Or can anyone recommend comfy boots that aren't knee high (short arse here)

Comfort over style here - am usually a converse tomboy person.

I did Ugg about 5 years ago but now I feel they look a bit trashy, mainly for the reason that 99% of the 'Uggs' are cheap tacky fakes that look hideous. If you are referring to Ugg boots that are not the traditional big spaceman style boot that I imagine they are well made long lasting boots. So the answer I'm giving is a firm no to the sheepskin knitted monstrosities and yes to the leather normal style boots. IMO!

I love my Uggs for warm dry days! Also love flat leather riding boot style boots over leggings/jeans or tights & a jumper dress. For particularly wet days I would wear Hunter wellies as Uggs get ruined & leather doesn't retain heat

Sorry posted twice as first one apparently failed

KoalaDownUnder · 08/11/2016 05:29

If you mean these, the Golden Rule is: never outside the house! Grin Major boundary violation.

another shortie here
agree Uggs have been so copied that they are too ubiquitous
Being on the short side I tend to favour calve length boots as for some reason ankle boots look ridiculous and knee high ones are uncomfortable.

BusterGonad · 08/11/2016 05:37

Hi Koala am I right in thinking they are used as slippers Australia? Makes me think that I wished I never wore mine out side of the house and kept them as slippers as they are so comfy.

ChipIn · 08/11/2016 05:51

No uggs if you want to leave the house! I too am Aussie and yes they are essentially slippers here Grin or at worst a drive to get milk!

FV45 · 08/11/2016 05:54

Wear whatever you want OP.
I love my Uggs and don't give a rats arse what people think. They keep my feet warm and that makes me happy.

KoalaDownUnder · 08/11/2016 05:56

Buster - correct! House slippers only. Grin

echt · 08/11/2016 05:59

I'm going to push the boundary on this one, Koala and own up that I sometimes wear my Uggs to pick up the newspaper from the nature strip.Smile

KoalaDownUnder · 08/11/2016 06:10

echt, I wore mine to the laundromat once (once), on a freezing cold night, to dry one load.

My car got bogged.

You have been warned. 'Tis a slippery slope.

OhHaaaaay · 08/11/2016 06:24

The only Uggs that are acceptable to wear are the slipper ones (which I own and are fucking amazing) or, as wise pps have said, the longer ones but NEVER outside the house.

Worn as daily footwear they just look horrific; no matter how warm your feet are. They always look like an afterthought worn by school run mums who sport PJs in public. You'd be far better off investing in some decent boots that will keep your feet warm AND dry.

Softkitty2 · 08/11/2016 06:54

I think there are nothing wrong with uggs as long as its kept looking nice especially the heel getting worn on one side. I think in receny years it has been associated with people wearing tracksuit bottoms and 'uggs'..
I personally don't have one because it is not my style.. You can try timberland boots or the classic chelsea boots

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere · 08/11/2016 07:03

I just bought a pair of Uggs, the Wilcox ones ... they are so comfy I may never wear another pair of shoes/boots again Blush in my defence they don't look like slippers

FV45 · 08/11/2016 07:09

Ha! I had to collect son from 6th form thing. Knowing I'd just be in car I threw on tracksuit bottoms and my uggs as I'd been for run and had very quick shower. My god it was comfortable!

pklme · 08/11/2016 07:17

Rocket dog make great boots. Very comfortable, rubbery sole and heel so lots of cushioning. I have ankle boots, a friend has ugg length boots. I'd post links but I don't know how...

PNGirl · 08/11/2016 07:19

Wearing mine to work today (they're grey Celtic Sheepskin actually) and I don't care what people will think. It's cold!

Bluntness100 · 08/11/2016 07:32

I've thought about this too. I like uggs but do agree they have s bit of a reputation now due to all the copies. However I think due to that uou are starting to see them less often, used to be they were everywhere.

Personally I go for knee length, have both leather and suede, the suede is in a riding boot style, the leather more like s biker boot, they both work well with skinnies and are really really comfy.

PrimalLass · 08/11/2016 07:34

I love my Uggs and don't give a rats arse what people think.

This. I have a brand new chocolate leather pair waiting for it to be cold enough.

champagnefromapapercup · 08/11/2016 07:42

I have uggs and wear them to the supermarket on a cold day for instance. They're fab for pulling on and keeping your feet warm when you'd rather not go out.

If you're in 2 minds about them, given they're quite expensive how about sheepskin lines boots from ugg that aren't the standard or any other store? Warm flat easy wear boots are common now you'll be able to find some. I wouldn't pay for uggs if I wasn't sure they're so expensive!

Heatherbell1978 · 08/11/2016 07:44

I've worn Uggs for last 10 years in Winter (on my 3rd pair and yes, they're real!). I love them and think they look great with skinny jeans.

oldbirdtree · 08/11/2016 07:55

Am I the only one aghast that people here seem to spend £150 on a pair of slippers? Why would you spend that for something to wear in the house onlyConfused

I like them if worn nicely - skinny jeans, slouchy jumper, messy bun

Inthenick · 08/11/2016 07:59

I got lovely dark brown ones with a buckle around the ankle. I've taken to wearing them as my default. I'm sure I'm violating fashion rules but they look more like boots than uggs I think.

reader77 · 08/11/2016 08:04

My feet are addicted to mine. I've had. Word with them but they've said: no, we don't care if you want to be stylish. We want to be warm.

Feet won the argument.
