I have no shape, I just look like a big flowery barrel.

Sorry for the rubbish angle of pic.

Any suggestions as to what sort of frock would suit my shape.

I think it looks lovely. Would probably wear heels with it.

Reow · 16/05/2017 20:07

I think if you added some bright heels and lost the tights it could last ok great! Is it for an occasion?

I think that style of dress needs heels to lengthen you up a bit, but it's definitely not the wrong shape.

SansaClegane · 16/05/2017 20:07

Sorry, no. It seems to cut you in half.

I'd try something v-neck, and maybe slightly asymmetrical in the lower half (hem; or ruched on one side?).

gnatgnu · 16/05/2017 20:07

I really like it too!!

Moregilmoregirls · 16/05/2017 20:07

Personally I'm not a fan of big prints, I find they can make you look bigger. Block colours are more my style, I like the way the top half fits you op.

StopTuggingMyMink · 16/05/2017 20:07

Vivien of Holloway halterneck circle dresses look amazing! Google them. They're my go-to dress up dresses.

WatchingFromTheWings · 16/05/2017 20:09

Yes to pp suggestion of lighter tights and bight heels! Probably a pink pair to match one of the pinks in the flowers??

wifeyhun · 16/05/2017 20:09

I have a couple of events over the summer one being a wedding.

My 15 year old said it made me look bigger that what I am.

It does seem to cut me in half doesn't it?

I'm 5ft 8.

It's not brilliant but it's not awful. I think you'd suit something that flatters your curves rather than try to hide them. Where will you be wearing it?

Asmoto · 16/05/2017 20:10

I think it needs something at the neckline to balance the vividness of the skirt - have you tried it with a statement type necklace or a scarf in similar colours if you have one? I agree with pps that heels would look good too.

MrsLettuce · 16/05/2017 20:11

Well, TBH, the shape of the dress is good on you but the fabric and pattern of the skirt less so. That's the dress though, not you. I suspect this would be more flattering.

MalmseyWhine · 16/05/2017 20:12

I'm a similar shape and would go for a block colour, or an all over pattern with a straighter skirt so you're not cutting off at a wider area and drawing attention to it.

This is very flattering on me

I think the shape is fine, I think the problem is the large print over ur tummy, in contrast to plain on top. Even so, it looks quite nice!

missanony · 16/05/2017 20:13

like the sleeve and neck but probably better to have the print up top.

wifeyhun · 16/05/2017 20:16

Yes I agree with everyone, thanks for the suggestions, I don't feel comfy in it so it is going back.

I like the top half as I don't like my arms.

Bet we can help you find something you love What's your budget?

this is an excellent dress but maybe too pricey, comes in a few block colours.

ZaZathecat · 16/05/2017 20:21

I think Malmsey's dress would look good on you.

MrsLettuce · 16/05/2017 20:22

Malmsey's dress is great! I though you'd gone for a 50's style cut but maybe I was looking wrong.

wifeyhun · 16/05/2017 20:22

That is a lovely dress Lettuce. I would say £100 ish would be max budget.

I do like Malmsey's dress as well.

I hardly ever wear dresses so coming out my comfort zone a bit.

That dress is the Eva from Monsoon. £29.50 in the sale.

MrsLettuce · 16/05/2017 20:32

What sort of thing do you wear day to day? It's not illegal to wear trousers to a wedding/events you know!

LanaDReye · 16/05/2017 20:34

Would a brighter or patterned top and darker lower half be better? I am bigger on my bottom half and think that way around works better for me could be wrong through .

wifeyhun · 16/05/2017 20:38

I live in black usually. Black jeans, cropped trousers. Casual tops.

I def think a darker bottom would be better. My backside looks very wide.

You honestly don't have to wear a dress to look appropriately dressy. I'll have a rummage. Will you wear heels, or rather not? what size do you take? The skirt makes it impossible to gauge.
