Following on from the skincare routines post, what ingredients do you make sure you include in your products, for example, Vit C, Vit E, Hyaluronic acid?

TIA

Oh oh now I want that as well.... Shock

EnidButton · 11/11/2016 21:51

I want those disco brushes! Stop forcing me to buy things! Wink

Wilt Oh good! Although the argan oil probably made a big difference. Very glad it helped.

bo I'm on the fence about parabens. Ideally I wouldn't want them in a product that was going on the thinnest skin on my body but it does sound like it's what I'm looking for. Hmm. Will have a look at the Pai again.

EnidButton · 11/11/2016 21:52

Black Friday is on the 25th of November this year for anyone else waiting for then.

botemp · 11/11/2016 22:34

Well if you like disco... these are awfully pretty. Thankfully sold out already so safe to look Grin.

AuroraPolaris · 11/11/2016 22:40

Very bright more like disco meets kawaii Biscuit

EnidButton · 11/11/2016 23:09

They're a bit too disco! Grin

hollinhurst84 · 11/11/2016 23:17

I have a set from spectrum that are like mermaid brushes, so pretty Grin

botemp · 11/11/2016 23:17

bo That looks like it should be on one of those 'glittery Facebook shit' threads.

botemp · 11/11/2016 23:25

A glittery FB page is far to nice a place for that, it should be burried and never seen again along with the idiots who pay that for a pot of glorified nivea.

Meh I don't hate them or the disco ones for that matter, I just hate the idea that my brushes don't match each other. It's a very worrying tendency, I'm aware.

Dulcimena · 11/11/2016 23:27

This thread moves so quickly! Going to go back and catch up on iherb and disco developments properly but Bo thank you for the Benton steam cream tip - will look it up now, and hollin I hope you're feeling better.

hollinhurst84 · 11/11/2016 23:30

Enid - yes but not that exact set Grin
They're so soft and lovely

botemp · 11/11/2016 23:32

Dulci, cosdna with full INCI is here:

www.cosdna.com/eng/cosmetic_bb04239454.html

EnidButton · 11/11/2016 23:37

Grin at glorified Nivea.

AuroraPolaris · 12/11/2016 07:34

Haha that CdlM!!!! But seriously if you compare that INCI list to the Benton one you can sum up exactly what this thread is about - knowledge and being in its possession vs the lies of some of the cosmetic companies Wink

And I'm afraid I broke my vow cause I did order smg from ICI yesterday, namely the Chanel VLA... how could I refuse at 27€ right?

Well bo what can I say - all my brushes have black handles. I wonder if I've been doing that unconsciously Grin

By the way when I checked iHerb I actually put smg in my shopping basket and proceeded a bit to see the PP and one of the options was just under 2€. I will investigate the customs problem this week Smile

botemp · 12/11/2016 10:54

I think I just have that dream of unrolling one of those giant brush holder thingies and all the brushes look like they belong together, though I don't think I'll ever have that many brushes as you just don't use that many on a single face that wears minimal makeup.

You were planning to buy the VLA anyhow so it's a saving! Ahem... yes that's what I'd be going with Grin.

When I dropped some things in there with iherb the cheapest shipping was around €7 but it was all pretty heavy, it is pretty reasonable for the US, but I have yet to really explore what they have that we can't get here. Physician's Formula mascara is supposed to be really good, right? Probably not a tuber though.

Was browsing The Ordinary site, seems the Caffeine eye serum and the other Vit C are now available. They're also going to be releasing a Marula oil which I'm a bit eh about. It's great for very dry skins that need a high Oleic acid oil but not too great for acne, sensitive, rosacea, etc. It's kind of a fashionable oil in the US right now and I'm just beginning to wonder if the Ordinary is only going to be making dupes of things that are already selling well now.

I've been using the Vit C and Retinol for about a week now on my face, and the LA 10% on my arms. It's a little early to be making conclusions but I probably won't be RP the Vit C, nothing terribly wrong with it but it leaves a very odd film on my face that I just don't enjoy and the dispensing system is just annoying, it's already half out as soon as I open the cap. I do find patting it in works best and it's very dependant on whether I used P50 the night before on how stingy it is. The mornings after Retinol it's not all that noticeable, I also suspect the Retinol is clogging up the pores on my nose, I've had to up BHA use to keep it clear. It could also be the Vit C but I'm pretty sure it's the Retinol. My KP still looks the same so can't conclude if LA is ineffective or the Ordinary LA is ineffective for use there, it does seem to have tightened the skin up somewhat but I can't say for sure, I'll finish up the bottle and then re-evaluate. Anyone else feel they're using quite a lot of The Ordinary stuff, as in volume, the droppers really are quite liberal as are the fluid textures.

I have yet to start on the Niacinamide, might swap out the Retinol for it this week and monitor the pore developments. Also, I have yet to figure out why Deciem is so anti BHA (particularly on the Ordinary info pages).

Speaking of, previous link fail for Dr. Sam Bunting's Telegraph video now fixed: Salicylic Acid Video

AuroraPolaris · 12/11/2016 12:44

Yeah I was going to get it anyway! So I saved A LOT! By the way, I also tried the LesBeiges foundation and I think it gave me some bumps on upper lip and chin... that is where I always react to stuff, though TBH I only tried it once as I didn't want to risk something major.

I used TO Vit C for the first time this morning. It did sting for about a second but nothing compared to the P50 and I didn't mind the slight grittiness which disappeared after a couple of minutes. Future will tell re results, but I really think this is a long term thing as I've been using the SC Vit C for about a month now and haven't noticed anything.

I'm very curious about TO caffeine eye serum. Black Friday....?

Pupsiecola · 12/11/2016 18:09

Yes I agree re the dispensing method of TO Vit C. What will you try instead Bo.

I've been alternating PC BHA with a PC AHA (bought tester size). Evenings only. I would consider P50 but am nervous about price and if it irritates.

Dulcimena · 12/11/2016 19:18

Interesting to hear your thoughts about the Vit C, Bo. I too feel that it's just sitting on my skin - did I read that it only does something for the first 20 mins anyway? If so, could I use it as a mask perhaps? I have the old style dropper bottle and it's really not suitable, product leaks over the edge of the bottle whenever you put the dropper in or take it out, it's such a mess. I thought the tube would work better.

The Lactic 10% I have been using up on neck and chest, won't repurchase.

The two things that I have been getting on really well with are the Buffet and the 2% Retinoid. I've noticed my skin looking fresher and glowier and these are the two TO things I've been using the longest. The HL premium HA serum plays nicely with the Buffet and I really enjoy them together.

I'm not using the P50W for a little while so I can work out whether it's that or the retinoid/buffet that's making a difference. My wallet would prefer it's TO additions. Realised I am breaking my own rule of trying loads of things at once so I have no real idea what might actually be working

Will order the Snail Bee cream this evening, the ingreds and reviews both look fab so thank you for the rec.

Hollin I saw the magnesium bath stuff in TKMaxx, the instructions said to use up to 1kg of product in the bath - but the bag is only 1kg! How much do you use?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :)

hollinhurst84 · 12/11/2016 19:21

I use about 1/4 to 1/2 of the bag. Usually 1/4 unless I'm having a very bad week Grin

Dulcimena · 12/11/2016 19:23

Oh that's much more realistic then, thanks. I couldn't imagine dumping the entire contents in a bath - does it dissolve or float or what? I was prodding the bag to work out what the consistency of it was Blush

hollinhurst84 · 12/11/2016 19:24

It dissolves, it's basically like salt texture

Pupsiecola · 12/11/2016 19:36

Do you rinse your body after a sth holding?

My skin is looking good buy I started actives in quick succession too.

Posted too soon. I like the Indeed Labs Hylauron. Think I would repurchase in the absence of anything else.
