I have just surfaced. So has DD1. DD2 is grumpy because she has a saxophone lesson and hasn't practised. DP is doing domestic stuff downstairs. I could get used to this kind of Friday morning.Grin

motherinferior · 14/04/2017 11:18

Mine love fairy lights - DD1 has them all round her room - and choc. That's my girls.Smile

Just back from the Raising of the Cross on our village green - I guess it's been done for many years. Lots of puzzled looks from passing motorists as I think there were probably 500 people there. Unfortunately it is raining.

CV, good to hear the news about your DSM - have a lovely family weekend with her. Sorry to hear about your NDN, MM: how kind of you to have the family to lunch.

Hang on in there, BD. Am impressed with the idea of an Easter tree, but too late now to get some decorations, Rudy. How are all our ailing Crepeys?

I have been discharged by my consultant, but had an interesting conversation with him about the difference between the two knee replacements. The new one is much better: rarely any pain or discomfort now unless I do too much. The old one, on the other hand, is with me all the time: quite often painful, but in any case I am aware of every movement. It turns out that the year after I had it done they changed the supplier of the joints, so that probably explains the difference.

We have had a very hectic week with the grandchildren: Tuesday was Alnwick Gardens followed by afternoon tea at a small bakery in Felton: delicious and definitely not in the dainty category- I think rustic would best describe it, but would certainly go again. Wednesday we had just DGS1 and DH took him out cycling in the afternoon, Thursday was the afternoon when we had all four DGC and we made chocolate lollipops and fairy cakes decorated to look like nests. We were exhausted by the time they left.

I have had highlights in my hair for years and am horrified at the thought of going grey - I like both Aveda and Ojon treatments/shampoos and conditioners. I have also started putting the Philip Kingsley elasticiser on my hair courtesy of the Marks and Sparks advent calendar, and like the way it makes my hair feel.

motherinferior · 14/04/2017 12:19

I am reliably informed mostly by people who have had a D&S or two that ditching the dye was the right thing for me. Unfortunately DP doesn't seem to agree but I hugely enjoy living without the faff and timing. And being told how fab it looks.

IDismyname · 14/04/2017 12:22

Update on BNS lasagne - not good, really...

It got cooked beyond its 45 (suggested) minutes, but still had too much 'bite'. If you're going to try, suggest steam it for a few mins before assembling?

Also boys figured it out immediately! Good job there was still plenty of cheese sauce. TBH, I rarely make lasagne. By the time I've done the mince, I've lost the will to cook very much more, which is why its usually spag bol in this house.

I have done an Easter tree for the first time this year. I think its because I missed Christmas, and I had some hanging eggs that I picked up in Austria a few years back. (Now there's a country that 'does' Easter decorations...)

I think I am growing out my blond highlights that have been my mode of colour since I was about 18, so they're looking pretty urgh. I will try some some of the shampoo recommended.

I may go totally grey, hate it, and revert back to blond - but it's something I've been meaning to do for a while

Lalsy · 14/04/2017 12:29

MM, that's lovely. And her family will know that she was much more than "just" a neighbour.

NU, I have never tangled with any of this. So is there something I can do easily at home that would take the edge of the white/grey?

Stropps, I decided a couple of years ago (after a dry January) that booze - well wine and beer anyway - doesn't really agree with me. I have cut down on random drinking of not so nice booze and take my cocktail habit more seriously - but am drinking much less overall - often a (whopping) gin on a Saturday and that is it. Feel much better and somewhat nicer.

I love your hair MI, the colour is brilliant and it really suits you. So there!
I have purple shampooed my hair with something bought in Boots, but the blueness has wiped off the labels so no idea what it is. I don't know whether to keep growing or chop again. Too many things to think about.
Dh is rustling up some lemony madeleines, I have lit ( lighted ?) the fire and am lolling with toast [the eating kind] and a Hush catalogue. Nice batwingy tops as recommended by MN. Hmm 😒

DP roasted a chicken. And did the washing. He is being a bit martyred, given nobody actually asked or indeed expected him to roast it. He could just as well doss around like the rest of us. Ditto to getting up at 8am.

Nice tops, Rudy.

hattymattie · 14/04/2017 15:08

Nice tops Ruby and nice colours as well.

Am back exhausted from looking at great art - and being surrounded by two many peaople. I think I like the Louvre much more in the evening when there is practically nobody and a great atmosphere. Anyway, very enjoyable with DS who then took me to his favourite Japanese restaurant not far away. Have moaned to DS that the Louvre really could get its act together with in house cafes, especially when compared to the V&A.

I retried Cos coatigan but I didn't purchase crepies, although I like it a lot, there is something not quite right with how it sits on my neck. If it were to come down in price, will buy and wear with a scarf like Cloud.

Am now slumped at home.

MrsSchadenfreude · 14/04/2017 15:53

DH is still nursing his hangover. I have made a butternut squash, cheese and onion tart, and have gin. DD1 has gone to school for revision session. DD2 is drawing. The cat is curled up next to me, purring loudly.

I have continued to do bog-all. DP has made a cake and is complaining how tired he is.Hmm

bigTillyMint · 14/04/2017 16:24

Revision sessions on a Bank Holiday? Even DS's school don't do thatGrin
DS is actually in the kitchen revising with his mateSmile
DD has gone for a picnic. Brrrrr (but I'm sure the Echo Falls will warm her cockles!)
I have been for a haircut and can now relax for a bit as DH has taken his mum and dad to the pubWine Girding my loins for a mammoth drinking session tomorrow at my cousins wedding!

Hatty, sounds like a nice outing with your DS.

Rudy, love your colourful tops.

Lemony madeleines and a fire sound good Cremo.

motherinferior · 14/04/2017 16:33

You can do it, BTM. It'll be a tough gig but we have faith in you.Wine

Rosebag · 14/04/2017 16:53

Trying to catch up. CV I have been wondering if you're ok. So glad about the good news re DSM. What a worry it must have been. Most Crepeys sound like a pleasant good Friday is being had. I too am Shock that revision sessions are going on, on a bank holiday, MrsS but I at least you are resolved to switch off a bit over the long weekend. Lord knows you deserve it.

It's blissfully peaceful hereabouts and the weather has been lovely. Yesterday as FB followers will know, me and DH spent the day at a lovely NT property and I was childishly happy to do a bluebell walk at the right time of year for once. I am a little Blush to admit to the encroaching Crepeydom of having joined the NT to get free entry and free parking... lovely road trips through through the South Downs too
and the discovery of new villages to visit inland for the future.
More walking today...trying to clock up in excess of 10,000 steps daily. Ended up at the beach on the sun.

The DC are doing their thing back in the Smoke, and are getting the train down tomorrow. On the downside. I am eating waaaaaay too much and am getting to that point in a kind of 2-3 year cycle when I have to take self strictly in hand. Or I will surely explode.

addle · 14/04/2017 16:54

Relaxing in beautiful garden yards from sea not far from Hastings. War &up on my knee but actually catching up with you lot. Back on Sunday evenin so lots of relaxing to fit in but I'm braced for it.

I condtion my hair once a week with jaoaneee stuff that's supposed to cover grey. No idea how well it's working but hair feels good after.

Have a good Easter, crepeys.

Ps should I get a fringe and shorter hair crepeys who have met me?

magimedi · 14/04/2017 16:58

Waves to everyone on the South coast.

Went out for lunch & have pottered this afternoon. Made meringues & mayonnaise; the meringues are for Sunday lunch & the homemade mayo is my Easter treat as I don't like chocolate very much.

Rudy - love that top - am very tempted for myself. What is hush sizing like?

bigTillyMint · 14/04/2017 17:10

Addle, I am trying to imagine you with a fringe and shorter hair because I think you look lovely as you are. What sort of short style? Pic needed to imagine!

We are tentatively thinking about a summer hol potentially in the Pyrenees maybe. But it will probably have to be something booked last minute and so could be anywhere hot. But it's nice perusing!

hattymattie · 14/04/2017 17:21

Addle - I like it as it is as weĺl.

motherinferior · 14/04/2017 17:25

Addle, you're gorgeous.

Mind you so am I ATM

GiddyGiddyGoat · 14/04/2017 17:38

Had a surprisingly tiring day doing very little!
Coffee / brunch with dh followed by Tate Modern (just a couple of rooms of a temporary exhibition), food shopping and long walk with ddog... Can't believe how long that all took.

Happy long weekends to all. Wishing everyone much chocolate / gin / reading / cake eating / [delete as appropriate]
