Good grief MI!!!

addle I agree with the others...I always think you look young and pretty with your hair as it is. But it's fun to try something new sometimes...I go from longish, to shorter and back to longish again...never very short though...

wordassociationfootball · 14/04/2017 18:27

Fringes like this would suit you Addle

uk.pinterest.com/pin/34340015887088957/

but I'd keep a fair bit of length

Damn - mini eggs all slid down.

Lalsy · 14/04/2017 18:31

I have also had a surprisingly tiring day - gym class, shopping for vast Easter egg for ds, whose face lit up like a little' un (I usually manage to screw this up, reaching a low point the year there were no cheap normal chocolate eggs left and the dc had to have small hand-crafted artisan ones in ceramic cups), arrangement-wrangling with ILs, made dh go to Crossrail exhibition with bribe of large Waitrose gin selection afterwards. I was entranced by the skeletons, the plague stuff and the how-to-organise-a-massive-tunnelling-project details. So handy.

Yes those long fringes would work Addle. I can't cope with them myself, my hair goes in my eyes and drives me mad!

Lalsy have you given DS his egg already? I thought it was meant to be on Easter Sunday?!
Did you ever go to the Chunnel exhibition? We used to take the kids on school journey and visited it a few times - I seem to remember that had all manner of tunnelling detailsGrin

herbaceous · 14/04/2017 19:42

Ooh, glad you went to the Crossrail exhibish Lalsy. Did you check out the recreated Docklands of Yore on the second floor, also? That's the best bit - shops and pubs, etc, with a soundtrack of salty sea dogs being bawdy.

Addle - I like your hair too, but maybe it could go shoulder length, and a bit less 'weight' around the face.

Another exhausting yet good day. Got the high speed train to Ashford, then a lift, to Dungeness, where some friends have recently bought a cottage, right on the beach, near Derek Jarman's house. As they're architects, they stripped it all back and painted it white throughout, and it is most calming. It drives them mad that they can't remove the faux leaded light strips from the windows, however! Had a good schlep across the gravel to a lighthouse, climbed up it, had blustery drink in pub then tasty meal chez lui. Followed by trying some 99% cocoa chocolate, which was 'interesting'.

The only gin I had was one in a tin on the train home. Now for my first evening in since Monday. Mmmmmmm. IN.

Lalsy · 14/04/2017 20:10

Oooh Herbs, that sounds like a wonderful day! I have been to old docklands bit before - when dc were little we were at that museum a lot as it is free, on the cool DLR, and when there, you could pretend to flood London and drive a DLR. And there are goats nearby.

Don't think I ever saw the Chunnel one, BTM. And yes, but he hasn't opened it yet. He seems to be revising sensibly and without grumping so a glimpse of wonder seemed in order. He is coming out for the day with us tomorrow - he says is he "content" to do so, filled with neither excitement nor dread. Grin

Addle, I think I have seen you with a fringe? I think your hair looks nice as it is now, but also liked it when it had more layers (but no fringe). Are bangs what Laura Ingalls had?

Am sipping a gorgeous sherry.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 14/04/2017 21:16

Oh you can't beat a good sherry Lalsy!

Addle you are gorgeous and like the sound of a fringe - it's energising to have a change.

Cremolafoam · 14/04/2017 21:39

I know I'd have loved that exhibition Lalsy
Longer fringe, as pictured would frame your lovely face beautifully Addle. I'd quite like that look myself except for it making my already round face look like a pomme de terre d'Irlande du Nord.

Watching the thing with Jack Whitehall in. Q amusing.Smile

Cremolafoam · 14/04/2017 21:48

this hair

magimedi · 14/04/2017 22:07

Am very partial to a good sherry - most unrecognized drink ever, IMHO.

Shame that I don't have any & have had to partake of white wine ce soir.

Hic...

Bon soir.

Blackduck · 14/04/2017 22:13

Just watched Car Share season 2 (only 4 episode) and cried at the end - because it was true to them as characters.

Lalsy · 14/04/2017 22:25

Yes, I vote for that hair for addle too, Crem.

The sherry is an oloroso, bought at a stall before Christmas. I will be going back....

GiddyGiddyGoat · 14/04/2017 22:55

V partial to a manzanilla myself...

MrsWobble3 · 14/04/2017 23:02

Just back from an impromptu theatre trip with the dds. Dh is away and there has been what appears to be diligence in the Revision Lockdown and there was nothing I wanted to watch on telly so I suggested an early tea and trip to the west end. I was slightly surprised to get good tickets to 42nd street - very enjoyable and spectacular tap dancing. Recommended if you like that sort of thing, but probably not otherwise as there is no drama and some slightly wonky NY accents. But truly spectacular routines.

MrsSchadenfreude · 14/04/2017 23:06

I'll also vote for that cut for Addle.

Please can you find me a good cut, Crem? My hairdresser is currently on maternity leave and my hair now resembles the ears of a wet spaniel.

We had a bluebell walk in the morning then spent the rest of the day rehearsing and performing in another St Matthew Passion, in English this time, with DD's youth orchestra, pro soloists & the adult choir from the music hub. Choir was friendly (DH & I were last minute additions this week) & orchestra was wonderful. I felt significantly better than I did two weeks ago. Loved seeing/hearing DD & her friends playing this music I've been immersed in for 3 months.

Hattie, we walked miles looking for food in the Louvre, one snack place wanted €16 for a croque Monsieur Shock

Re shampoo, I've been avoiding L'Oreal under the impression that Nestlé owned them, am I mistaken?

Have felt too awful to want a drink for 2 months & don't miss it. Like the idea of a gin Grin but not enough to have one.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

CointreauVersial · 14/04/2017 23:26

Love Car Share, BD. Apparently they are great mates in RL.

NU - I'm an Elasticizer fan also. But the best thing I discovered via the M&S Advent Calendar is the Josh Wood Hair Oil, which imparts a certain swishyness to my dry and frizzy locks.

Crem - didn't see any Irish Dancers in Belfast; I think we just missed some sort of festival. But the people were so great. Random strangers waving us into parking spaces, or asking if we were lost if we so much as hesitated on a street corner.

Nice day today, doing lots of satisfying little tasks; nothing too taxing. Still wading through the holiday laundry pile. DD1 has a friend over, DS (finally!) did some revision and has now gone out to a driving range. Roast chicken for dinner.

Have decided not to buy the DCs Easter Eggs this year, in favour of a crisp fiver each. They were perfectly happy with this plan, win-win.

Had a lovely Bulgarian chap round this morning to do a quote for wood flooring in our living room/dining room. He helpfully pointed out that the drop in floor level at the back of the house is probably due to subsidence, caused by inadequate foundations under the extension. I think sincerely hope it's not moving any more, because if it is, tough, we can't afford to do anything about it, really. Bloody house. I guarantee that something nasty will be lurking when we take the carpet up. The whole place needs redecorating too.

CointreauVersial · 14/04/2017 23:28

Auriga - I don't believe L'Oreal is owned by Nestle - at least they weren't when I worked for them.

Collymollypuff · 14/04/2017 23:37

Your hair always looks fab, CV. Thanks for the fiver idea, too.

Have a great weekend, too, Auriga - and all other Crepeys. Well done on all the baking and decorating achievements in evidence on FB. I shall feel proud if I get my aubergine seeds planted.

Auriga · 15/04/2017 00:57

'Nestlé's participation in L'Oréal has been beneficial to both companies for many years. L'Oréal knows that it has the full support of its two biggest shareholders, Nestlé and the Bettencourt family, whilst Nestlé has benefited from the significant increase in the value of its investment over the long term.'

From the Nestlé website.

hattymattie · 15/04/2017 07:51

Great idea about the fiver CV. Will do this for DS, as he's the only child at home for Easter anyway.

Was just about to say, I thought L'Oreal was the Bettencourt family - didn't know about the Nestlé aspect. I used to boycott Nestlé because of the baby milk scandal. Have they not improved since then?

Is a little drizzly today. Also planning to get ahead with small tasks.

Beachy - thank you very much for the invite to the BBQ. It sounds so lovely - one day, we much attempt to attend. I still cannot remember which county you are actually in - I have been meaning to say for a long time that I love how you go to the beach on Christmas day.

bigTillyMint · 15/04/2017 08:34

Yes Beachy, thank you for the invite - sadly probably unlikely that we will make it this year, but you never know!

My auntie (who we will see later) was a shop floor supervisor in a Nestle factory and used to get all sorts of misshapen chocolates and biscuits!Blush

We set off ridiculously early and are now in Wales. I need a coffee!

motherinferior · 15/04/2017 08:57

Invite? What invite?
