Hope that's an OK unilateral decision!

I am better today - not 100%, but temperature is significantly down to 38.5 - and I know this is still too high. I still have explosive diarrhoea, and really bad stomach pains, which Nurofen is keeping at bay quite well, and have had some lunch (good Eastern European stodge - no Rose, not klops!). Grin

Went to cinema this morning courtesy of MN to see A United Kingdom - can thoroughly recommend. Dragged DD2 out of her bed and took her kicking and screaming with me. She enjoyed it too. Then we went to collect her glasses and fought our way home (no bus, no tube from Charing Cross, only Embankment). Am now having a Nice Cup of Tea and may have a nap. DD1 is at concert at Ally Pally and is bringing two friends with her to overnight here, so will have to do a bit of tidying and make up beds.

MrsFilthPacket · 20/11/2016 17:05

I should be able to do lunch on the 10th, have charmless and lumpen niece here then, with the outlaws, but should be able to escape for lunch.

Cremolafoam · 20/11/2016 17:50

Mrs S , Sister will be cross with you.Angry Do try to look after self.Sad

HmmBtM Rotherhithe you say. Interesting.hmmSad,I would also love to go to the Craftacular that goes on at this time of year. maybe I will plan for next year...

Reasons to be cheerful:
1-Have cleared the whole of the front garden of leaves despite clinging damp
2- have bagged 'asked for' gifts for nephews this very afternoon.kerching
3- clean sheets, clean pjs after long hot shower.

NUFC69 · 20/11/2016 17:57

WAF, enjoy your drink with DSis. Glad you are marginally better, MrsF. Herbs, re DS and the football yesterday, I just think it's important for boys in particular to have something they are keen on, be it football or transport systems.

We are off to Derbyshire on Wednesday for our annual visit to the Christmas Market at Chatsworth and the house (decorated a la The nutcracker this year), but primarily for the present swap with DSis.

DD rang me in deep embarrassment: her DD, aged 3.6, asked a somewhat large visitor if he had a baby in his tummy. He replied, "no", but his tummy was full of children he had eaten. She thought that was hilarious and had a fit of the giggles.

Have the gales subsided? It's been quite pleasant here with no rain at all.

Not only leaving the house, but using public transport, with a temperature and the shits Mrs S/FP? You're a braver woman than I. Surely now's the time to make the most of your incapacity, and loll about being waited on.

Had slap-up lunch in a Brewer's Fayre carvery. Bloody love a carvery. DS regaled the whole table with the tube station song, which he has practically learned off by heart. I found it endearing; everyone else wanted him to shut up.

motherinferior · 20/11/2016 18:51

I am so stuck on this chapter.Sad

Rosebag · 20/11/2016 19:04

Grin NU

MrsF I am in wonderment that you have been out on various expeditions with a dodgy tummy....I am like an agoraphobe if I'm like that ...scared to go anywhere further than 2" from the loo!!!
i think i had better stop bad mouthing DH because he has just bought me and DD a MacBook Air each......Shock whispers John Lewis seems to have a mad deal at the moment...shhhhhh

bigTillyMint · 20/11/2016 19:04

Oh dear MI. Time for a Wine?

Cremo the market is in and between the Finnish and Norwegian churches which looked very festive (particularly loved the Norwegian one) and there were quite a few in National costume and many speaking Scandi. Would totally recommend Smile

Good 10th is good for you MrsS - anyone else?

Herbs, I love a carvery too. We had Toad in the Hole for tea Smile

herbaceous · 20/11/2016 19:10

What I love about this carvery: 1) you can have as many different meats as you want 2) it has cauliflower cheese as a veg. 3) You can have crackling even if you haven't had pork.

herbaceous · 20/11/2016 19:14

Mad deal on MacBook Airs you say? I just had a look... don't seem any cheaper than anywhere else. Am I missing something?

Collymollypuff · 20/11/2016 19:23

I think I can do 10th but it's end of term so not sure if my removal services will be required. I think they won't be.

Good things today:

  1. Dog is having barking dreams under the duvet
  2. Dd said the house looks better following what little decluttering has been done
  3. And...dd did not have a go at me for Touching Her Stuff - on the contrary, applauds the effort, phew. Way to go, Addams Family. You can ALL come and stay when the house is grown-up.
bigTillyMint · 20/11/2016 19:26

Herbs, all top reasons Grin

Molly do they have to move out at Christmas? Eeek! Glad your House Doctor skills are impressing your DD Star

herbaceous · 20/11/2016 19:30

Oh, and it's £9 for a massive plateful and a starter.

Collymollypuff · 20/11/2016 19:31

Only some unis do that, BTM, and I don't think dd's is one of them. Smile

Cremolafoam · 20/11/2016 19:43

Claudia winkelpicker looks like she's been out on the tiles. Rick Astley looks more like Jim Kerr than Jim Kerr. Jim Kerr looks like my postman.

bigTillyMint · 20/11/2016 19:45

Herbs, where is this carvery? Grin

herbaceous · 20/11/2016 20:05

It's in Chingford, BTM, up in Epping Forest, and is always packed. But it's a Brewers Fayre, so will have examples all over the place. However, as it's a franchise 'quality can vary'.

MI - re chapter, stop stewing over it. Leave it in a metaphorical drawer and let your subconscious have a go at it. Come back in a few days and the answer may magically appear.

bigTillyMint · 20/11/2016 20:08

Ah that'd be a bit of a trek for us. You just don't get them in London Sad

motherinferior · 20/11/2016 20:16

Nope, herbs, if I do that it will never happen. Have to keep plugging away.

motherinferior · 20/11/2016 20:17

I don't think my subconscious is up to the task.Sad

herbaceous · 20/11/2016 20:39

Trust your instinct. Use the force.

Or wine.

Lalsy · 20/11/2016 20:45

Sleep, MI, sleep.

Bargain MacAirs? Where?

BTM, I think it depends on let length as well as uni. dd had a 48 week let in yr 1 but her uni also had 30 week lets (ie move out Xmas and Easter) and from memory most offered similar options. The cost savings would probably pay for unibag service and discourage hoarding/excessive shopping anyway.Grin We only pick/drop June and September (but 2nd and 3rd yr at mahy unis are private lets anyway = annual). If dc find working at home hard/distracting then the longer lets are vv useful. Dullest post ever, up there with Tight Management System?

MrsFilthPacket · 20/11/2016 20:58

My mother is not coming to us for Christmas. She is going to a hotel in Bournemouth with a friend. She told The Daughter She Never Had, aka my cousin Z. She told Z not to tell me as she "was waiting to see if she was going to be invited to us and would then have pleasure in saying she had made alternative arrangements." Win-win, I'd say! Grin
