Are the walls lined with Surratt eyeshadows Badger I might be tempted?

I just realised I ignored the makeup bit, what do you want to change about the ELDW, do you need to wear something high coverage/longlasting? Others will know better than me though, I just wear LM Tinted Moisturiser which is very light coverage.

MintyChops · 07/12/2016 19:18

Ok, have finally caught up on both threads AND have sedated the children with Spongebob and a fruit plate so can go through my stash and see if anyone can run an eye over it....

Skin type
Normal/ dry, flushes easily, dryness mainly round nose, cheeks and forehead can feel tight, sensitive, get spots on chin and in crease of nose too (where annoyingly it is driest).

Approx age
43 but feel about 80 today thanks to rampaging children

Primary skin concern
Redness, dryness, bags under eyes

Routine
AM
Cleanse: Clarins extra comfort anti pollution cleansing cream/ LRP Toleriane
Acid: not every day but use Pixi Glow tonic (not going to RP)/ Clarins gentle exfoliator
Spray: LRP Thermal spring water/ Pixi hydrating milky mist
Serum/treatment: Bobbi Brown intensive skin supplement/ Caudalie Premier Cru elixir/ few drops Clarins Santal oil mixed into moisturiser/ Sunday Riley good genes - love this, want to try a PC AHA replacement as it is so expensive.
Eye cream: Kate Somerville line release under eye line release cream
Moisturise: Darphin exquisage beauty revealing cream (not going to RP, too expensive)
SPF: in summer only (I know, I will mend my ways) Clarins spf30 or 50 if on hols somewhere hot, also use Clinique superdefense eye cream with spf 20 in the summer. It's not enough is it?

PM
First cleanse: Clinique TTDO balm/ Ren No 1 Purity balm/ if wore make up Kate Somerville true lash eye makeup remover as well
Second cleanse: Clarins extra comfort anti pollution cleansing cream/ LRP Toleriane
Acids: Liquid Gold 2/3 times a week or Clarins gentle exfoliator or Pixi Glow tonic or Pixi glow peel pads - not going to RP either of these they are only ok
Spray: LRP Thermal spring water/ Pixi hydrating milky mist
Oils: pestle & Mortar Retinol oil (not when I have used the LG, have only just got it but love it already)/ Kiehls midnight recovery/ Clarins santal oil
Moisturiser: The Darphin one again but want to replace this.

Una Brennan rose one, gorgeous/ Caudalie instant detox on chin/ Body shop vit e sink in Moisture mask is skin v dry

Makeup
Often a tinted moisturiser, Laura Mercier or Bobbi brown. If going out then Chantecaille real skin.

Occasional treatments
Masks usually, Una Brennan rose one, gorgeous/ Caudalie instant detox on chin/ Body shop vit e sink in Moisture mask is skin v dry
Have just bought the lotion p50w so plan on working up to using that 2/3 times a week alternating with the liquid gold and Retinol oil
Use Aesops control gel if get a spot.

Past disasters
Clarins day and night creams have given me whiteheads in the crease of my nose, EH balm made me a bit red. SR Luna was a load of shite and di nothing for me.

Current triumphs
Thanks to you lot the LRP toleriane is working a treat and the Retinol oil is making my skin feel really soft and smooth

Dietary/health concerns/ pregnant
I have Crohns and I had a big flare up at the end of the summer/ early autumn which caused a major skin episode where my chin and jawline went mental, acne type spots with yellow heads which have left red/purple marks which are slowly fading.
Also have psoriasis but use stuff from my dermatologist and thankfully it is not on my face or chest.

What I'm willing to spend
No more than £100-150 on a single item and it would need to be TRANSFORMATIVE!

Would like help with/ any advice on trying
Want to change some things so my skin looks radiant but not red and a great spf to protect it. Have ordered TO Niacinamide, think this could go in in the morning, is that right. Also considering finishing the Darphin and introducing the LRP Rosaliac skin perfecting moisturiser or any ideas on what else I could try here?

Thank you so much, I am so enjoying reading your wisdom.

Dulcimena · 07/12/2016 19:44

On train home from London and forgot to mention Bo that I think I overheard the Surratt girl saying it was now stocked in Harvey Nichols too - in case that's a better option for EU delivery.

yongnian · 07/12/2016 20:44

Evening all and hello to the newcomers...
My PC BHA1% calm samples arrived today..so have cautiously applied to relevant places after the usual PM first stages of makeup removal, oil cleansing and a spritz of Serozinc....was then most inopportunly interrupted by the pesky toddler, during which time I was interested to notice my skin felt tight where I'd applied the BHA. (V unusual for me).
Ditched pesky toddler and did the rest of my routine...tightness gone...now waiting with baited breath to see if there are any visible results.
In other new product news, have wangled my TO niacinamide in AM...the moogoo irritable seems to be keeping my seb derm calm...not playing with much else yet as trying to be good.
Oh and am continuing to play with my Stila corrector palette to achieve the effortless daytime skin effect...DH, on looking at me in daylight said (unprompted!) 'You look great! Really beautiful. Whatever that make up thing you're doing is working really well, cos you don't look like you're wearing anything, but just really good.' Preen. My make up is purely for my own gratification normally, but the odd compliment never hurt nobody! Grin so I'll take that one as top marks to Stila and all the skincare wisdom I've gleaned from here recently....
Continuing to haver over which blushers to splash on...processing....

yongnian · 07/12/2016 20:45

And Irritable Skin Balm

botemp · 07/12/2016 20:59

Thanks, Dulci. I had a look they do sell it and their shipping is slightly more reasonable but they have a limited selection so I'd still end up having to buy from at least 2 or 3 stores to get it all. I'm just going to have to sit tight and wait till Cult Beauty gets some stock in again. Might order the few eyeshadows they have in stock after your winning endorsement of brun noir. I figured I'd buy a Z-Palette for the interim but those things are bloody more expensive than I thought.

Whilst on CBI have found a new Vit C contender aka the never ending saga 20% with Ferulic and E, no fragrance or fragrance. Priced a bit high but still half the price of Skinceuticals, which isn't saying much...

Also from the same brand, mightily intrigued by this chemical and physical body exfoliant for KP the other never ending saga. Lots of different interesting acids, seeing as the 10% Lactic from TO has produced no results worth mentioning I'm highly tempted but still have to try the Urea 10% first...

Yongnian, that sounds wonderful! Especially since DH is such a colour expert, where did you end up buying it from am far too invested now. As to more tempting blushes, the Daniel Sandler watercolour blushes are awesome too, you need very little and looks like a natural flush but better. If you go to their own website you can order lots of little sample pots of the different colours which last forever.

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting on things to arrive, my black friday order haven't even gotten here yet from Lookfantastic, might have to start contacting them soon if it doesn't show up by Friday.

Minty, I still have to get to stressville tonight, if I manage that even, so might only be able to answer you tomorrow.

hollinhurst84 · 07/12/2016 21:02

Must admit I love my Z palettes, I've put some Mac shadows in there, mostly makeup geek ones and a makeup geek blush

botemp · 07/12/2016 21:12

The smaller ones seem reasonably priced but I'm not sure it would fit the blushes and eyeshadows and they aren't magnetic either so it's not ideal. Add in the shipping and it feels a bit of a waste for the interim. I shall just have to be very careful with them if I do end up buying them now and wait on the palettes to become available.

Just looked up the colour you bought Dulci, it looks like a lovely deep rose now I want that too.

CoconutAmericano · 07/12/2016 21:22

May I ask a question ladies? I am using 0.05% retin A every few days ( ive tried using every second day but my skin gets so red and flakey I've had to cut back, despite using a pea sized amount and buffering it with moisturiser) so I'm looking for a moisturiser with a high retinol content instead. At least I could use it every night! Can anyone recommend one please?

Thank you ladies Smile

Indecisivejo · 07/12/2016 21:22

I haven't tried the Superdrug serum believe it or not, the few times I've decided to try it it's been sold out which is why I ended buying the hylamide sub q which luckily I like so have just stuck with that.
Oh ok I defo won't try the Kiehls mask my skin doesn't like anything that is silicone heavy esp if it's the first ingredient and that cyclo something one.
I'm not sure about the sheen if I don't put anything on because I've always put something on if that makes sense, I could never cleanse and not put anything on after, my skin would feel 10 sizes too small! All the skincare I now use is oil free whilst still hydrating which seems to be working better but I do still get that sheen.
I'm not happy with my foundation either! I used to swear by dermalogica treatment foundation which they bloody discontinued then they brought out a replacement called cover tint (completely different from their sheer tiny) which again I loved but they decided to discontinue that too ffs! I now use no7 stay perfect superlight which will have to do for now but if it gets too near my eyes they sting and it doesn't seem to do much for my skin and could possibly be the culprit for my sheen?? Arrrrrrgh this is all so hard!

hollinhurst84 · 07/12/2016 21:26

Ah yes, maybe look at a cheaper alternative then. Ebay and etsy had some different ones
My precious ones (I have another but these are my most used)
I move my eyeshadows for the day into the smaller one BlushBlush because I like to plan my makeup. The blush stays in as I use it every day

Fantastic Skincare And Where To Find It
BadgerIt · 07/12/2016 21:30

That can be arranged, boGrin

I do prefer a full coverage foundation but know how heavy ELDW is, wish I could get away with lighter coverage but I just have so much pigmentation going on I wouldn't feel brave enough. I'm having a real problem getting sample of foundation these days, Chanel & Nars have both said they don't do samples (Nars were incredibly rude about it actually). Seems silly to have to buy a whole bottle of the stuff when there are so many ways you could go wrong with it.

hollinhurst84 · 07/12/2016 21:32

I very much like the Lancôme 24hr foundation, I've been using a beauty blender with it and it's lovely
Just seen that Deciem are doing... Well bringing out some form of coloured product. Not sure if it'll be a tint or foundation or maybe foundation drops

Pupsiecola · 07/12/2016 21:36

I'm not going to repurchase the LRP Toleriane Ultra. Or the Redermic (covered by Face Theory). Is Una Brennan a good brand for a second day and/or night cream? Did anyone see my post upthread about not being able to find her rose mask anywhere?

Thanks. Sacked the "Project Manager" today. Stress city here Xmas Angry.

Dulcimena · 07/12/2016 21:38

Bo, I'm back in London on Friday so I can try to take some pics or do more testing then. I've been looking at swatches of Bryn noir on the train and slightly worried that either I've got the shade name wrong or the store lighting skewed my perception Confused.

Update on the lipslique is that it wears really well and feels lovely on. A bit like chantecaille's lip chics but less...smooshy?? Lighter feeling and balmier. I want at least two more...

wiltingfast · 07/12/2016 21:57

ooo minty you purchased! Decisive Grin The reviews are so glowing I'm v tempted to take the plunge. Was going to buy the 2% PC BHA but maybe I should just spend all my money on p50w instead??

Am in bad foundation land too Badgerit. I'd been using ELDW light, but it's not working for me since I revamped my skin care courtesy of Bo. Not sure if I need a new foundation, or would a primer sort it out. Nearly bought a no7 primer today but chickened out when I noticed the silicon content. Maybe I just need a more hydrating moisturiser? V tempted by Drunk Elephant's Hydra Gel.... hmmm ponder ponder ponder. Grin

That stila correcter palette looks great too Yongian. Might cover my purple under eye area. O dear. This thread is not good for my credit card!

Pupsiecola · 07/12/2016 21:59

What a lovely thing for your husband to say yong.

AuroraPolaris · 07/12/2016 22:17

Wow, a few hours away from here and it moves fast Grin

Minty a bit late and my brain is fried, so just some preliminary ideas (and bo will probably answer you later)
-The Clarins cleanser is crap IMO and I'm sure it doesn't come off properly (because I tied it Angry - yes I'm still angry they claimed this was supposed to replace my fav cleanser, sorry I know I'm repeating myself but I will go on until they bring it back Wink).

  • I think you are using too much/ often AHA/BHA. The pixi and Clarins are very/ too strong and if you want to stick to LG 2-3 times a week just that would be enough. Of course if you ask me I'd say switch to P50, but use only that max 3 times a week.
-The Good Genes is also a very active product - so again together with all the other stuff, I think this is too much.

To sum it up - you should go for one AHA/ BHA product, more targeted HA, Vit C serum and maybe TO Retinol. So simplify, use more gentle things and more targeted products.

I also think the Ren No 1 cleanser used to be better as in they changed the formulation, but I can't be sure, just how I felt about it a couple of years ago.

Bo that "biocellulose" mask is a joke! Or a blatant lie, take your pick. Attached pic of the AMAZING L'Herboflore bio-cellulose mask INCI ^
^
Yongian well done and if your other half noticed (indeed not that we do it for them Wink) even more so!!!

I received my FU order - so am now the owner of the very very cute 50ml Serozinc and can travel with it in my cabin luggage Grin

Poor bo - so sorry to read all the detail about your hormonal ups and downs... but so glad it's going better now. FlowersFlowers

Pupsiecola · 07/12/2016 22:35

Coconut I've been using Face Theory Retinol for a couple of weeks and seem to be getting on well with it.

AuroraPolaris · 07/12/2016 22:37

And pupsie good on you for firing the PM! Hope your husband is back already and that you can make some progress now Xmas Smile

yongnian · 07/12/2016 22:53

bo I got it from the Stila site but they seem to be stocked all over the place...I reckon you would love it with your colour sense... go on get one so we can compare notes either that or buy the Surrat prismatic eyeshadow duo thing cos I'm intrigued
wilting I have brown shadows (honestly) - genetic and because of my skin colour. They are also currently much worse because of pesky toddler. The Stila is making mincemeat (seasonal pun) of them! I swear down, it's awesome. I am using a combo of concealer brush and beauty blender to apply.
The only tiny moan I have about it is it is overly highlighting the large pores on my cheeks...however, I think this is possibly an application prob more than anything else and is easily sortable with a little dab of pore blur over the top.
pupsie he is good at saying lovely things to be fair...(hence I married him, whippet-quick!! Grin). Sorry to hear your ongoing kitchen stress, hope the sacking will mean you get through it quicker.
aurora yes, quite! Hmm 50ml serozinc you say...might have to go there...I can imagine it's rather cute...
And hollin your palettes are awesome!!!! I take it you can just buy any refill pan?
By the way, I also have my first sheet mask waiting for its turn...a whamisa one...might give it a whirl on hols...any tips on getting the most out of them, any of the AB aficionados?

hollinhurst84 · 07/12/2016 22:56

Yep, anything magnetic will stick in them. I just am obsessed with makeup geek eyeshadows for the pigmentation but I'm using ABH modern Renaissance palette a lot at the moment as well

yongnian · 07/12/2016 22:57

Ok Daniel Sandler watercolour blush...bo I think it could be the holy grail. Bugger.

yongnian · 07/12/2016 22:58

Oh wait, xpost hollin make up geek is a brand?
