Yes yongian in gray, but for me not too long please Wink

No the Anessa only has dimethicone but not too much. That's why I went for it

FizzyBubbly · 14/12/2016 22:32

Argh you lot are making me want to go shoe shopping!

What a gorgeous puppy Minty, hope you don't have to stay outside in the cold too long.

Bo I skim read last nights posts before I went to bed, making a mental note to raise my hand for rosacea party Japanese spf info, but must have forgotten by the morning. Will raise my hand now!

WRT my PC BHA mix up, I have just tonight run out of my Bravura 2%, and was using it to help combat breakouts (usually jawline) and for my huge pores and acne marks. Skin type is very very slight rosacea, would prob say combo with oily T zone. I'm guessing I should have gone with the liquid it's just that the lotion description mentioned rosacea. Should have asked here first.

Oh and I think detailed poster notes and files would be a great first step in the founding of BBB (no pressure!) Grin

Dulcimena · 14/12/2016 22:36

Ah maybe I was using an earlier formulation then, or maybe it was the alcohol that was the problem. It was a few years ago. I think I switched to anessa when I couldn't get hold of sofina lucent. Maybe I should try it again, as you say if its just dimethicone it might be ok.

Love the Mommy one, does it actually dry eventually? Maybe good for no mu days?

EnidButton · 14/12/2016 22:45

Pupsie Hang on, does PM neighbour mean prime minister?

botemp · 14/12/2016 22:49

Try Sachajuan Dark Volume Powder (or the normal if fair haired) in store somewhere, it's the ultimate next day hair creator with texture and piecey-ness and sort of works as a dry shampoo too. Though may not be what you're looking for at all, Dulci... Have you ever tried the CR Santal one? I'm quite liking rice bran oil for my hair at the moment and have been meaning for the longest time to get the Japanese golden standard, Tsubaki oil.

Vince do really nice hooded cashmere cardies, but probably don't meet the budget. Sometimes Cos have really nice pieces in their pyjama/loungewear section too where everyone forgets to look. They should be having a sale soon I reckon, saw them doing inventory after hours.

Yes the Mommy dries up but not matte, has a nice sheen to it but is not overly shiny. Think it was about 20-30 mins but if I didn't use moisturiser it was quicker.

botemp · 14/12/2016 22:50

Well I certainly hope Pupsie's (ex)Project Manager isn't the Prime Minister, thought it would certainly explain why there were so many delays in getting that extension done...

Dulcimena · 14/12/2016 22:56

Never tried or even heard of those Bo! Will look them up now - ty for the suggestions. I quite fancy the mommy ss just for the packaging tbh Blush

Pupsiecola · 14/12/2016 22:57

Yep. Project Manager is neighbour. Three doors down. We are both at bowl end of cul de sac. We've lived here two years and he was recommended. He has one other work for us (no real issues but simpler jobs). He, in theory, is very familiar with our type of house hence we went with him. I actually want to move.

Thanks for that info Bo. Do you think the Shisheido would suit me more than the Watery Biore given I'm on the dry side of normal?

OP posts:
botemp · 14/12/2016 23:08

The little bear's adorable, and I really liked the pump. It gave a good amount in one go to cover the face (or half a limb thereabouts). They also do a smaller version but it's harder to source but that's ideal for top ups to keep in your bag. It's also a larger size than most (100g vs 50 or 60).

Yes, think the Shiseido is a better suit than Biore Watery essence, the reason that isn't on my list for the Rosaceae party is due to very high alcohol content and fragrance, combo/oily skin without too many irritations will like that a lot but not one I recommend to everyone because of those factors.

Just a general FYI wrt Japanese sunscreens, either buy them from Japanese sellers on Amazon or Japanese sellers with high ratings on ebay (the UK site doesn't seem to get a separate distinction for them like we do strangely enough). Don't buy from China, too many selling fakes. Taiwan and Hong Kong are sometimes ok but I'd rather pay the bit extra from Japan.

yongnian · 14/12/2016 23:26

pupsie you have my utmost sympathy, I have been living in a 2.5 year nightmare neighbour-harassment scenario and have been trying to sell the house as a consequence for the past 2 years....Sad It's a whole other thread...
All other recommendations sunscreen, cardigan or otherwise noted.

yongnian · 14/12/2016 23:28

dulci that's another holy grail search hair-styling wise right there, just as you described it....Grin. Keep me posted!

EnidButton · 15/12/2016 03:04

Grin I'm such a tit. Project manager makes so much more sense.

Indecisivejo · 15/12/2016 06:56

bo pics were pretty close up I'd say but when I've seen others that close in pics their skin looks fine :(
I'm ok with dimethicone I think, it's the cyclo one or if something has silicone as first ingredient like most primers that's when they become a problem. I'll check out the cerave pm cream thanks (any reason why the pm one?) can I continue with my active moist in the am?

enid I don't mind you saying that at all but thank you for being thoughtful and considerate. Erm yes I do think my dismorphia plays a big part in this because mine is focused on skin more than anything and I often look at my skin and analyse everything and then I start getting stressed and upset about what I'm seeing which actually flares my skin up more, I start goin more red and feeling more irritated the more I look and see what maybe isn't there...or is it?! Others tell me my skin is fine but to me it's not and when I look at other people their skin always looks great and I think to myself why isn't the cold weather or central heating making them look worse why just me?! I hate being like this :(

Indecisivejo · 15/12/2016 07:03

Reading reviews on the cerave pm I'm a little concerned as lots of people are saying that it's been reformulated and has been causing lots of reactions.
I'm still wondering whether to get the TO niacinamide and use it with my subq once a day or once every other? Is it ok to use active moist over top of this??

Pupsiecola · 15/12/2016 08:47

Thanks for the buying tips Bo. Before I order, I just want to check that this is the right one:-

Shiseido

OP posts:
yongnian · 15/12/2016 08:52

Well done pupsie that's the one I was going to go for but it's more expensive on eBay :-)

AuroraPolaris · 15/12/2016 08:53

Just some extra SPF info - I went for the more expensive Anessa because I wanted to find something that could also act as moisturizer in the AM (as it is I have a 6-7 step routine in the AM Xmas Blush) which it certainly does. It's also fine under CC cream.

We are super lucky to have absolutely lovely neighbors all around us. DH keeps saying he wants to move in a couple of years when kids are slightly older and that is honestly one of the reasons I'm reluctant. It's so important! We've had horrible neighbors in the past so I know what it's like....

Hope all the lovely ladies who have miscarried this week are doing ok Flowers

botemp · 15/12/2016 09:54

Yes, pretty much the same reason for buying the Kose at the time, but also since that is a sweat proof one (so more suited to the summer) with lowish alcohol and fragrance in very small amounts. We had long and lengthy discussions on SPF on the AB thread about it IIRC or I did with myself anyhow.

I've never actually sampled any of the cheaper Japanese offerings, have ordered the Shiseido Q10 version (as I will call it from now on as that's the most identifiable thing on the package and it has 2 different English names) from Amazon yesterday to see how it compares, strangely enough even cheaper on the German version. Surely my champagne tastes will prefer the Kose but I'm keeping an open mind and it should be a good contender when not the summer.

Speaking of Amazon, the jp version has recently added an extra function displaying those sellers that deliver worldwide which has opened up the market substantially (in contrast to S. Korea, the Japanese beauty export online market has always been closed off and comes with quite the price increase). I have yet to have a proper explore yet but the prices on there are very good.

Jo, in the nicest way possible, you're not the most objective person when it comes to your own skin and that's true even without the dysmorphia. Comparing it to others is never a fair strategy and I'm pretty sure you know this but it just doesn't feel like that. The only ones really qualified in that area are a dermatologist and/or mental health professional I am left wondering why you aren't under treatment as that seems like the best place for someone with the issues as you've described them.

In all honesty I don't think adding anything to your routine is wise if the likelihood is higher to cause reaction than not. I am also wondering as a complete non mental health professional how conducive it is to constantly concern yourself with it like with these threads, is it not making the obsession worse?

Think I actually some flat lowish (I wouldn't call them heels but some might) Chelsea boots at &Other Stories, Aurora. Though I personally find their footwear very uncomfortable (have high arches and like everything else about me the feet are very picky).

Dulci, dug up the review on the Mommy UV pertains to the SPF30 (now 33) but it's changed very little in formulation.

Pupsiecola · 15/12/2016 10:44

I have a question about AB that has been concerning me for ages. It's probably going to make me sound ignorant and I probably am, but here goes. I'm thinking about Chinese medicine, and some of those unethical ingredients, and I'm thinking about products I've seen in Singapore (sheep's placenta supplements for example). I know it's a slippery slope. But is there true transparency re the INCI on AB products?

OP posts:
Pupsiecola · 15/12/2016 10:47

So the Q10 is the one in my Amazon link bo? It looks like there are three products in the pick but they are one and the same (including packaging)?

OP posts:
botemp · 15/12/2016 11:12

I'm confused now? 3 in the pick?

But yes, the one you linked to Amazon is the Shiseido Senka Aging Care UV Sunscreen/Senka Mineral Water UV Essence SPF 50+ PA++++, orange tube with Q10 on the front packaging.

The Japanese have very strict stipulations and quality control and the same can be said of the Koreans (may even be more stringent) in line with the EU. I'd rather get something from Japan or Korea than the US for example in terms of how they've designed their monitoring systems and allowance of controversial ingredients. Taiwan also very reputable. China I'm unlikely to buy anything from anytime soon.

Where we do run into a bit of trouble is how the INCI is set up, the Japanese follow our lead by listing ingredients by order of concentration, the Koreans don't follow that unless the product is sold internationally where it would have to adhere to their INCI order stipulations but if you're importing it then you're usually dealing with the Korean order which isn't all that transparent and guessing concentration of active ingredients is simply impossible.

They do like a bunch of odd ingredients in Korean skincare, mostly animal origin like Horse Oil which is just horse fat, equally collagen can come from pigs, same with placenta, etc. Although anything pig is all being phased out as the Middle East and Indonesia are huge markets for them. When I first got into AB there was a bit of a ground starfish craze, never heard from it again, these tend to come and go all the time. For the most parts the Asians don't jump on the odder ingredients and when they do they usually praise it to the high heavens so you'd really have to not be paying any attention to miss it. However, if there's EGF in an AB product I always want to know it's of non animal/human origin even though confusingly they're all listed as Human-oligopeptides.

Then there are a few ingredients that are being flagged here like methylisothiazolinone for sensitisation issues and the industry has therefore voluntarily started phasing out, you'll come across it in some AB now and then, which is why I set up that spreadsheet a few weeks back to cross reference unknown INCI on to see if they're allowed in the EU, it's usually in the preservatives sphere. Though it appears the Japanese ban less on that spreadsheet, they're actually stricter as they ban entire groups of ingredients than weigh out individual ones.

Pupsiecola · 15/12/2016 11:33

Wow. Fascinating Bo. Thanks.

I've got a couple spots on my forehead. I very rarely get spots. It's most likely either the Pai Age Confidence oil or the DHC cleansing oil. Unlikely to be the latter? I have been using Pai more... Don't think I've changed anything else. I imagine spots to come up a couple days after using their cause. is this fair?

OP posts:
botemp · 15/12/2016 11:45

It depends on the product and person in all honesty, have had product related spots two weeks after starting things and others it was within a day.

How are you doing with the BHA? I know you initially got that on the back of rosacae/combo skin but since the dry/dehydrated bit you seem more convinced not to be combo at all and you had the Clear one IIRC which is more suited to oily skin, are you still using that in the same cycle?

Pupsiecola · 15/12/2016 15:12

I have two BHAs cos I ordered the wrong one initially. I need to look into that (it was early on when I didn't know any better). I figured the other one could be used by my DS.

I have:-

Clear Regular Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution With 2% Salicylic Acid

Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

AuroraPolaris · 15/12/2016 16:29

bo I think we have the same taste in shoes cause I was looking at same boots but in dark green? Am I right? Never even dreamed of ordering them cause have same issues with sensitive feet.
I used to have custom made insoles (had them made after a knee injury) that did nothing for me and then bought smg Canadian vía one of my Pilates teachers (which she has been using herself for years) which is adaptive and brilliant though I don't use it all the time anymore (just lazy). It also has the benefit of making shoes more comfy.

Re what bo wrote above in terms of AB ingredients - always check on cosdna.com and never buy from China Xmas Wink
That whole subject is why I did my mini research on Snail poo (not really poo obvs)

Wow that SPF conversation on the other thread did go on for ages with all the sensitive skinned ladies fretting before the summer pheewwww....
