I have no shape, I just look like a big flowery barrel.

Sorry for the rubbish angle of pic.

Any suggestions as to what sort of frock would suit my shape.

It was something about the styling ......!

BitOutOfPractice · 16/05/2017 23:16

I think you might need to go a bit lighter with the blusher OP! Wink

neonrainbow · 17/05/2017 07:48

I would avoid a completely black dress. I would also go for a v neck wrap style i think its very flattering.

Floisme · 17/05/2017 07:58

I like the shape but I agree with others that it cuts you in half. I really like Malmsey's too and it sounds like a good price.

I know you didn't ask about colours so feel free to ignore this but are you sure black suits you? It's hard to tell from the photo but your skin tone looks quite similar to mine and black is probably my worst colour - it washes me out completely.

ilovecherries · 17/05/2017 08:17

Is that a Scarlett and Jo dress? I often find they don't get it quite right. Have you looked at the Lyra from Lady Voluptuous? It's well within budget and it gives you a nice waist without also giving you a massive arse, which I find can be a bit of an issue with any sort of cinching round the middle.

Floisme · 17/05/2017 08:26

Sorry if my post looks a bit random - I'd completely missed a whole page of comments Blush

wifeyhun · 17/05/2017 09:44

Thanks to all those that have replied. You have all been very kind in your comments.

Floisme, I am quite olive skinned, have dark hair and very dark eyes.

Yes it is indeed a Scarlett and Jo dress I thought I would see what all the fuss was about.

Had a look at Lindy bop, they have some lovely dresses.

I am 5'8" and size 18 so similar to you op. I have found dresses from 'Get Cutie' very flattering (and a bit 'different') - Some amazing fabrics. Here is a couple of mine (on me!!)

The lyra dress mentioned above is very pretty.

saz9382 · 17/05/2017 10:51

No I'm so sorry to say this but it really doesn't suit your shape. The black part of the dress is too short and stops at the wrong part of your body to flatter your figure. Xx

NashvilleQueen · 17/05/2017 10:54

Don't be put off by low prices at Lindy Bop. I have about a dozen dresses from there and the quality is very good. Also they are v quick at fulfilling orders.

froomeonthebroom · 17/05/2017 11:12

I tried that dress too and found the contrast of the top and bottom too harsh. I've bought it in another colour way. Will try to link.

wifeyhun · 08/06/2017 13:03

Hi

Me again.

I decided to buy a cheapy wrap style dress to off Amazon to see if the shape suited me better.

Don't mind brutal honesty.

Still need to buy decent pants and I don't own any heels as yet.

I like it. With accessories, it could be a goer.

How do you feel in it?

wifeyhun · 08/06/2017 14:05

I feel ok in it. It is very comfy

I was thinking of a nice bright jacket or shrug to go with it.

loveka · 08/06/2017 14:08

The thing about cheapy is the cut is not good. I think the shape suits you. Try a wrap one from Boden maybe? They usually do free returns.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 08/06/2017 14:09

What about something like this. Make sure you've got a well fitting bra .

bruffin · 08/06/2017 14:28

ive just bought this for a wedding at the weekend Its that scuba material and hangs beautifully]]

wifeyhun · 08/06/2017 14:28

Will check Boden thanks. I agree the material is quite cheap it was only £20.

I agree with well fitting bra.

The blue dress is lovely, more classy than the first.

You'll look ace Smile

Almostthere15 · 09/06/2017 08:04

I agree that the blue dress is a better shape overall, but as the material is not so thick it doesn't skim so you need a good foundation in the the form of underwear. I'd be tempted by a long line body under or v high pants so you don't get a crease. If that style is what you like I agree phase 8 might be worth a look.

It'll look miles better with a heel I think too.

allegretto · 09/06/2017 08:07

I don't think the colour suits you, sorry.

fabulousathome · 09/06/2017 08:49

I like the blue dress but thick it needs longer sleeves. It's particularly flattering to have sleeves that end between your wrist and your elbow.
