Anything with such a high amount of ZincOxide is bound to be very chalky in texture yongnian. Doesn't seem to be the microencapsulated type either so probably not the nicest texture. If you want an organic one with a decent texture John Masters Organic do a nice one but it's pricey, also SPF30.

I don't think anyone stops presses anymore, things just go viral... everything for that matter and nothing is really news anymore it's all just endless content that becomes meaningless unless it involves cats .

Jo, niacinamide is mostly good for skin tone evening, improve the appearance of enlarged pores (not massively but it definitely helps), it helps decrease sensitisation, fine lines, brightening, and helps restore compromised skin. Also has some pollutant mitigating properties. Zinc is mostly soothing and anti-bacterial.

botemp · 10/12/2016 22:31

How puritanical white are we talking here, Ifyoubuildit, are you using anything at all?

AuroraPolaris · 10/12/2016 23:52

Well next time I have to go there I'll use my BT blush with just a sprinkle of Nars Orgasm on top so I can also get out fast... and I'll have the Stila palette by then to camouflage anything that needs hiding Xmas Grin

AuroraPolaris · 10/12/2016 23:54

Grrr pressed post by mistake.
The formulation looks very very interesting. I will investigate tomorrow!**
You are a proper P50 convert now bo Star

yongnian · 11/12/2016 00:01

Hmm ok just casting around trying to find an alternative before bowing to the inevitable and shelling out for elta md....
Just ordered my Daniel Sandler samples though Grin
Love how everyone is planning for what life will be like when they get their Stila palette! Grin Grin. Mind you, it is pretty awesome knowing you will be able to camouflage anything.....like now whilst away for example....
Oh by the way, I am using a Sephora mini travel palette just now whilst away..(blush, two lip colours and four eye colours plus good mirror) it's v handy and small but the colours actually aren't that useful. Anyone know of any good similar travel palettes before I go trawling?

botemp · 11/12/2016 00:10

Don't think the EltaMd is mineral, is it? Think it's a mineral/chemical mix (not a bad thing but if you're sensitive to chemical filters or need mineral only worth keeping in mind).

Oh yes, the sky was terribly grey and miserable weather today and I was meandering about how my under eyes were looking a bit miserable because of it, if only I had a Stila palette, I'd knock the slight grey tone right out from underneath them! We still need to figure out our bulk discount, where is MNHQ when you need them?

Yes, I'll be investigating the INCI per ingredient tomorrow too, Aurora. I think he misinformed me about the Licorice Root Extract Sad as I'm not recognising it by the usual names but will wait and see till tomorrow.

EnidButton · 11/12/2016 00:52

ifyou I'm really liking Kiehl's avocado eye treatment (eye cream) at the moment. Rich without being greasy. Good if you're feeling a bit dry or tight around your eyes at night. I don't have a huge experience with eye creams though so someone else might be able to suggest others.

I just want to moan about report that I have a hard, painful lump right in the centre of my right cheek. Angry (

EnidButton · 11/12/2016 00:55

And yes, if I had the Stila palette I could cover that Angry right up. It might end up looking a bit Envy but it'd still be an improvement.

Dulcimena · 11/12/2016 01:14

This thread moves so fast...! Hope everyone's doing well.

hollin you definitely have the skills. Can you do my makeup too please? Grin

The blush sounds fab bo, must look at them properly when in London next. I may have bought another lipslique...in my defence, formula is fantastic.

The new P50 - is that the same as the Asian version that may have been called P50T - at least I think it was T? Can't remember where I read about it but iirc it was an Asian exclusive.

My TO niacinamide and caffeine have come, so can I quickly check when to add the niacinamide in? I'm thinking alternate mornings, possibly mixed with Buffet at least initially, and not at the same time as vit c, does that sound OK? Any other factors I need to consider? Progressing to daily assuming no adverse effects.

Re mineral s/s, there's a US brand called Burnout that I've liked a lot in the past - def the most cosmetically elegant physical s/s that I've tested. It's had a few reformulations and I've not tried the current version, but it might be worth checking out. I believe it's zinc only, no titanium. The ocean tested or kids versions were the ones I preferred.

EnidButton · 11/12/2016 01:15

You look really good Hollin 👌🏻

Is this your amazing new blusher bo? www.cultbeauty.co.uk/surratt-artistique-blush.html

Pupsiecola · 11/12/2016 10:08

Just re SPF I really like the Eucerin one I use (SPF30 Dry Skin). It's really light, goes on well and has no white cast. I prefer it to LRP I think. Probably EltaMD too although I need to try that out more.

OP posts:
botemp · 11/12/2016 10:13

How's the morning treating you Hollin?

Yes, that's the blush, Enid, I have it in La Vie en Rose, thinking of getting the Duchesse next but wondering if it too would be on the softer side and I should be adventurous and buy the Rouger instead. Which colour Lipslique did you get this time, Dulci?

It's not the same as the P50T:

Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Sodium Glucate, Niacinamide, Propylene Glycol, Lactic Acid, Magnesium Chloride, Vinegar (Acetum), Citric Acid, Cochlearia Armoracia (Horseradish) Root Extract, Arctium Lappa Root Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Capicum Fruescens Fruit Extract, Serine, Urea, Allantoin, Sodium Lactate, Sodium Salicylate, Sodium Benzoate, TEA-Lactate, Sorbitol.

Can't really find a lot of info on the T version beyond this INCI (they bought it in Tel Aviv). Looks similar to the W but with less acids? I think they sell it in hot climates and maybe it's one with less photo-sensitivity or something?

Enid, IME very little helps with subcutaneous spots, you have to wait it out till it surfaces, at best encouraged to speed up with some targeted AHA.

Sounds about right, Dulci, though unless you're really sensitive like Jo I don't think you'd need to buffer the Nia in.

Some Sunday morning reading/viewing:

Dr. Sam Bunting Science Skincare Series on AHA

Telegraph on the best bits from The Ordinary and info on their new primer (am suitably intrigued and on the wait list as a result)

Anyone care to explain to me the obsession of the Telegraph and Kate Middleton's grooming habits? Xmas Confused Including in this article about how to go crazy with botox, fillers, etc. to perfect your smile to make you look instantly younger and like KM apparently. I didn't even know people obsessed about their gums this much and it kind of demonstrates where I think botox and fillers skew into creating 'problems' that were never considered problems until there was a treatment for them.

Sali Hughes was on about teenage skincare this week also a new (really like those, especially with the veteran professionals) starring Sam McKnight (of hairdressing fame and think the first man in the series).

SPF30 are generally more comfy to wear (if we're talking western SS). Also make me react less, can wear the Clarins SPF30 without issue but not the SPF50, the level of protection difference is minimal (95% vs. 97% or in that range) but with the use of strong acids, retinoids, or certain conditions like melasma you need the fail safety of an SPF50.

botemp · 11/12/2016 10:20

Sorry, meant to include this link on a brief review of all the glossier products up there^.

AuroraPolaris · 11/12/2016 10:26

Thanks for the reading list bo.
(By the way I don't know why the bold font went so wrong in my last post from yesterday, smg on the phone I guess).
Kids have done homework, h is off the the gym and I can watch the ITB video. I've also liked many of those, those a few have also been Hmm
Will do the science research later. Feeling lazy as I know I'll have the builders and painters here the whole week...

Duchesse looks like the shade I would go for, but then again why would I need another blush in that shade, and when would I get to apply it?? I use blush every day but so little, so they last for literally ages.

Last winter I was also on the lookout for a travel palette as I knew I had a few trips in a row coming up. Was mainly looking for a cheek palette and it was so hard to find a combo of pale bronzer and highlighter and blush that were not too shimmery. I looked high and low and in the end just bought a MUR one which has quite a good bronzer (can also serve as subtle eyeshadow), great highlighter and ok (bit one dimensional) coraly pinky blush. Lancôme had a nice one but the blush was so sparkly, bit stupid for daytime...

botemp · 11/12/2016 10:38

Yes, forgot about the day time travel palette question. Look out for one in the January sales on SpaceNK, they usually have the Laura Mercier ones that are very compact but cover the basics well. They always come out at Christmas but are a bit boring for that so end up in the sales for decent prices. Don't buy into the duty free specials, especially Chanel are the worst for this, the product quality is completely different to their normal stuff. The Aerin weekend palette is also lovely (with their lovely bronzer for pale-ish skin, my favourite cheek product, a few basic brown eye shadows and two rosy lip colours) but not as available everywhere as it used to be and will probably be discontinued, think Net-A-Porter still has them.

Ifyoubuildit · 11/12/2016 11:08

Botemp - I'm not a complete virgin but I totally wing it. I really don't understand all the products bb, cc, serum etc etc and when I ask the pros in the shops they recommend so much stuff I feel a bit conned tbh.

At the moment I cleanse using an organic cleanser recommended at my local health food shop (which I like) and I moisturise with whatever moisturiser is on offer HmmAt the moment it's an olay one from boots...

Indecisivejo · 11/12/2016 11:53

bo do you think I should be brace and order the niacinamide? Do you think it would benefit me (used in the way you suggested)
Also just looked at the caffeine and I'm tempted by that too, has anyone used it and seen results?

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 11/12/2016 12:03

bo Thanks for the badge Grin

I feel like I'm being very restrained not just ordering masses of new stuff. I hate waste, l so I am determined to work through products I've already got, unless they're actively causing harm! Think I'm going to distract myself by creating a very detailed plan of stuff I want to try.

Holling you look fab in the photos I hope you had a great night and aren't suffering today.

UntamedShrew · 11/12/2016 12:10

Christmas chaos means I got very behind with this thread but I'm all caught up now.

Pupsie you were asking about bronzers. My favourite buy of all of 2016 was the Chanel bronzing make up base. It's a creamy solid texture you sort of smear on with fingers - but for me with my tendency to dry skin this is tons better than a powder. I really recommend it.

I've not got on so well with the TO retinol so that's getting the boot and I think I'll go back to the Skinceuticals retinol. Pricey but it lasts ages as you use such a small amount.

Am loving the body shop cleansing balm and also the snail poo cream! Grin

Tempting to get some P50 once Xmas spending is over but in the meantime I found some samples of a clarins exfoliating lotion which is an AHA and it's lovely. Is P50 like a stronger version of this, do you know?

yongnian · 11/12/2016 13:46

Yes keep going back and forth on physical/mineral or a mix for SS - skin is so easily irritated was thinking a mix might be good. That Eucerin rec sounds good pupsie thanks. Not doing any major acids at the mo, and don't have melasma but do have hyper pigmentation and of course the rosacea needs good coverage.
Travel palettes, hmm ok in that case I might 'make do' with an old Chanel one (what a first-world problem!!) and see if I can score a nice one in Jan. Will still be in France just too.
Do you think Glossier are likely to get round to international shipping bo? There are a couple of their products I'd like to try.
Hmm I'm developing a bit of an Aerin fixation now...
Interesting to note my minimal/edited weekend travel skincare routine has made my eyebrow seb derm flare up worse (including flaking - lovely!) by the second day so need to do a decant of rice bran oil, my milky cleanser and get a mini thermal spray...as the travel cleanser I've used obviously hasn't suited. Less water than I normally drink and an overheated environment compared to my usual freezing old pile will have contributed too no doubt.
I was curious whether my upgraded skincare home routine was really making such a difference or whether I was just imagining it to reassure myself it wasn't just a waste of time and money....but I've quickly seen how my skin has responded for the worse this weekend with a different routine/products so....looking forward to getting home and slathering myself with the 50 million products I'm more used to these days!! I could even conclude I need to buy one or two things as my weekend travel kit clearly isn't up to it including the Aerin palette
