Frizzy hair issues

What is the best thing to stop frizzy hair? Tried all the lotions & potions out there but they don't seem to stop the hairs on the top of my head going mad even & doing their own thing.
Also, best way to get heathy shiny hair on frizzy/wave hair?

Any chance Laureth-4 is allowed. I have had a quick Google can't find it specifically mentioned anywhere.

thethoughtfox · 14/01/2017 09:53

What is the FB page called? I could't find it. Got a curly haired dd.

CatsCantFlyFast · 14/01/2017 10:30

Also a quick google says no to fairy liquid. Gah. Unsure what to do now

AWafferthinmint · 14/01/2017 10:32

My hair dresser does a straightening treatment called L'Oréal xtenso. It lasts about 4 months and costs about £45, including cut. I have really frizzy hair naturally but now I don't even have to use straighteners, it's so sleek. I can wash my hair and leave it to dry naturally overnight and it looks fine in the morning, if I had done that pre treatment I would've woken up looking like Russel Brand. I just wish I'd had it done years ago. Might be worth seeing if there is a L'Oréal salon near you?

Ha margaritas!

I've just co-washed and diffuser dried (no gel or mousse as I don't have any yet) and my curls seem to be a bit chunkier. Much less of each individual hair strand trying to curl independently of its neighbours!

awaffer, I don't look good with straight hair though (long gaunt face Wink )

CatsCantFlyFast · 14/01/2017 11:40

I've fairy liquid washed, co washed, scrunched with a t shirt and put in curl creme and gel. Now leaving it to dry (which will take an age) and awaiting results though I can see frizz already

Curls!

Me too - fairy liquid wash the co wash, diffuser dry with no mousse etc. Not really a curl result but my hair feels lovely and soft.

I might try mousse tomorrow though I still can't find answers about the Laureth-4 . I suspect it's a no-no but I don't mind washing out with fairy again if so.

margaritasbythesea · 14/01/2017 14:17

Nice curls merkin

QueenoftheAndals · 14/01/2017 15:07

I wouldn't use Fairy liquid on my hair, even the cheapest shampoo from
Boots will be better than that!

SlipperyJack · 14/01/2017 17:14

Curls here too!

Any advice on combing post cowash before putting in a tshirt? I've read something that suggests it helps the curls clump but hadn't read it on here

margaritasbythesea · 14/01/2017 22:13

One tip I picked up ages ago is to use a muslin cloth instread of a T'shirt. I bought a pack of 3 100cm square ones from ebay from a baby supplier. You do have to hunt a bit for the big ones but they are cotton and easier to wrap than a t'shirt.

What puts me off experimenting with all of this is the amount of time you have to spend with wet hair. And then only to find out it might look crap (on me, not on posters on this thread who all look lovely). So, can only do it when not going to work for weeks on end.

QueenoftheAndals · 14/01/2017 23:40

Don't be afraid of using too much gel OP. It's meant to dry crunchy and form a cast around the curl. But once you scrunch the crunch out you'll be left with soft and defined curls.

It'd still be wet the next day woo. And with work the next day, can't take the risk with "unpredictable" hair.

SlipperyJack · 15/01/2017 09:47

The main problem I'm having is that my hair doesn't last the night (not that it did pre this new regime!) I'm a dreadful tosser and turner Grin and due to medical issues tend to get a sweaty head at night (lovely). But because it's short I can get away with washing again. It'll be more of a problem once it gets longer. Would a hairnet work, I wonder?

sammy891 · 15/01/2017 11:17

Thank you so much to the mumsnetter who first recommended the facebook group. I joined a few days ago and learnt so much reading all the info on there and watching videos on how to do the techniques. It is so handy having recommendations for UK based products as well. I've ditched my straightener and am starting on this journey Smile

BrondeBombshell · 15/01/2017 11:28

She's not that famous but Kate hUmble. She never tried to straighten her hair did she?

I just washed my hair with conditioner this morning. Letting it dry naturally now.. Probably using the wrong conditioner. I must get some gel. I sometimes run a bit more conditioner through it when it's drying to stop it going frizzy but if gel works then that would hold the curls so I must try that.

SlipperyJack · 15/01/2017 14:00

Samira Ahmed, Charlie Dimmock?

CatsCantFlyFast · 16/01/2017 09:34

Mind didn't last the night the first night. Last night it was still damp when I went to bed and I put it in a bun instead of just the pineapple ponytail. Curls much better this morning however I have a problem with the front looking horrific on a morning - shorter bits sticking up and out all over the place. Even despite this I also feel like I'm wearing a bad wig
