I have £35 in gift vouchers to spend so thought I'd peruse the new stuff

What is this monstrosity??

If I'm a flamboyant type looking for a flamenco style dress to dance the night away in - why oh why would I want it in Khaki??

Chuckling at the ghost comment iwould

That last stripey ... thing ... looks like something a Victorian butcher woman would wear. If there were female butchers in Victorian times. And if there were that IS what they'd wear Grin

ppeatfruit · 06/02/2017 12:43

Oh dear here we again fgs. They are still following the high fashion thing. WHY?

Agree with a PP about the standard of their knickers . I bought some recently and strangely the NEW ones are falling to pieces while the older ones are still perfectly ok.
FurryLittleTwerp · 06/02/2017 13:40

That floral dress looks like a nightie with weirdly long sleeves.

The stripy thing is just like a Victorian lady butcher's outfit - agreed Laiste

It's "limited edition" - better hurry up if you're wanting one for fancy dress Grin

While we're on the subject of M&S undies, I've just pulled a feather out of my bra. An actual wee feather. No wonder i sneeze all the fucking time! I'm allergic to bird down and feathers. Did anybody else know that bras contain feathers? I want to say it's a padded bra but it's not - it's just a bra. Weird.

Dear God M&S seriously now?
ppeatfruit · 06/02/2017 14:40

Purple Where was the feather then, if it wasn't a padded bra? Weird [Hmm

NomDePlumeReloaded · 06/02/2017 14:45

THE MULtipack pants are shit. The elastic comes away after a handful of washes. Useless.

ppeatfruit · 06/02/2017 14:50

Yes but they didn't used to be NomDe . It's a shame that their proper basics are going down the chute. They'll be losing more customers than ever Sad I might try John Lewis for my next pants. I bought a nice coat on line with them last month , the service was perfect, so is the coat Grin

NomDePlumeReloaded · 06/02/2017 15:02

I found similar with JL multipacks, tbh. I think manufacturing standards in general are going down the Swanee. As PP said, I think costs are rising so we're seeing a major drop in quality. I buy Bonds pants now but they are a lot more ££ than the multipacks. At least they don't disintegrate on contact with the washing machine though. Small mercies.

ppeatfruit · 06/02/2017 15:33

'Bond pants' ? Where from ? Nom

PurpleNurple69 · 06/02/2017 15:33

Just in the cup material NomdePlume Maybe it is classed as a padded bra - just not in a Wonderbra sense. I'm not showing a photo of me in my feather lined skanky bra! Smile

ppeatfruit · 06/02/2017 15:34

They don't have pictures of pistols and James Bond on them do they? Grin Grin Joke !

NomDePlumeReloaded · 06/02/2017 16:35

They are an Aussie brand, from Figleaves. Selfridges sell them too. They are just cotton pants (like Calvin Klein) but i find they don't fray, shred or sag. Some of the patterns are a bit outlandish, mind.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 06/02/2017 16:37

Lol @ 007.

I quite like Sloggi too, some of theirs are nice. Some of the cuts are Shock though. The boy shorts are more like the apple catchers sold on the Sunday Market.

Gracie17 · 06/02/2017 18:32

Just seen this in my local area free mag...it's the dress from the OP

Gracie17 · 06/02/2017 18:40

Apparently ruffles can add drama ShockHmm

Spudlet · 06/02/2017 20:01

Stealth Flamenco Dancers are indeed extremely dramatic.

Olé! 💃

SilverHawk · 06/02/2017 20:01

This is truly vile. I really couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it in the shop.
They are all at it! Fuffles [https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Camel-Frill-Detail-Jumper-/131113443-Camel?searchTerm=:relevance:webcategory:Women%27s%20Jumpers%20and%20Cardigans&searchProduct=]

Badcat666 · 06/02/2017 20:30

Ruffles are in fashion again??! God dammit!

I lived through the 80's! I'm a ruffle survivor! Never would I have thought I'd see ruffles again in my lifetime sobs in a heap on sofa They were bad then and they will be bad now... Who can safe us??!!

Squills · 06/02/2017 20:55

The thing is, if you want a good quality basic for work why pay ££ for M&S viscose monstrosities

I've seen a couple of negative comments about viscose in this thread... can I ask why people don't like it? I've got some lovely viscose dresses, etc from Ghost and other places. I find viscose is soft and flowing and, like cotton, breathes as it's a natural fibre. What's not to like? Or have I. Used something?

Squills · 06/02/2017 20:56

Not used.... missed

MikeUniformMike · 06/02/2017 20:59

Bet the trousers won't have pockets. Even jackets seem to not have pockets. The only place you'll find pockets is on the chest of dresses or shirts. At least the olive dress has long sleeves.

ppeatfruit · 06/02/2017 21:26

Squills I agree about Viscose, it is probably the least unpleasant man made material with a 'natural' (not petroleum) base, like bamboo? I THINK I'm not sure ,mind. There'll be someone along who knows for sure.

crabb · 06/02/2017 21:27

I'm in Oz and have been buying the 3 for 2 knickers for a few years now, as they're so much cheaper than anything you can buy here, and I usually get free shipping. But the last lot has been disappointing - as a PP said the elastic starts coming away after not very long, the fabric seems rougher, and they lose shape faster Sad. I the up side, their Sculpt and Lift jeans are ace (for a size 20) - I'm on my third pair and very happy with them.

SilverHawk · 06/02/2017 21:55

Squills WRT Viscose there seem to be those that object to the huge processing of the fabric. Others seem to object to the marketing, ie it really is not a natural fibre.
I like viscose as a material to wear but I hate ironing it! I often mistake a viscose piece for cotton and have nearly ruined stuff. And while er're on it 50/50 mixes why?
Must be cheaper than cotton?

Haffiana · 06/02/2017 23:20

I love viscose, the feel of it, the weight and the way it hangs. I also like the fact it doesn't make me sweaty and smelly, as almost all man-made fibres do. In fact I would say I prefer it to cotton for certain items.
