Still no BT blush Xmas Angry
Should I worry????

botemp · 15/12/2016 18:21

Pupsie, do you still have pores/blackheads/oil issues though? I'm wondering how relevant it still is in your routine. Actives continually require you to recalibrate your routine (hence why understanding what you're using is so crucial) and if you don't it's usually the skin that rebels first. Just out of curiosity how much oil were you using? 2-3 drops is the usual dose. Also are you emulsifying or HCC the DHC?

With &other stories I only ever look, Aurora, I don't even plague myself with trying on their shoes. Once bought a pair of Cos boots and my feet were in such agony after a day's wear that I immediately sold them on. I've been back on the overpriced footwear ever since. I did however eye those green ones too because I really like the idea of green boots. I usually can't fit insoles in without the arch getting in the way to those not have that issue?

Yes, we are pretty early with our SPF woes this year but then there are some ski holidays coming up, not that the Japanese SPF are that great for those or will arrive in time. Admittedly I was a bit late on getting a winter SPF this year but I've just been finishing up the one I have and I probably like it a bit too much.

botemp · 15/12/2016 18:23

I think you can log into your account on Skincity to track your order, they're definitely slower than normal. Everything By Terry 25% off with them today btw, am tempted to get some bits and bobs that I don't need.

EnidButton · 15/12/2016 19:07

My skin is very sensitive today. Forgot that I'm due on in a couple of days and used an eyebrow razor to defluff my jaw. Blush It burns! Normally ok.

Why does my skin get extra sensitive and reactive just before a period?

EnidButton · 15/12/2016 19:07

And I'm blotchy. Gorgeous!

Indecisivejo · 15/12/2016 19:18

bo yes your probably right but I can't help it. Also because I'm trained in beauty therapy I have a genuine interest in skin and skincare products.

enid my skin is exactly the same and my periods have long cycles (I can be anything from 28 days although that's very rare, to 40 odd days) but I still get the hormonal symptoms of pains, skin sensitivity etc from about day 14-16 grrrrrr!!! I find that's it's about this time I start getting all stressed about my products too and get tempted to try new things.

EnidButton · 15/12/2016 19:29

jo Same! Trying not to do that anymore now. I'm irritable generally at this time of month which doesn't help.

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 15/12/2016 19:39

Shit! Massive pile of various Korean sheet masks in TK Maxx, I need talking down!

EnidButton · 15/12/2016 19:46

Ooooh...

botemp · 15/12/2016 19:54

Check the ingredients Scooby, the majority contain way too much alcohol and fragrance. Also, anything over a pound is too much for your average unknown sheet mask.

EnidButton · 15/12/2016 20:05

Boooo.

AuroraPolaris · 15/12/2016 20:49

Yes, that's why I too have to stick to expensive shoes. On the plus side those kind of shoes look good for years and years. Going to a party tomorrow and have to decide whether to go for heels (beautiful though not too high) or flats (comfy but won't be able to then wear the dress I want to). First world dilemmas....

If you look well in the photo you'll see the insoles come with 5 inserts. You are supposed to start with the lowest one and every month or two switch it so your muscles keep working until you stick to the last one. That last one is pretty high - I've actually never used it as I find it tires me, but maybe it's something for you? You could always mail them and ask. The Pilates teacher who told me about it is an international teacher who sometimes comes and gives workshops and TT courses here and she has been using them for years.

MintyChops · 15/12/2016 20:57

Bo my skin is normal/ dry, flushes easily, dryness mainly round nose, cheeks and forehead can feel tight, sensitive, get spots on chin and in crease of nose too (where annoyingly it is driest). I got the LRP Toleriane cream today, the fluid felt too light so I'll report back on it. Thinking the Shisedo SPF might be a good one for me.

Thank you for all lovely comments about Jeeves, he is an Irish terrier and it was and remains, love at first sight. Even with all the standing round in the rain!

Dulcimena · 15/12/2016 20:59

Enid same! I have the happiest skin for the first half of my cycle, then it goes a bit nuts for a day or two around ovulation, then the slow and steady decline when it gets overly sensitive, reactive and inflamed. And then it starts all over again... I was actually thinking this morning that I should think about having two routines to accommodate the different needs - I've cut out all actives since last night to try and calm it down. It never used to be this complicated Xmas Sad

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 15/12/2016 21:10

Boooo!

I did pick up a Mizon one which didn't look like it had anything too terrible in it. They were all £1.99 from what I could see. Fortunately the queue was massive, and I didn't find what I was originally looking for, so I put it back Smile

botemp · 15/12/2016 21:16

It's not really an issue beyond not being able to wear cheaper footwear but being raised by a mother who was obsessed with quality footwear I don't find it all that alluring to go cheaper. Like you say, a good pair of shoes last for years, only problem I've been having since turning 30 is that my feet have shrunk, no one told me about this Shock! I'm down 1.5 sizes now and it's looking like 2 now, I thought I had at least another few decades before I actually started shrinking...

Hormones definitely come into play with sensitivities, I notice it too. I can sort of analyse when I'm due by the sensitivity of my skin which is actually quite handy with PCOS as it's a complete mystery most of the time. Also start craving sugar then which I've lost all appetite for altogether otherwise. It has to do with the male/female hormones balance but can't remember the technical aspects of it anymore.

It's not so much about having two routines really, Enid, but more than you sort of make a selection of products each routine to suit your needs. It's second nature to me now but you sort of get there intuitively if you need something more soothing, maybe add in a calming mask, etc. or could a bit of a punch to perk the skin up by evaluating the skin after each cleansing.

Minty, if you don't mind waiting I'll report back how the Shiseido performs as soon as it arrives (I'm guessing it'll be after Christmas) but in theory, yes it could be a good candidate for you.

AuroraPolaris · 15/12/2016 21:33

How funny your feet are shrinking Xmas Grin
Pity about the shoes... my grandmother too had very high arches... funny how I still remember that about her. She also had the most beautiful legs.

I agree with bo - once you have a stable routine and are more confident about the products you can simply look in the mirror and ask yourself "hmmm what does my skin need today???"

(I have a black My Scheming Black Pearl mask on tonight - just scared DH Xmas Wink)

botemp · 15/12/2016 21:38

Brills, reminds me of Net-A-Porter beauty video that popped up in my feed that caused a light bulb moment. They suggest leaving it on for so many minutes then flipping it over to get the other side Shock. Why have I not thought of this before? though very short and pretty much recaps the above.

Poor DH, the things others must suffer for our beauty Xmas Grin

botemp · 15/12/2016 21:43

I just realised we're nearly full up again, whomever continues the thread can you include the form in the OP so it's easier to refer to although this might end up flooding us with request which I won't be able to handle Sad

And we need a title! Poor attempt #1: Even More Fantastical Skincare and Where to Find It In Japan, France, South Korea, Sweden, and probably more places I can't remember right now

AuroraPolaris · 15/12/2016 21:59

Don't forget musings about cream blushes boots and hooded cardigans

AuroraPolaris · 15/12/2016 22:00

I think pupsie should do it she's the secretary general Xmas Grin

Pupsiecola · 15/12/2016 22:01

Good point re adjusting the routine Bo. I think I do have SF issues on my nose especially but it's hard to know for sure because I have to use a strong magnifying mirror to put make up on, pluck eyebrows etc. Not so much oily though. I probably use 5 drops on face/neck/decolletage.

OP posts:
botemp · 15/12/2016 22:10

And shoes, and the many things Bo doesn't need but wants, and bespoke balms, and obscure haircare

Well use the BHA only on the nose then Pupsie, unless you're already doing this. It's why I usually rec getting the travel sizes as you're unlikely to use much if it's just targeting the nose or t-zone and in all likelihood you'll use less of it over the long term than more.

wiltingfast · 15/12/2016 22:21

Wow this thread flies along! Do you want anyone else to try some of that ss Bo? Don't have rosacea but my cheeks are precious snowflakes Grin

My biore watery essence never turned up alas so am still without non make up ss. I'd be interested in the sheisdo or the mermaid one looked good also.

botemp · 15/12/2016 22:29

The Mermaid one is nice too but it's actually from a makeup brand (supposedly their blushes are fab too, I'd be tempted if not for the horribly kitschy princess packaging) so it's very much like a makeup primer with a high silicone content but for a non-alcoholic one it performs really well and sinks in quickly. I'll be happy to decant some of the Shiseido as soon as it comes in to interested parties to save everyone from buying everything all the time.

There was a question a day or two ago, can't remember (maybe it was you wilting or someone else) who got a bit bored of the LRP Dermo Cleanser and Clinique TTDO and was looking for alternatives but I never heard back (or read over it) what they wanted from a cleanser instead. Figured I'd address it before the thread runs out Grin
