I have £35 in gift vouchers to spend so thought I'd peruse the new stuff

What is this monstrosity??

If I'm a flamboyant type looking for a flamenco style dress to dance the night away in - why oh why would I want it in Khaki??

I'm loving the trainers Giddy! I bought these beauts from Dune today - they've already been debuted! I can't stop smiling every time I look at my feet Smile

Dear God M&S seriously now?
GiddyGiddyGoat · 05/02/2017 18:47

Nice!

QueenoftheAndals · 05/02/2017 18:56

The only things worth buying from there atm are the Autograph opaques with the wide waistband that doesn't cut in, and the Sumptuously Soft bras, which more than live up to their name.

Last year I got a couple of basic v-neck sweaters in black and burgundy which are quite nice. Annoyingly they only came in those 2 shades, whereas the hideous froufrou cardies with excess ruffles came in a range of several colours. WHY M&S, WHY??

wtffgs · 05/02/2017 18:57

ThefirstMrsDV absolutely! Sainsbo seems to have been taken over by the same lunatics as M&S. None of it is nice and you'd struggle to look nice in it unless you are young, very slim but tall and breathtakingly beautiful (in which case you could wear a hessian sack). Are any of these clothes designed by people who actually like women? Hmm

Bluntness100 · 05/02/2017 19:01

we all say we'd pay more for good quality

RemusLupinsChristmasMovie · 05/02/2017 19:04

I also looked in a big Sainsbo's today. The clothes were hideous. I saw one scarf and one pair of PJs that I would contemplate wearing.

Floisme · 05/02/2017 19:38

Bluntness a number of posters have commented on both price and quality and it's a regular theme on practically any M&S thread. That's what I was responding to.

I have to say, I don't get the love for Sainsbury's. I used to buy it because it can look nice on the hangar but within half an hour of putting it on, most of it looked like crap. Same with Uniqlo - I know they're popular on here and some of it's ok but there's no consistency.

Floisme · 05/02/2017 19:39

And why the fuck have they turned into links? Sorry - not me!

Are any of these clothes designed by people who actually like women? No, I think they're designed by the people who dress the ugly sisters in panto.

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 05/02/2017 19:53

Jesus wept, that dress.
I am starting to think M&S and deliberately trashing themselves so they can have a massive buy out as a supermarket only.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 05/02/2017 19:54

Oh my Christ that off the shoulder top!!! It's like someone is going to a fancy dress as a fussy frump.

WheelchairDay · 05/02/2017 20:03

I quite like that dress actually Blush

ittooshallpass · 05/02/2017 20:05

Here's one that won't even go in the 50% sale. What are they thinking? www.marksandspencer.com/floral-print-long-sleeve-maxi-dress/p/p22508900?image=SD_01_T42_3328L_ZZ_X_EC_90&color=MULTI&prevPage=srp

RemusLupinsChristmasMovie · 05/02/2017 20:06

Agree re Uniqlo. Shapeless and not v good quality, ime.

Badcat666 · 05/02/2017 20:11

It's like terrible Etsy clothing is finding it's way onto the mainstream market. shudders

Laiste · 05/02/2017 20:17

OMG ittoo. THAT takes the ugly biscuit for me!

Unless i'm mistaken there's no pic of a model wearing it. Do you think they all refused? Grin

itchychin · 05/02/2017 20:18

Can I just add even their knickers are now pants 😉 (see what I did there!). I've bought their packs of short style undies for about 20 years probably. Last lot were much poorer quality material and despite still being a size 10 seem to have twice as much (thin) material!! Anyone else noticed this?

WheelchairDay · 05/02/2017 20:31

itchy I like very much what you did there Grin

Haffiana · 05/02/2017 20:39

I don't buy the packs of knickers any more. They are made of a cotton that has such a short fibre length that they go patchy and then see through after washing. And feel scratchy from the get go.

I live in fear that the 3 for 2 knickers will end up the same.

Lucked · 05/02/2017 20:51

ittoo hideous even their stylists couldn't work with that dress, they have teamed it with shoes and bag that just don't work. I am not surprised there isn't a model pic!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 05/02/2017 21:52

Good God! My eyes! Amish chic?

iwouldgoouttonight · 05/02/2017 22:05

Those last two links look like things ghosts would wear. They look just... sinister.

I think M&S are looking at their website statistics and thinking 'ooh these flouncy patterned nasties have had loads of hits, people clearly love them, we'll make more!'

Liiinoo · 05/02/2017 22:07

These are all I buy from M&S now. They are the nicest sandwiches in the world. When the family are away I buy a tray of these and a multipack of Pomme Bear crisps and don't have to cook for two days.
