Ugg Wilcox boots

Happy new year everyone!! As my Christmas present I have ordered a pair of these lovely boots but my friend who has them says they are a suede kind of leather. I really need them for muddy parks and dog walking so they need to be able to stand up to that. Does anyone have any and can tell me how robust they are?

Well thank you for pointing me in the direction of the Ugg sale OP! The Wilcox aren't for me, I look like a golf club Grin in those kinda boots but I do like them!

I've ordered these though which I'm really pleased with! http://www.ugg.com/uk/jayne/1013680.html?dwvar10136800_color=BBLC#start=10&cgid=sale-women

I'm down £200 because of this thread!

Just waiting on delivery of those Jayne boots linked above, the original Wilcox ones and also a pair of converse style trainers for the Spring. Am hoping they will be more comfy than actual converse as Uggs are my go to footwear of choice. Have lived in them this winter as I always do.

PersisFord · 23/01/2017 17:33

I know, I'm obsessed!! Have just had to prise myself off the website....just went on to see the Jayne boots (gorgeous btw) and somehow ended up with a trolley full of lovely looking things....am having a cooling off period!!

Well I've done it, ordered a pair in black, hoping the size 6 fits and they don't gape around my legs as I really really love the look of them! Sent the link to a friend and she ordered a pair too so there's definitely a club growing Grin

Lemoncurd · 23/01/2017 22:02

PersisFord - it was on the Mumsnet Swears by email on Wednesday - that was what prompted me to order.

Solo · 24/01/2017 00:53

Me too Lemoncurd! They've been on there for quite some time now.

I've got both colours and the black is very black! Love both of them, but if I had to choose, it'd be the stout. One of my black ones has a glue bit sticking out at the bottom of the zip inside which feels sharp against bare ankles, but I've put a sock on and it's fine, but I'm going to make my mind up in the morning.

I ordered the 8 as listed online and they are a slightly big fit, but with socks they'll be perfect. There is a size explanation on the returns form and they assure that you get the size you order but it's translated from the American sizes. I also have very broad feet and the width is great too :) The top of the boot is a loose fit, so should fit bigger ankles/calves well. My only concern is when the wool lining flattens down...will they then feel loose and sloppy? Hope not!

VulvaInLaw · 24/01/2017 01:16

Am so close to purchasing the stout Wilcox boots but will definitely have to hide them from DH til next winter Grin

ElspethFlashman · 24/01/2017 08:02

Solo what size are you normally? I got the 8 & am a 41 so hope they're not too big.

guiltynetter · 24/01/2017 08:06

i wish i had found this thread before i ordered them! i got a 5 my normal size & they felt too small and tight. am waiting for an exchange of size 6 to be delivered, hopefully they'll be ok!

Solo · 24/01/2017 11:46

It depends on the shoe/boot tbh. I would say I'm an 8 and most of my shoes are 8's. I can wear 40 or 41 in Birkenstocks though prefer the 41.

Mrs9C · 24/01/2017 12:19

I ordered 2 pairs of my normal size...sort of hoping they'll be too small so I can get the money back again Grin

Mrs9C · 24/01/2017 12:20

Do they get looser as the fur lining wears down? i've found that with my shearling slippers.

ElspethFlashman · 24/01/2017 13:40

Oh shit, I'm a 40 in Birkenstocks. Confused

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 24/01/2017 17:44

I had lovely toasty toes on the station platform this morning Smile

peanutbutterandbanana · 24/01/2017 18:16

Just seen these on the swears by and they looks fab. I used to be a 7, now tend to buy a 7.5. Should I buy the 7 or the 8? Urgent replies please Grin

PersisFord · 24/01/2017 19:05

Hmm. I'm a v standard 7, and the 7 fit perfectly and I think will get looser. I will put an extra sheepskin insole in if they get too sloppy, that's what I've done with my normal uggs. Not helpful!

Black Wilcox have arrived, and I'm busy searching for reasons which will justify buying stout too. I can't think of any other than they're £72 and very warm, can anyone help?

onwego · 24/01/2017 20:09

Peanut, I'm a pretty standard 5 and the 5 fit but not with a thick pair of socks.

PersisFord · 24/01/2017 20:12

onwego I got cashback through quidco too....

Ive ordered the black ones too they look great
Only thing is I clicked on the trusted shops thingy have I inadvertently signed up for something I don't want???Angry

Solo · 24/01/2017 23:48

Me too Sounbe

Peanut I reckon the smaller size will work with thin socks until the lining compacts a bit, then thicker socks if necessary. I'm personally thinking no socks for a while.

I got TopCashBack!

polyhymnia · 25/01/2017 00:07

The gold buckles etc on the Stout version look very gold. Are they or are they quite subtle?

Solo · 25/01/2017 00:21

Erm, from memory (I'm in bed) they are not brassy at all...Actually, I think they are like an antique gold...

Solo · 25/01/2017 00:25

Yes I was right! They are a nice antique sort of gold; I knew they weren't blingy in your face kinda gold as they would have already been sent back! Grin
