hattymattie · 05/06/2017 18:25

Rose - I think you are one of the kindest people I have ever met. Thank you so so much. She's showing true grit and has resumed her search. in fact she was beaten be somebody who was not a student who had more availability beyond the summer. I think they didn't make it clear to her.
She seems ok and says there are plenty of volunteering opportunities. Its just getting that first ever job to build up your CV that is difficult. I'll get to see her in three weeks at DD1's graduation. I hope she has something sorted by then.

Rosenspants · 05/06/2017 20:52

Anytime, Hatty. Honestly, we're only 20 mins from the rail station!

MsMartini · 05/06/2017 20:52

Oooh I like that shift, Crem. And pretty dress, Rose. Cure, your link isn't working I don't think.

NoCureForLove · 05/06/2017 22:44

this one - with a hefty discount!

MsMartini · 05/06/2017 22:59

Oooh, nice!

Cremolafoam · 06/06/2017 07:23

I really like that NoCure. Very good shape I think. I hate waistbands so skirts are a bit of a challenge for me.
Hatty , I do hope dd gets sorted soon. It must be a worry.Flowers

msmargarita · 06/06/2017 07:29

Hatty, for what it's worth, DD got her first job by going into places reasonably close to home when she wasn't getting any responses from her CV.

Ghastly blowy weather here. Setting out on wedding anniversary trip later - supposed to be lovely walk, dip in the sea and great meal. May be nice cup of tea and old film followed by great meal. All conducted in woollies and warm socks. The glamour.

Rosenspants · 06/06/2017 08:06

MrsM The forecast suggests dryer weather from about 2pm... Am back in long sleeves, a snood and a raincoat.

Rosenspants · 06/06/2017 08:17

Weigh Day - pounds lost this time - 2, Total loss - 6 and a half pounds

msmargarita · 06/06/2017 09:26

Yes, am keeping fingers crossed for afternoon. Mostly I would like to walk enough to be REALLY hungry this evening and enjoy amenities of nice b&b.

Well done on the weight loss, Rose. Is it getting any easier?

Rosenspants · 06/06/2017 09:58

In a word... NO. Grin

motherinferior · 06/06/2017 10:21

In S&B news, I have my slippers on.Smile

herbaceous · 06/06/2017 11:50

Rose - what is your regime? I can't really do 5:2 at the moment as I'd kill someone (or myself) but am attempting a mash up of lowish carb and the No S diet. Plus doing the couch to 5K again, going for my staggers while DS is in choir rehearsal.

Rosenspants · 06/06/2017 12:01

I do slimming world but hate going to classes so I do it online. The little email once a week telling me to log in and weigh myself is quite good motivation, and the website is very good .... and you can eat carbs. I'll never be able to do atkins type diets and I don't think the 5:2 works because it's very hard to stick to.

motherinferior · 06/06/2017 12:07

I think the trick is to find something you can just about manage, as with exercise. I have friends who find 5:2 the best option. I am not good when hungry...

herbaceous · 06/06/2017 12:15

I stuck to the 5:2 longer than any other diet, as I liked the way it wasn't constant deprivation. During a fast day you could look forward to your cake the next day. But then often wouldn't really want it when allowed.

However, it did sometimes make me short-tempered, and as I'm on a hair trigger with the HLSs, best not to risk it!

MsMartini · 06/06/2017 12:21

MI, I think you've come up with a good line there. Diet and exercise JAM. I agree. I have discovered I don't keel over with no breakfast and can then do a short intense exercise class in the morning. Younger fitter people then go off to a second class but I go home and will now think I jammed that!

motherinferior · 06/06/2017 12:54

DP, following Scalesgate, had the brass neck to say he doesn't think we eat enough veg. When I took we eat MASSES of veg. When he cooks, not so masses.

Tempted to send him a pic of my customary lunch stirfry which today includes shallot, garlic/ginger, sliced peppers, mushrooms, spring greens and edamame beans, along with some nice protein-rich whole grains.😡

Rosenspants · 06/06/2017 13:03

It's as much about personality as anything else, isn't it? I know that if I get hungry, I'd sell someone's grandma for anything to stop the craving. If I then had the opportunity for cake the next day, I would eat nothing but...Hmm and ruin all the good work from the fast days.

motherinferior · 06/06/2017 13:14

Oh yes, I'd sell one of the kids. Depending how much I could get for them.

Rosenspants · 06/06/2017 14:59

Sell the kids.....why didn't I think of that. Cake Cake Cake Cake Cake

Blackduck · 06/06/2017 17:55

I need to get back to 5:2 - although at the minute two jobs means lunch doesn't happen...
