Do people still wear dressing gowns?

Do you wear a dressing gown? I feel like people don't anymore. I was thinking about what I wanted for Christmas. I have an old one on the back of my door but it isn't a nice colour or cosy so I don't wear it but would I wear one if I had one?

Yes!

Have loads! A fluffy teddy bear one that has taken the place of old favourite that was white and blue and ended up very grey looking.

Slinky silky satin one for in the summer, gorgeous thing

Soft thin cotton one for in the summer

Long cotton one for autumn and spring.

Fluffy warm only to the waist bed jacket one for reading in bed when it's cold!

viques I'll buy a personalised reading gown haha! It's the one type of dressing gown I actually haven't got!

I would like to confess I have a dressing gown "problem" Grin
I have 6 dressing gowns
1 towelling one for after shower
1 light weight summer one for visiting, holidays or hospital
1 silky robe with matching undies for intimate moments.
1 full length fleecy snuggly one, nothing better than coming in from a walk wet / cold getting into jammies, slippers and cosy dressing gown.
1 jacket length one for wearing with comfy joggers.
Worst of all a really old thin towelling one that I used to take when swimming with the kids, I could throw it on while I dried them, which meant I didn't get cold or keep having to clutch a towel around me. I did only use it when I was safely in a changing cubicle though. Blush

I love dressing gowns! I have four:

Long floofy one for winter
Short silk one for warmer weather
Sheer black chiffon one for special occasions
Floor-length silk one with feathers (have only worn this a couple of times as it makes me look like a middle-aged Big Bird in drag, and my cats attack the feathery bits any time I move, so all in all it's a good deal less glamorous than I'd hoped it would be... but I can't bring myself to part with it)

This thread has reminded me I need a towelling one for after shower / swimming though. May put that on my Christmas list.

I never wear a summer dressing gown but I love my winter one!! I do as Winston Churchill did and wear it all the time at home! DH hates it. But I love it - it's so warm and comfortable. I have been known to tear it off me and shove it in a cupboard when I hear his key in the door....

Placeinthesun · 25/11/2016 16:53

I just picked up a men's one in Asda.... Brushed cotton on inside, soft fleece velvety outside.... Reversible. Love it for after my shower when I'm getting dc ready in the morning.

I love my dressing gown! I'm affectionately referred to by the family as "Darth Snuggles" when I don my black, long, fluffy, hooded dressing gown with my black fluffy slippers. Grin

throwingpebbles · 25/11/2016 18:17

I pretty much live in mine when at home!!

weepat · 25/11/2016 18:49

Always! Wouldn't be without one. Santa brings a new one each couple of years.
I have a navy one with teddies on it that must be 10+ years old. Bought by my mum who passed in 2009.
Still washes great & cosy. I have 2 others that are more fulffy but this one is very comforting.

I'm a sentimental old thing .

ChrissyHynde · 25/11/2016 18:51

I have one but I call it my "house coat". Maybe a northern thing?

Oly5 · 25/11/2016 21:36

Yes, I have eight! Towelling ones for padding around after the bath, knee length fleecy one to wear over pjs or jogging bottoms, summer ones, mid weight cotton ones. I live in them

Cluesue · 25/11/2016 21:37

I have 2 Grin

MrsPeelyWally · 25/11/2016 21:40

I don't buy new Pj's without buying a dressing gown to match. So two sets of pjs to one dressing gown. A dressing gown does me two days. Pj's or a nightie just one night. I love a dressing gown.

Artandco · 25/11/2016 21:53

Washing dressing gowns every two days?

Oh yes I did when lived in a cold house, even slept in it on a very cold night with the hood up but now DH has the heating up much to high for my liking it's too hot so just have a selection of cozy cardigans I ware over nighty after bath

MeadowHay · 25/11/2016 22:16

Me and DH wear ours all the time at home during the winter months! We both have fleecy ones with our names on courtesy of my nanna last Christmas! Super cheesy but they're really warm and cosy.

PenguinsandPebbles · 25/11/2016 22:20

I love mine!

It was a Oooh that looks nice purchase from M&S it has a lovely big hood and is all fluffy Grin

Nothing better than having a long hot bubble bath and getting into it and drinking a big mug of hot chocolate

Even better if I have been a bit cheeky and text DP to bring me one up whilst I'm snuggled on the bed watching greys anatomy Grin with a cat or 3.

Bliss

MrsApplepants · 25/11/2016 22:27

I love my dressing gown, it's big, cosy, fluffy and warm, closest thing to a hug!

GrandMarmoset · 25/11/2016 22:36

Yes, but of course. Would live in mine, if I could.

Tigresswoods · 25/11/2016 22:38

We all do. DS 6 loves his!

Ellypoo · 25/11/2016 22:39

I wear mine as often as I can!

QueenCuntyFlippers · 25/11/2016 22:51

I love mine.

It's a luxurious fleecy M&S one from last Christmas.

I have never loved a piece of clothing so much.
