Thread 1

Thread 2

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether thread 1and 2 are worth reading we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Xmas Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Xmas Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

If you want help, have read through the previous threads, but if you still have questions use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer up to two people a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Oh yes, the foot fetishists on eBay. Apparently, they pop up on used footwear listings asking for pictures and they're really into destroyed shoes or where the imprints of the toes are heavily visible or something, asking how pungent they smell, etc. . Anyhow, sticking with Vestiaire Collective even if it does take forever to sell on there lately.

Trouble posting as signal intermittently bad and is then hogged by DD1 when it's good!
Went to Sephora today...I have photos which I will post when signal better. I purchased...but managed not to go too wild....

WendlaBergmann · 30/12/2016 20:10

Hi all, got a bit distracted by a poorly toddler, pregnant sister and, well, Christmas. But wanted to say a massive thank you.

Whilst my rosacea is there the irritation and angriness has gone right down. I've added in the Clearulta factor 50, and added back in the Superdrug hydrating serum, so nothing major, but something's clicked!

My night cream - a fairly plain Bodyshop one has run out, and I wondered whether you reckoned to add something active in? Or just a really simple moisturiser? I'm guessing as I'm now using a separate spf I don't need day/ night creams.

Anyway, I'm off to catch up!

UntamedShrew · 30/12/2016 20:57

Thanks Bo!

Quick question for Cherry and anyone else using the P&M retinol superstar oil: is it a nourishing feel as an oil, or more of an active product? Am trying to see if I'd need a hydrating/nourishing oil on alternate nights (as I'm such a parched old husk lately)

Thank you again. My nufountain Vit C just arrived, looking forward to trying this and will report back...

EnidButton · 30/12/2016 21:05

Ooh I know someone who would love that Chantecaille palette. Considering getting it to stash away.

including a sweater that looks like a ballerina threw up on it I'm going to need a more detailed description of this bo. Does it have tutus attached to the shoulders or is it sparkly...?

botemp · 30/12/2016 21:21

Yes, Enid, me! I'll like that, a whole lot my birthday's in May Xmas Grin I like the look of this one from Chantecaille too, not usually colours I'd gravitate towards but suspect they'd actually look really good on me.

Not sparkly, it is pink and does have something resembling a tutu attached to it, it's one of those classic Cos things that has terrible hanger appeal but looks surprisingly good on. It sounds like a girly nightmare but really isn't. I'll see if I can find a pic on their site.

Wendla will have to look you up again but maybe one of the face theory moisturisers (provided you get the non-fragranced versions). I'm not wholly convinced by the addition of their actives but they make for simple formulations in good dispensers. Otherwise, there's always the old standby LRP Toleriane Fluid, basic but functional.

I'm still on my skin care L plates, but whoever asked about Sls free shampoo not leaving their hair feeling clean, are you using a conditioner with silicones in? Silicones need a surfactant like SLS to get rid of them, hence if you're not using SLS your hair won't feel clean. I do curly girl so am SLS and silicone free

WendlaBergmann · 30/12/2016 21:26

That was for ChocolateRaisin

hollinhurst84 · 30/12/2016 21:27

Ooh that palette is very pretty! I really like the becca highlighter I got for Christmas
Run out of my BB cream so went to eBay to order and I can't find it in stock anywhere Angry
It's still on the website so hoping it's not discon but it's a Korean one and can't find anywhere that ships. Have ordered it in green instead of purple in the hope it's similar

AuroraPolaris · 30/12/2016 21:27

That is quite the bounty bo, well done! Xmas Wink
No the clutch I'm eyeing is not that one it's a leopard print one. Is the silver skirt you mentioned the one with the elastic waistband? Those look great, though you would always have to tuck your top in. I actually love metallic stuff and feel you can always dress is down with a plain black jumper and in summer with a white t-shirt and flat sandals or trainers. I also find that a bit of sparkle (in a chique and understated way, obvs) can really lighten up a gray day!
Am also planing to see what is on offer in Zara. Have an amazing pair of suede coulottes from the sale last winter!

OK, as promised some more info about my experience with cryotherapy.

What I've been doing is whole body cryo, i.e. in a kind of sauna. I've been doing it on the rec of my chiro, as I've been suffering from intense pain from my right shoulder down to my hand, and was even waking up at night front the pain.
You go in wearing a bikini or shorts and sports bra, a mask on mouth and nose, socks and wooly booties, ear protector band and gloves (I now bring my own ski gloves).
The first few times are pretty scary, and yes, you get extremely cold in a way you have never experienced before. You first go into an ante-chamber that is only -60 and after 20 seconds go into the second chamber that is -110, where you stay 2 min and 40 seconds, though you can obviously come out at any time. The first minute or so you are totally shocked so that goes by relatively quickly but the last minute or 30 seconds are pretty though. The first couple of times you are absolutely frozen when you come out and it takes quite a while to get warm again, even though you've got your robe right there, and you have the option of jumping on a small trampoline to get the blood flowing. After four times or so it stopped being so scary and some days it didn't even feel so extreme anymore, though today I was again quite cold.
I felt an immediate improvement in the pain, and though it's not completely gone I seems as it has been getting better by the day. I've done it nine times and it seems that after ten times or so you start feeling a real diference and after a month you can feel long term improvement, and supposedly hit a plateau that you can then maintain by going a few times a month.
Must say that now that I am used to it the feeling when you come out is quite amazing and even addictive - you feel an enormous rush of blood and energy. The first time you get a real buzz which lasts throughout the day, but since I'm doing it every day I don't really feel that all the time.

They are now also getting a small localized machine that can be used locally on problem areas (including for skin problems and wrinkles) so I'm curious about that as well...

AuroraPolaris · 30/12/2016 21:35

Yeah I've also been tempted by jumpers with frilly bits. I've seen some very nice ones.

botemp · 30/12/2016 21:57

I see exactly what you mean now bo! But I like it. Lovely colour too.

hollinhurst84 · 30/12/2016 22:03

I did see that palette on Instagram somewhere and thought it looked v pretty Grin the highlighter I got is moonstone which is a sort of pale cool gold
If anyone sees Liole dollish veil vita BB cream in purple on their browsing please send it this way!

JDSTER · 30/12/2016 22:10

Bo yes I'd like the PC thanks. I'm away at the moment and only on my phone and cannot decipher how to send a PM!

AuroraPolaris · 30/12/2016 22:11

I think I have a similar metallic turquoise knee length skirt indeed from Zara from about three years ago. Love it!

In gorgeous purple? Here you go:

www.bbcreamshop.eu/en/product/114501/lioele-dollish-veil-vita-blemish-balm-1-gorgeous-purple

It's a Dutch shop but they deliver in Europe for not crazy rates, don't know how it compares price-wise, probably inflated compared to the Koreans.

botemp · 30/12/2016 22:17

Well if Aurora is kind enough to offer another CosRx decant no pressure you've got them all to test, JDSTER Halo

Just get to the PMing when you get back, all the letter boxes will be sealed up here now anyway for New Year's and the fireworks vandals.

Ooh, that looks lovely, Aurora. They have something similar in that colour too, but slightly more bronzey leaning into black (looks better than it sounds) but it's more of an a-line with buttons down the middle and I prefer the straighter minimalist silhouettes in such a shiny material.

AuroraPolaris · 30/12/2016 22:18

The cryo is pretty scary just before you go in the first two times. When you are inside it's not really scary or stressful it's more that towards the end some parts of you get very cold (I gather that every person experiences it slightly different). But... when you get out after the cold subsides and you are warm again you feel very very very relaxed and all your muscles are super soft and supple.
So I don't know if I would call that stressful seeing that you can always get out and there is a window through which they are constantly communicating with you and telling you how much longer you have (every 30 sec). But it's obvs a personal thing and depends on personality and what other crazy stuff you have experienced.

botemp · 30/12/2016 22:21

Thanks for your reply Bo, first class response as always! Unfortunately I can't persuade DH to become a fully fledged MN member so I have to continue as his go between...

Skeen looks very interesting, something you've tried before? Is it stable as a powder?

Skeen also has an Anti Wrinkle Fluid for Eyes which contains rentinol, have you seen this before? This caught his eye and ordering this too would mean free shipping

Last question, I've looked at the website but it doesn't state specifically; can TO vitamin C be used round the eyes like Skeen? I've always avoided it myself as I myself like TO and it would save 30 odd €'s

(Unsuccessful) sale shopping got in the way of catching up on this thread so will try again tomorrow

hollinhurst84 · 30/12/2016 22:22

Oooooh thank you!!! Honestly the coverage it gives is insane. It comes out purple and goes on like a second skin layer of perfect skin. I even prefer it to my Chanel foundation Blush

I saw that one when I was searching! I really really hope they're not getting rid of it, it's my precious. Got a sample of it with another order about a year ago, a tiny packet. Opened it, dabbed it on and went WTF? squinted in mirror bemused that a) it was pale enough as I'm about NW10/13 and that b) this tiny packet had covered everything with no concealer
Went on eBay and bought full size Grin

Pupsiecola · 30/12/2016 22:37

OMG. Back home after a 15 hour journey Xmas Shock, including:-

Alarm at 5.30am
3 hours on a coach down the mountain to Geneva
1 hour delay in the terminal (due to fog in the UK so plane was late arriving)
1 hour 40 minute delay on the plane before take off (due to Southampton airport being closed)
1 hour circling over Southampton (obvi took off before the airport opened, in case fog cleared whilst en route)
Diversion to Exeter
Half hour wait for coach
3 hour coach journey to Southampton airport
10 minute taxi ride home

Knackered (and strangely looking forward to my bedtime skincare routine and using my actives which I left at home! Gonna have to get some pink Darphin in there somewhere).
