Frizzy hair issues

What is the best thing to stop frizzy hair? Tried all the lotions & potions out there but they don't seem to stop the hairs on the top of my head going mad even & doing their own thing.
Also, best way to get heathy shiny hair on frizzy/wave hair?

What about a small amount of coconut oil melted between your palms and smoothed /scrunched through?

How do we know if our hair is protein sensitive?

littlebillie · 11/01/2017 18:58

This is the best curl cream I have ever used and you don't need much it's very moisturising for curls and you can mix it with gel

I went from hair that looked like something that could have stuffed a sofa to a defined shiny curls

The only thing I'd say about the Curls Unleashed products is that they're on the heavy side, so if you've got fine hair they might not be for you. I've found the Umberto Gianini curl jelly to be nice and light yet defining.

TricksyLiesmith · 11/01/2017 21:45

Woowoowoo i tried gel the cheap Tesco blue one and it didn't feel good at all .
The cantu stuff is good but not as cheap as the others .

I'm currently sat plopping (again ) this time I tried the squish to condish approach . I've left some conditioner in a put the curl cream on top whilst really wet . I normally pin my roots but not sure how and when to do that now Hmm

Hello all - I've been following this thread with interest. I would like to enable my hair to curl nicely and thus far have used the Frizz Ease Dream Curls stuff, with moderate success. Today I tried to find silicon free conditioner at Tesco, to try co-washing, but ended up giving up! (Working on the basis that any ingredient ending "-one" is problematic - is that right?) What brands are good?

QueenoftheAndals · 12/01/2017 22:23

The Yes To conditioners are all silicone-free and CG-friendly.

QueenoftheAndals · 12/01/2017 22:24

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced gel that doesn't end up crunchy and wet look?

Sounds like you need to scrunch the crunch!

Thanks woowoowoo, I've been checking ingredients lists like billyo! Today I tried fairy liquid and Aussie Mega conditioner - not convinced that Aussie is OK but I had some to use up, so figured what the hell. Followed up with a tiny bit of coconut oil. My hair certainly feels nice but it's still quite fluffy!

SlipperyJack · 13/01/2017 20:53

See what I mean about fluffy?

My hair isn't consistently curly though - a mix of ringlets and S waves.

I think I need to pay a visit to Aldi, Wilko et al!

I only use shampoo every second wash and it helps a bit. I use conditioner to wash it.

That's what I figured woowoowoo - I can always just fairy liquid it if I get it wrong!

It's all very new to me anyway as until the last 6 months, I had really short hair (proper pixie crop) and had done so for a LONG time. The last time my hair was this length, I was 12 Shock And it wasn't curly!

margaritasbythesea · 14/01/2017 07:38

Slippery jack - we look almost identical! I couldn't believe it when I saw the preview photo.

CatsCantFlyFast · 14/01/2017 07:46

Right. I'm going to try this today. I have big curls at the back and straight bits at the front. Being able to leave my hair to dry naturally without drying/straightening would be a revelation

margaritasbythesea · 14/01/2017 08:08

I am going to try the fairy liquid and co wash today although I don't have the proper styling products. I don't have to go out today (except for emergency's styling products perhaps)

CatsCantFlyFast · 14/01/2017 09:43

I've been and done a boots run this morning.

So fairy liquid. Is it also worth me then washing with an approved shampoo (I got the yes to carrots one in case it was)

I've got a choice of yes to coconut or yes to carrots conditioner

And either boots curl creme or umberto giannini scrunching jelly

Any thoughts?
