Ugg Wilcox boots

Happy new year everyone!! As my Christmas present I have ordered a pair of these lovely boots but my friend who has them says they are a suede kind of leather. I really need them for muddy parks and dog walking so they need to be able to stand up to that. Does anyone have any and can tell me how robust they are?

@Cate, I ordered 7.5. I am normally a 7.

CateGory8 · 29/01/2017 21:12

The size 7 (Ugg size 7.5) are still available for £80 of Ugg.com/uk. Even though the sizes state 5,6,7 and 8 etc they are in fact 5.5, 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5.
You could save yourself £35 with free postage.

What the UGG site call size 8 are actually a dead-on 7.5. The label inside says they're a European 41, which is correct, and a UK 8.5 which is absolutely not correct.

Laquila · 29/01/2017 21:24

Persis I have the Simmens you refer to upthread in Stout - they are supremely comfy and I love them. I'm usually a 6.5/EUR40 and I bought them from Hurleys.com in a size 7 UK (their phrasing) - they fit well.

PersisFord · 29/01/2017 21:30

Oh laquila......they are so lovely too!

pidgey plus quidco discount.....

I actually like the look of the Simmons more than the Wilcox - lower heel and shorter boot with ? less baggy top, so good to hear they're comfy.

beast your DH....words fail me!

I want the Simmens ones so much. They look lovely. I just bought some Dune boots that I'm not sure I'll keep so if I send them back I can buy the Ugg ones instead (even though they are double the price but who's counting)

Talisin I feared as much. I am heartily sick of this ongoing conspiracy that a 41 is a UK 8.

BeastofCraggyIsland · 29/01/2017 23:48

I know, I threatened to shove a pair of Dunlops where the sun doesn't shine 😁 Going to check out the Simmens too, he can pay for them for his cheek Grin

Solo · 30/01/2017 00:16

Well I* find the UK 8 is slightly big on my size 8's.

ElspethFlashman · 30/01/2017 08:09

Yes I find the 8 is a half size too generous and I take a 41 in trainers. I suspect they are closer to a 42 despite the label.

But it's not a deal breaker cos of the snuggly sheepskin. I suspect I could have fitted the 7s though. Hard to know without knowing how much of a difference there is in the two sizes.

Strummerville · 30/01/2017 08:35

I wore mine out for a walk yesterday. 100% comfortable, no rubbing, no blisters...this is HUGE for me (awkward feet, EVERYTHING rubs at first!)

What a buy!

Mrs9C · 30/01/2017 08:59

I received my Cedrics and Lavelles today. I would not say their sizing is consistent. The Lavelle are spot on in a 7/40 for my 7/41 feet. The Cedric are too small, in the same size! I have a feeling that a whole size up would be too large, don't know whether the Cedrics would stretch as they are not a hard leather boot Hmm

Mrs9C · 30/01/2017 09:36

Ooh some Simmens fans. Is this the perfect excuse for an action shot? Wink As you can see they are a bit dirty because being used lots already and loving he fact that they are waterproof so can go in puddles with my toddler! (Usually a size 6 or 6.5and they are best for me in the 7.5 size)

Jeans are twisting in the Cedrics groan

leedy · 30/01/2017 14:28

Bah, think the Wilcoxes might be going back, they're lovely and foot fit is perfect but they're much looser in the ankle/leg than my Grandles, so a)my heel keeps lifting and b)they look baggy (and I have, er, sturdy legs).

leedy · 30/01/2017 15:58

Though, hrmm, maybe they would work with socks.

Was it the Orions that a PP said were a bit tight in the ankle? They might work for my weirdly flared feet....

Beketaten · 30/01/2017 16:00

I went to try on in the Piccadilly store on Friday night. I'm usually a 5.5/38 and tried both the 5.5 and 6.5. The former felt tight and the latter loose! In the end I bought the 5.5 as I think the woolly lining will compact down in time - I talked to the sales assistant about this, she was wearing them herself and confirmed this is what happens, so I hope it's right.

I tried both the stout and black and got stout in the end, they are a lot darker than how they appear on the website and I really like the antiqued brassware.

Mrs9C · 30/01/2017 16:50

Update: Decided to keep both the Cedric & the Lavelle boots, despite Cedric feeling too tight at first, they are perfect sockless, so I can tell by that the next size up would be just too lose. I'd advice anyone to order their own size and next up to check, as they have free returns. Everyone's advice on this was different, but if I'd have sized up they'd have been far too big.

Mrs9C · 30/01/2017 16:51

And yes they really ARE the comfiest boots in the world. I've been outside all afternoon with the sheer pleasure of wearing them. First in one pair of the boots, then switching to the other Grin Never thought I'd see myself loving Uggs before now!

PersisFord · 30/01/2017 18:46

Another happy ugg wearer!!

Mine arrived today. (Ordered Sunday) I'm normally a 6 but ordered a 7. They're slightly too big but not so bad with 2 pairs of socks on. I feel like a size down might be too tight. I have no idea what to do but I don't want to take them off!
