What ho to all those in the crepetoire. And thanks for new thread. Would it, and MI's trainers, perhaps be 'on fleek'? Or is that like totally five minutes ago.

Also thanks re tips re DP. He returns from Brussels this evening, and we'll have fish and chips en famille. Always cheering.

I am bushed. All the emotional leavings of the week are taking their toll. And then today I had to take DS to Moorfields by train, then back to school by train, then walk home, then drive to Haringey for leaving drinks with adult ed place, then back to friend's house (where DS was as I'd forgotten school ended at 2pm today), then home. Shortly to go out again to choir. Have pounding headache. May have quick nap.

And I've spent most of it with some kind of bowel complaint, which has added a level of peril/discomfort.

Am considering wardrobe for new job. Has to be consistent with cycling to work, so thus either comprise leggings or tight trousers on the bottom, or be easily changeable into upon arrival.

wordassociationfootball · 31/03/2017 18:12

Hatty, have you had a whole glass Wink

Rose that is lovely news about the play.

motherinferior · 31/03/2017 18:18

Rose.Flowers

I have retired to bed. Brewing up repulsive cold and cough - please not for tomorrow's concert solo. Je ne suis pas bien PengeSad

hattymattie · 31/03/2017 19:01

Smilehic WAF. I think it went straight to my head as I'd only had two pieces of toast all day and then glugged down two glasses in quick succession. Have now absorbed it with pizza.

MI get well for tomorrow.

Herbs - fish and chips dinner sounds just the ticket.

MrsWobble3 · 31/03/2017 19:09

Back home after long drive to collect dd2 from uni. V tired (blaming the drive rather than last night's dinner/drinking) and v glad to be home. And basking in the joys of sibling reunion now all are safely gathered in and which I am confidently expecting to last at least half an hour. At that point we are ordering a Chinese takeaway so there's bound to be dispute.

Stropperella · 31/03/2017 19:17

Am glad to see Addle's superb coinage in a new thread title. Thank you kindly, MrsS. Sorry you have had such a grim week with your dm. Hope she will listen to reason this time.
Herbs, careful now, don't wear yourself out! Sorry to hear dp is so sad, but it would more worrying if he wasn't. Hope he can take some time to re-group at Easter and think of what might help him best.

Grin @ Squiffyhattie

I have been sweating away on academic work all week, made extra slow and laborious by my deep lack of self-belief. Therefore it was very cheering to have plenty of good news today and I am now toasting it all with beer. 1) dd produced a barnstorming epic of a personal statement last week in 2 days with no help. This was an atypical PS involving excoriating honesty. And has secured her an interview and admission test for the course to which she wants to transfer. Interview is on Monday! That got her out of bed.

And I've got a "strong pass at Master's level" for my first assignment. Which I was convinced I'd failed. Hope this means I'll be able to work a bit faster on what I'm working on now.

motherinferior · 31/03/2017 19:34

Waytogo, Stropps!

hattymattie · 31/03/2017 19:39

Fantastic news on Masters Stropps and also very well done to mini Stropps, so hope it works out for her.

Mrs W - mine lasted all of an hour without squabbling.

DH is now sulking as has been outvoted by the rest of the family on this evening's telly. Masterchef wins the day.

NUFC69 · 31/03/2017 19:42

That's all brilliant, Stropps. And I am so pleased for DD. Herbs, sorry you aren't well, but enjoy the fish and chips. MI, have you been cooking the cold for some time, or is that my imagination?

Lalsy, have now googled and am in awe that you even suggested it to DH! Re the cycling, I heard about the group DH is in and suggested he joined. It took him about six weeks before he would go along to where they meet for coffee prior to cycling. If you think your DH would be interested get in touch with the local CTC, I am sure they will have plenty of suggestions. DH's club range from a millionaire to men who have been manual workers all their lives, and all,of hem who I have met have been great.

Hatty, tut, tut! Grin

IDismyname · 31/03/2017 19:46

Sick thread MrsS Grin

Its been a quiet few days in the Cloud house - thank goodness...

Only news is I have interview for Interior Design course on 10th April. Will need Crepe-tastic vibes from you all when the time comes.

Congrats to Rose and Stropps WooHoo!

Cremolafoam · 31/03/2017 20:19

Stropps that's fantastic. I honestly do not know why you doubt yourself , as you are incredible. That's good about dd too. Haha re That woke her up. Grin
Rose , what wonderful news regarding the play. How heartening for you after recent to-do with Conscript. Yeh ! Go you.
Herbs , that's quite a day. I feel quite tired reading all the to and fro. I hope the chippers were good and have had no effect on your tum. Is the wheat thing do you think ?
MI, sorry your throat is sore. I have stinky cold and sore throat too-probably the same thing. Annoying.
Hatty, you big lush. Hope there were a few prawn crackers to soak up the Wine
Quiet night in here, with a baked potato and some Eurocrime in the shape of the Team. It's utter tosh, but enjoyable utter tosh iykwim.

CointreauVersial · 31/03/2017 22:05

Been rubbish at staying in touch, crepeys. Must Try Harder.

To be honest, I've been feeling a bit out of sorts the last couple of weeks; also feeling I perhaps didn't have much to contribute to the thread, seeing as I have a job I enjoy/easy teens/marital harmony/enough money/healthy parents.....well, you can guess the punchline.....DSM ended up in hospital last week with pneumonia, and her X-ray revealed "shadows", and they are now talking about possible lung cancer; she has a CT scan tomorrow. I'm worried. Meanwhile, DS has come home with a dreadful school report, and is falling behind on A levels - predicted 3Es right now, and I'm struggling to contain DH's rage and direct it into something more positive/supportive.

Job still fine, so not all bad. Hmm And I had a lovely Mother's Day.

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/03/2017 22:30

Surely this thread should be described as "bare penge"? Grin

My mother is in hospital at least until next week. They are moving her to another ward on Monday. We will visit on Sunday as I have a mad week next week. I am Elsewhere and will be completely out of contact for a day and a half, then have a day of interviewing... it just gets worse...

CV, my mother had an x ray that revealed shadows on her lungs but she took no notice of that, her usual trick of asking no questions and being told no lies. She is still on an IV antibiotic drip, and they are trying to sort out the fluid on her lungs. Me: "So what causes that then?" Her: "I don't know." Me: "Didn't you ask?" Her: "No." Me: "So what are they doing about it?" Her: "I don't know, I didn't ask."

Stropps, go you and DD!

Cremolafoam · 01/04/2017 07:18

Oh CV, I'm so sorry to hear that.Sad

bigTillyMint · 01/04/2017 08:12

CV, sorry to hear that about your DSM. I think not working in AS year is pretty normal certainly was here!

MrsS, thank god they are keeping her in.

Stropps, that's great news on all counts - go the Stropsters! Wine

Glad to hear all returning offspring are warmly cocooned in their families.

Lalsy · 01/04/2017 08:36

Stropps that is wonderful news - hurray for the stroppy women!

MI hope you feel better today. And herbs, hope you can get a quiet hour or two.

NU that is a brilliant idea thank you. i will investigate.

CV, oh no, hope dsm shadow proves innocent. Ds - did you have an inkling?

hattymattie · 01/04/2017 08:46

CV - so sorry to hear about DM. Let's hope they've caught it in time. Re bad school report - DS did this last term - he basically did nothing and came out underneath the class average (we have this in France) in many subjects. It has proved a wake up call and he is back near the top. Sometimes, they need to understand that they need to put the work in and hopefully with your DS he can turn things around in good time for his A's.

Going to gym now and then counterbalancing this with midday meal at the Chinese.

motherinferior · 01/04/2017 08:51

CV, how grim. I think the thing with older parents is how these things descend - if you remember I went from having two infuriating but pretty competent parents to dealing with third-stage cancer over a week. Everything crossed for you.

And please don't feel you can't post if you're enjoying life! I do know what you mean - I have really very easy and amenable teens too, even if the buggers whinge and strop sometimes.

I am going to lull and drug my throat into submission for tonight's performance. It can seize up totally tomorrow if it needs to.

Did I tell you lot I've picked up some fiction editing work?

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/04/2017 09:18

Sorry to hear about your DSM , CV, and I hope the prognosis is good (sorry, meant to say that last night, instead of being all wah, wah, wah, poor me. Blush).

Former neighbour going in to see my Mum today. She is now back on the geriatric ward that she hated.

magimedi · 01/04/2017 09:56

Sorry to hear your bad news, CV.

I also refrain from posting at times as my life is pretty humdrum & just jogs along nowadays, having been through the parents & teens angst. There is life on the other side!

bigTillyMint · 01/04/2017 10:01

MM that is what I am pinning my hopes onGrin

magimedi · 01/04/2017 10:06

Honestly, BTM, ten years ago I was just the same & would never have belived that life could be so lovely & boring!!

NUFC69 · 01/04/2017 10:09

Sorry to hear about DSM, CV. And about DS's school report. As MM said, there is life on the other side. I, too, have a pleasantly boring life most of the time (crossing everything as I write that). I do think that life goes in phases: and it can easily turn round and bite you on the bum, just when things are going well. Counting your blessings sounds trite, but I do think that you have to rejoice in the good things which happen, however small.

MI, good news about the new work. MrsS, good luck over the coming few days: at least if your mum is in hospital she isn't falling down at home.

bigTillyMint · 01/04/2017 10:24

Boring sounds fantastic to meGrin

Blackduck · 01/04/2017 10:36

So this morning the doorbell rings and the postie hands over John Lewis parcel..... I assume it's my (late) birthday pressie from a friend.... My lovely lovely Crepeys - I am sobbing....
