Do people still wear dressing gowns?

Do you wear a dressing gown? I feel like people don't anymore. I was thinking about what I wanted for Christmas. I have an old one on the back of my door but it isn't a nice colour or cosy so I don't wear it but would I wear one if I had one?

OOOOOH yes I do.
I have an amazing one thats silky on the outside and really soft towelling on the inside its so cosy.
Put it on your xmas list, there are so many lovely ones around now instead of the just the towel-type ones

Blue fluffy one with red stars, wear it most of the winter. Snuggly warm!

PlumsGalore · 23/11/2016 23:22

God no, not since I was about 10. I wear pyjamas and a zip up hoody. Can't stand dressing gowns, all that material and a tie belt, like wearing a coat indoors.

ggirl · 23/11/2016 23:23

love my dressing gowns
ds 14 wears his over his clothes like an old fashioned smoking jacket

PinkiePiesCupcakes · 23/11/2016 23:24

I wear one over clothes in the house, like a big furry house coat.

Its got pockets, is nice and warm, I loike being nice nd warm.

Bushybrenda1 · 23/11/2016 23:26

Fuck YES! I live in mine hehehe

Obsidian77 · 23/11/2016 23:27

Love them, I also have a winter one and a summer one. I generally hate clothes shopping but like buying dressing gowns because I know I'll enjoy wearing them.

angelikacpickles · 23/11/2016 23:28

Yes! I wear mine after my shower while I am doing makeup etc. and at the weekends when I get up with the kids.

vvviola · 23/11/2016 23:29

I used to have a lovely soft green one that I wore when I was feeding DD2 many many times in the middle of the night.

Somewhere along the night weaning process she got into the habit of stroking it.

The dressing gown is no longer mine and I have to make do with one that isn't quite so lovely and soft.

She occasionally will offer me a cuddle of it at bedtime... Hmm

littlesallyracket · 23/11/2016 23:32

I love them and am angling for a new one for Christmas.

OldRosesDoomed · 23/11/2016 23:33

Yes. I have 4, dd has 3. DH has 1 and rarely wears it.

BackforGood · 23/11/2016 23:33

Yes I do.
Yes dh does
Yes ds (20) does
Yes dd1 (18) does
Yes dd2 (15) does all the flipping time

Snuggly toweling dressing gown with a hood - very "hygge"

Tezza1 · 23/11/2016 23:36

This will sound stupid, but when I decided to Konmari my clothes, I looked at them, and virtually nothing brings me "joy" (I'm going to be left with about 5 items of clothing if I do it properly). However, my polar fleece pyjamas and especially my fairly expensive, fluffy mink feel (no idea what the fabric is) dressing gown does - it's so cosy, comfortable and snuggly. My cheaper winter weight ones just don't cut it.

Actually, at the rate I'm going, I'll have to wear my dressing gown everywhere.

poisonedbypen · 23/11/2016 23:39

Another family of dressing gown wearers here. DS also wears his like a smoking jacket.

SuperRainbows · 23/11/2016 23:40

I couldn't do without mine. I have a cosy one I sleep in!

megletthesecond · 23/11/2016 23:41

Only a towelling one for a while after a mid day post run shower or workout.

The rest of the time I wear pj's or track pants. Maybe my fluffy dressing gown when I'm very ill a few times a year.

marriednotdead · 23/11/2016 23:54

Can't imagine life without a dressing gown, it's an essential for me.

Is there a difference between a bathrobe and a dressing gown then? Confused

stillwantrachelshair · 23/11/2016 23:57

No! I much prefer a fleecy jumper. A dressing

stillwantrachelshair · 23/11/2016 23:57

gown is too long & flappy and the cord is always in the way.

PrimalLass · 24/11/2016 00:01

No. Bulky and annoying.

SuckingEggs · 24/11/2016 00:02

Love my gowns. Comfort instantly.

maggiso · 24/11/2016 00:09

I tend to pull on a fleece jacket over my pjs for early mornings, but I have a fluffy pink towelling gown for use after a bath if I have one before bed. DH has one - it is huge and fluffy and lives behind the bathroom door and I think he is the only one who has never used it!
