Thread 1

Thread 2

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether thread 1and 2 are worth reading we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Xmas Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Xmas Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

If you want help, have read through the previous threads, but if you still have questions use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer up to two people a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

By the way, could someone remind me of good places online to buy French pharmacy? I can only recall cocooncentre.co.uk and it wants 11e for delivery AND it doesn't have LRP Toleriane Fluid Shock

SaltySeaBird · 02/01/2017 16:06

Hiya

@botemp I only just checked my email and saw you had tagged me. the Philip Kingsley Swimcap protective cream sounds ideal for me. How much would you like for it?

So after a few more days my skin is looking better I think and the initial signs of breakout that I thought was the Rosehip oil have vanished. I've been introducing a few products at a time and I think I'm ready to add the next thing into my routine. I've now got the following routine (well TO Retinoid is the only one still to introduce).

AM
LRP Toleriane Dermo Cleanser
The Ordinary Buffet
Clarins HydraQuench Lotion
Biore UV AQUA Rich Watery Essence

PM
Clinique Take the Day Off balm
LRP Toleriane Dermo Cleanser
Nip + Fab Glycolic Extreme pads (every other night)
The Ordinary Buffet
Advanced Retinoid 2%
100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

I added the Clarins HydraQuench Lotion into the AM as it was suggested I needed a moisturiser and I have some to use up.

Hapoy New Year everyone!

Blimey, this is the fastest moving thread ever! Have just caught up!

Here is my list:

Discovery of the year: double cleansing, Merumaya cleansing balm, Ultimelt cleansing cream, Hada Labo premium lotion

Would repurchase: TO Vitamin C, Hylamide Sub Q, Vichy aqualia serum

Planned purchases: LRP toleriane cleanser, Vitamin c (other than TO)

Won't repurchase: TO Ha+ B5, LRP Hydraphase, LRP Anthelios

Just OK: Nip + Fab pads

Still needed: facial oil

Happy to give away/trade: REN retinoid oil

If trading, looking for the following:

AuroraPolaris · 02/01/2017 17:03

Wilting try easypharmacie. They have very good prices and offers of double packages so if you order enough you can balance off the shipping costs (though I'm slightly annoyed at them as they've stopped shipping Caudelie over here Xmas Angry)

FizzyBubbly · 02/01/2017 17:43

Oh Aurora that is so annoying, I ordered 3 pairs of jeans from The Outnet a couple of days ago, could have really done with an extra 20% off! But being jeans I expect they'll all be going back

Wilting you've just reminded me that I've started using the Verso serum but left it off my list of new products below, (how could I forget? Blush) so far very pleased

feettothestars · 02/01/2017 17:49

Wow what a busy thread. I thought I knew a lot about skincare! I know nothing! I've been too blogger led methinks. Having a look st peoples lists, The Ordinary comes up lots. A quick google shows me it looks exciting and so cheap?! I have normal-dry skin and usually:

Double cleanse with oil/melty cleanser
Acid tone (currently using first aid pads)
Spritz
Serum
Oil (like Sarah Chapman but just ran out and too pricey to replace)
Moisturise.

The TO website doesn't give a lot away really. Any pointers to a first buy?

AuroraPolaris · 02/01/2017 17:55

Fizzy yeah that is annoying! And jeans shopping is just Xmas AngryXmas AngryXmas Angry
I was actually looking for a free intl shipping code as I don't feel like paying 25€ shipping in spite of the fact the bag I don't need but want am eying is discounted.

Bo went to dB today but came out empty handed Xmas Shock but did but a great woolen blazer at Zara.

More skincare I forgot yesterday to come later....

wiltingfast · 02/01/2017 17:56

Yes exciting and cheap says it all really Grin such a novelty not to be charged the blood of your first born for a serum! Mind you, the products are a bit opaque as to use etc. I researched all the vit c serums awhile ago and have totally forgotten which one I decided I was most interested in!

Thanks aurora I knew there was another. Smile

Awks · 02/01/2017 18:22

I found this regimen for TO online and am going to buy some of the products. At that price, happy to give it a go.

botemp · 02/01/2017 18:32

Meh, Aurora, part of the AB-lifestyle isn't it? Something new will come along soon enough and keep me entertained for a bit, I'm sure Xmas Grin.

I saw the code for the Outnet (and delivery is €15 with them you just always have to click it separately for the slower version) but my wishlists always evaporate there as things sell out and often Yoox which is the same bloody company will have the same item for cheaper and free shipping (they have 17% off today btw, automatically applied in shopping bag) been eyeing a pair of knee length Acne boots on there

Nothing at dB Shock. Actually, I'm not all that surprised, the things I like usually sell out quick in Amsterdam but The Hague has conservative tastes so the more fashion forward stuff is always up for grabs there. When I was there they still had 3 of those iconic leather jackets from Acne which usually sell out everywhere before ever even going on sale with 30 or 50% discount, in black - basically the colour everyone wants. Regretted not getting one later, have no interest in them for myself but I'm sure I could have sold it on and made a tidy profit.

wilting, you're in Ireland iirc? Otherwise Escentual usually do a 1/3 off all French pharmacy brands continually. They have the Toleriane for £10. Think feelunique and lookfantastic regularly discount it too.

Salty, no charge, just PM me your address and I'll send it to you. Wouldn't feel right asking money as it was a GWP and it would probably end up sitting around doing nothing here only to be binned at some point.

feettothestars, I've been meaning to do an idiot's guide to TO for a while now, reviewing each product and summarising our general likes and dislikes about it so I'll get cracking on that sometime but in the meantime it's difficult to rec where to start as all TO are targeted treatments for different skincare issues/goals so without knowing that we can't really rec a thing.

I'm not a big fan of that regimen guide, Awks, with the feedback from different users on here I find that some of those proposed regimes incorporate products that wouldn't be best suited to the suggested skin types and concerns at all.

I am murderous today Angry so probably won't be about for a while
Someone drove in the back of my car. Again
Then I came home to discover water through my ceiling from the upstairs apartment so I've eaten half a bar of chocolate in rage Blush

Pupsiecola · 02/01/2017 19:08

Aurora I was of the opinion that the Magnesium spray was helping me sleep but I've since disproved that. The Vit D under the tongue spray however is defo helping. Glad the pills are helping you x

Pupsiecola · 02/01/2017 19:17

Hollin, sorry to read about your car and your leak :-(

AuroraPolaris · 02/01/2017 19:22

hollin poor you!!!

pupsie I tried the gel that I'd acquired from my chirp for my shoulder but it didn't help. I also take Vit D but the acupuncturist told me to take it with a meal containing fat, as fat aids its absorption.

bo didn't really see anything exiting in dB - looked at Acne, Ganni etc... everything was either boring, unpractical or looked too much like something I've already seen a lot of.
Looked for a nice Kenzo jumper but wasn't moved by any and it's all cut so large now. Saw a nice one in the girl's department but they didn't have the biggest size anymore.
Very happy with my new blazer - military style with embroidered gold birds. Done very subtly in dark blue. Already have a black military style blazer from Zara from a few years ago and I've worn it a lot.
Still on the lookout for that cardi...
Will have a look at YOOX later and you are right I forgot they have the other shipping option. I'm thithering cause it's not something I really need...

AuroraPolaris · 02/01/2017 19:28

Chirp=chiro Xmas Grin

botemp · 02/01/2017 19:28

Hollin have all the chocolate you want! Flowers and some more Chocolate for good measure. And maybe buy yourself a Stila palette? Come on Stila, we're pushing as hard as our micro-influencer behinds can, give up the goods already, Hollin can have the first one as she had the shitiest day ever Grin

I've heard the same about Vit D and do take the gel capsules with some sort of fat (usually yoghurt) but have read about the benefits of the sprays too. Don't think there's a definitive answer on it tbh.

I'm off to Antwerp tomorrow, probably little in terms of skincare (though will pass by a pharmacy or two), here's hoping there's not too much I want Hmm

OP posts:
botemp · 02/01/2017 19:29

Grin I like the idea of going to a chirp better, Aurora. Sounds much more soothing...

feettothestars · 02/01/2017 20:04

Oo sorry about dripping ceiling Shock that happened to me when the flat above me had a burst pipe. Not fun.

Bo I have one main issue and that is fine lines under my eyes and starting to get little crows feet. I loved the hylamide for a while but seem to have got used to it? Generally my skin is clear and was a bit dry when I was a wipes cleansing person but loads better since I started looking after my skin.

wiltingfast · 02/01/2017 21:34

V restrained of you hollin. I'd definitely have eaten the whole bar plus a packet of crisps as well!

botemp · 02/01/2017 21:47

feet, the Ordinary doesn't have any offerings in the way of fine lines in the eye area (only a caffeine based depuffer and hydrator). You'll need a retinol product that's suitable for the eye area. If you have pretty tolerant skin the LRP Redermic R for eyes should probably suit you. It might be worth using TO Caffeine for the eyes during the daytime for a bit of hydration.

AuroraPolaris · 02/01/2017 21:59

Well bo Antwerp certainly has amazing chocolate!!! Though I'm sure that's not what you meant Xmas Grin

AuroraPolaris · 02/01/2017 22:06

Star2016 likes I forgot about yesterdayStar

Bebé Serozinc - the little 50ml. Used it last week. It's soooo cute and handy.

Old stuff I still use and will probably continue to-

Toleriane cleanser (my AM cleanser for a few years now).
Caudelie grape water
Alpha-H Liquid Gold smoothing and perfecting mask - glycolic mask, sadly has parabens, though it's so good I might repurchase.
Catier yellow clay mask.
Clinique over night mask - it's good but I have other stuff now
Klorane Mango hair UV
Bioderma Autobronzant - very easy to apply, subtle light shade

Body - Weleda rose oil, Nuxe oil

Kid (11) likes - Weleda almond cleanser and cream (for sensitive skin), Cosrx BHA, Serozinc

UntamedShrew · 02/01/2017 22:09

Sorry to hear you're having a shocker, Hollin. Agree, your stopping at half the bar showed huge restraint! Hope the leak is fixed soon.

No sales purchases here either - I've been eyeing up bags on the Outnet but can't see any I really love. Basically I want an anya hjndmarch maxi zip... only I don't because pretty much everyone where I live has one and I don't want to be such a sheep - and they are so much money, too. But it's a perfect bag, so I've wasted a whole evening looking at things that aren't as nice as it and eventually deciding to buy nothing. Oh well, more money for skincare! Grin

hollinhurst84 · 02/01/2017 22:11

My rage led to shopping Hmm I'm predictable as always. Done a small order from Tam beauty, just concealer, a blur primer and their dupe of the MAC nutcracker blush/highlight palette
BB cream on its way (thanks botemp) in green and purple Grin
4160 Tuesday's perfume (well they had a sale...)
I actually bought some Spanish baby cologne as it was £6 for 240ml or so and I adore it!
