Ok, I totally didn't read your post properly bo Glossier are going global! Ooh, I'm pleased.

hollinhurst84 · 11/12/2016 14:25

I just woke up Grin
You will be pleased to know I removed all my makeup, double cleansed, and did my full routine!

AuroraPolaris · 11/12/2016 16:02

Yongian I think when you have sensitive skin you really should not take risks with using different stuff when traveling. It's really worth wile decanting what you use at home and you know works for you.

LM palettes always look lovely and tempting from the outside but they tend to use such boring and safe eyeshadows... yawwwnnn

Pupsiecola · 11/12/2016 17:11

Thanks for all the links bo. Will distract me nicely from kitchen-extension-hell. Latest in the saga is the "project manager" refusing to return our key despite being asked several times. We had the locks changed yesterday and will be deducting the £130 from the plasterer's bill which is due this Wednesday once he's finished. Someone else has taken over now. But we are into our third week without ANY facilities in the kitchen and DH has just left the house until Friday.

Re SPF I tend to use the 30 if I'm going out for a 5k run first thing, at this time of year :-)

The TO Vit C packaging has changed again or are they using an old pic in that Telegraph article?

We pay the plasterer via the PM btw. It's the last trade we will use via the PM. So the PM Will be out of pocket as he will need to pay the Plasterer his full amount. Wasn't going to punish the poor plasterer!

Omg you have been through the mill pupsie Shock have you a deadline now?

wiltingfast · 11/12/2016 18:44

My new Laura mercier primer is causing my face to go beetroot, NOT a good look! Back it will have to go...

Am v impressed at your dedication Hollin! You looked fab, was it a good night?

botemp · 11/12/2016 19:32

Ifyoubuildit, can I ask what you're wanting/expecting from a night cream and/or eye cream. Most people start out looking for a decent moisturiser but it usually means they're looking to resolve some sort of issue and it's rarely a moisturiser that helps with that in the end. Equally people think they need an eye cream when that's not always the case.

I'm assuming you have relatively unfussy skin otherwise this wouldn't have all passed you by so easy and a simple basic routine will sort you out easy enough. The questionnaire we use at Tue 29-Nov-16 @ 19:11:43 (sorry don't know which page, I have mine set to a 100 messages per page) helps us give the best advice with the relevant facts as there really is no standard 'good' moisturiser that universally works for everyone.

Jo, it's tough to say I do think Niacinamide is beneficial and could potentially be helpful to you but I think the same of several other ingredients that in theory should help you out but may backfire all the same. The high concentration is a concern so diluting it is a safeguard but you might find it's still too much or the ingredient like many others doesn't suit you (or something else in the formulation) so it's really worth wondering if you want to try again with the knowledge that it might not work out, though this is pretty much a given with any new product and your terribly sensitive skin. Is there any way you could patch test it in one area, close to the face perhaps and see how you get on first?

I'm getting a little misty eyed here... you're all growing up so fast

You know I've considered so many times of getting the Chanel Soleil Le Tan but I'm so worried it'll come across as orange on me, it requires a bit of technique to get it right, no? They're also quite contradicting in advice, some say under foundation others over.

Never used the Clarins exfoliator but P50 is stronger than that I believe.

A beetroot wilting Shock that doesn't sound good, is it purely a reaction?

Actually I was thinking about the travel palettes and usually I just take anything in pencil/tube form with me, usually leaving the palettes at home. So I have a few beach sticks from Charlotte Tilbury (a blush and the bronzer) some Kiko eyesticks but I usually don't end up wearing them and everything else like lipsticks, pencils, mascara, brow gel, is already in travel friendly tubes. Beyond the mirror travel palettes aren't all that practical to me and I always worry something will happen to them so I don't actually take those out of the house.

Your PM sounds mental Pupsie Shock, his conduct lacks any sort of professionalism. I hope the plasterer at least still shows up (I'm assuming he will since there's probably tools in your house) and that you have some extra support around you with DH away. Flowers

Indecisivejo · 11/12/2016 20:04

bo patch testing never seems to work for me, I have to apply it all over face to get a true result (I have patch tested on jaw before and been fine but was terrible when applied all over) also sometimes it can take a few days for my skin to protest.
I just feel like I'm missing something in my routine, I have a cleanser, my subq serum and an oil free moisturiser which I think I'm happy with but it's just the ocassional redness, breakouts (usually sore red spots or tiny whiteheads that can almost be scratched off, not daily and not severe though), some surface congestion, again not bad though and the shine I discussed before even though I'm not oily.

AuroraPolaris · 11/12/2016 20:37

Poor pupsie, your DH is going away again. At least you have someone else do to the job now so I hope you have a better week. And what an idiot is the ex-PM not to return the keys Xmas HmmXmas Angry

Yes the travel palettes are always hit and miss and there is always something in there you know you are hardly ever going to use... That is why last year I ended up buying a cheap one that fits in the palm of my hand. Must say the bronzer and highlighter are pretty good. The search continues....
I do find the KIKO sticks very handy for travel cause you can just use them as thick eyeliner and smudge a bit, or on the whole lid, or play with the intensity etc etc... many looks in a little crayon (or a few of them). There's nothing better than a two minute smokey eye Xmas Grin

hollinhurst84 · 11/12/2016 21:34

wilting yes it was great! We had a Greek meal (set Christmas menu) and the food was really good. Moved on to a bar/club afterwards

yongnian · 11/12/2016 21:58

hollin doffs cap.
Yes I was slightly experimenting on myself for a purpose this weekend -they are products I've used before, but if I go away for longer than 48 hours I generally do proper decants, though my routine has expanded somewhat since the last time I was away. But I've confirmed to myself that I am actually genuinely doing my skin some good (rather than just having a new obsessive activity Grin ) so will be packing minis of all my usual stuff for the much longer Christmas stint.
Travel make up wise, I do like a lot of sticks (chunky eye pencils - now there's another holy grail quest I am continually on) but I am also a big eyeshadow fan so do like to take a decent eye palette, as well as a good cream blush or two. Generally I take a good eye palette and cream blushes on the side...but trying to streamline further...possibly too far....
indecisivejo that's the same for me with patch testing, my skin can be alright for a while with something then suddenly just go 'nah'.
pupsie ye gads, no wonder your poor head burst in the spa.

Pupsiecola · 12/12/2016 08:31

Two weeks without our water softener in situ and wow what a difference. My elbow eczema is playing up and my hair is more dry and frizzy for sure.

Somersetlady · 12/12/2016 09:13

Ok so I have read the advice and threads and am so confused hoping you can help.

I am 37 have dry skin and have tried everything in a pot at sometime or other. For this reason i have goven up and I will buy and try everything. La Pratie i like but LRP is just as good. Creme dlm did nothing lancome peels off my face charlotte tilbury magic cream (lastest try) is just average and very expensive.

Would like to help my eyes especially as am starting to get wrinkles!

Currently use organic rosehip oil and LRP Lipikat Baume AP baby stuff on my face as its handy and I have it for the kids! Also use vitamin e oil a few times a week.

I get a reaction to silicone.

I have nip and fab pads use occasionally and st ives face scrub couple of times a week.

I wear Eborian korean skin theraphy cc creme high definition radiance face cream skin perfector which is the most amazing product on the market ever I am sure you ladies know about it already. It comes out white but changes colour when rubbed into skin and has spf25.

So here goes:
Skin type: Dry/ dehydrated

Approx age (range): 37

Primary skin concern: lack of moisture wrinkles under eyes and furrow between eyebrows.

Routine: slap on rose hip oil in the evening use lrp lipikar baume morning and evening. Erborian cc creme on top for day.

Occasional treatments:
Nip and fab pads.

Things I've tried in the past with disastrous results: anything by smashbox or armarni. Go red and blotchy.

Things that are really working well for me now:
Rodehip oil

Any dietary/health concerns/pregnant:
Sadly just had a miscarriage so skin is breaking out a bit.

What I'm willing to spend on a single skincare item: no limits but prefer to be able to get sample for anything over £100.

I specifically [want help with/am looking for a product to/am curious about trying]...
Anything easy. Im not. Hot cloth cleansing bug routine type of girl and am lazy enough to just slap creammon before bed after my shower.

Thank you in advance!

yongnian · 12/12/2016 09:14

Interesting it makes so much difference pupsie. We could probably benefit from having one here (non-mains water - bore-hole). Are they ver involved/expensive to install?

Somersetlady · 12/12/2016 09:14

Apologies for the awful spelling am not sure how to go back and fix it now!

Somersetlady · 12/12/2016 09:22

I was about to order some of the p50w to try but it says on reviews its very smelly. I hate smelly stuff.

yongnian · 12/12/2016 09:23

X-posted somersetlady hello and welcome...are you basically just moisturising then and doing the n&p pads/st. Ives scrub occasionally? I.e. Not cleansing...?
Just checking...I'm not one of the most knowledgeable posters so you'll get more expert advice shortly...but that would be the first thing I'd wonder about your routine.
The Eborian stuff sounds great, have heard good things about that range from elsewhere.

BadgerIt · 12/12/2016 09:27

Emergency question bo!

You prescribed LRP Toleriane Dermo Cleanser, Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum, LRP Toleriane Fluid Moisturiser and
Kiehl's Biological Overnight Peel for my dry, sensitive (and likely hormonal) skin.

I'm successfully working most of the above into my routine, however, my Kiehl's hasn't arrived yet and I'm leaving to go home for Christmas today Xmas Sad I have some Superdrug glycolic overnight peel www.superdrug.com/Skincare-Offers/Superdrug-Naturally-Radiant-Glycolic-Overnight-Peel-30ml/p/953857 will this do as a temporary step-in for the Kiehl's?

Somersetlady · 12/12/2016 09:42

Yongnian thnks for your speedy reply. I dont cleanse. I did buy the eve lome hot cloth cleanser but am so lazy it is definitely out of date now.

Maybe I have reached an age now where that should become a priority? If so which one should i use?

Have just been on The Ordinary site and basically ordered one of everything to try. Confused

botemp · 12/12/2016 10:37

INTERVENTION TIME

I'll respond in more detail to your questionnaire later, but in all sternness, Somerset, cancel The Ordinary order, you're not even on a basic routine of any sorts, you need to sort this out first before even daring to look at The Ordinary never mind attempt to slap it all on your face and hope for the best, this random hope for the best behaviour is counter to what we discuss and hope to achieve on this thread and why you've had little success with skincare so far. I repeat CANCEL the order, in all likelihood 80% of it will have absolutely no use for you and it will be several weeks, if not months, before you can get started on it.

Badger, I'm not familiar with the product but I wouldn't advise to substitute like for like in the routine, the Kiehl's is quite unique. And you really need an SPF in your routine before introducing any sort of Acid/Peel product. I know patience is tough but you're going to have to conjure some up I'm afraid. Is there no chance of being able to stop by a Kiehl's vendor for some samples?

AuroraPolaris · 12/12/2016 10:41

Pupsie it's amazing it makes such a difference... Oh oh I'm starting to have sinful thoughts now about water softener!!!

Somersetlady hello and welcome - again, but just to make sure, you never cleanse, i.e. apply stuff over the CC cream at night and then just reapply the CC cream the next morning?

And yeah P50 smells of ACV.

Pupsiecola · 12/12/2016 11:09

I haven't noticed the smell of the P50W!

The water softener was about 1700 quid fitted, two years ago. Then we have to buy huge blocks of salt for it. Worth every penny though! The difference re the shower and appliances and kettles etc. re the limescale is horrid. (The fuckwit PM put the 1200+ water softener in the garden without telling me and left it there for TWO DAYS!! It was a couple weeks ago when temperatures were below -5 overnight. He hadn't emptied it so the water in it had frozen and thawed, frozen and thawed. He's bloody lucky it didn't actually crack).

OP posts:
Somersetlady · 12/12/2016 12:08

Thank you bo i feel suitably chastised and will cancel the order. I have absolutely no idea as you rightly pointed out!

I did think it was such a bargain though would be worth a shot! Confused
