Very, very sad & low today. Could have done with some peace to cuddle my puppy. But was trying to work to a deadline & deal with a distraught colleague from home, while helping DD with coursework & searching for her lost planner. These efforts punctuated by DDog rolling in fox shit Angry requiring major decontamination, then a mains water leak in kitchen, which I was lucky to find within seconds. Couldn't fix it ourselves, needed emergency plumber, loads of mopping and cleaning still to do.

Back/sciatica truly awful & I dread what surgeon will say on Friday.

We're going to local Italian for some distraction.

Message from Sister
All invalids & convalescents, please stand by & listen for the sound of squeaky shoes coming up the corridor. Examine your consciences: are you adhering to your care plans? Please prepare to have temperatures taken, pillows plumped & jugs of soothing cordial (ahem) topped up.
End of message

In your FACE Kidstropolis. How about this for universal panning. It evidently wasn't just me that thought it was utter shite.

bigTillyMint · 25/10/2016 20:37

Auriga Flowers sounds like a sorely trying day. Will you be able to get some time for yourself tomorrow?

DD and I were just watching a programme about faces/atraction (which she is studying in psychology) and it got pulled halfway through Confused

addle · 25/10/2016 20:56

BTM - how do you mean - it got pulled?

Auriga - hope tomorrow much, much better. it could hardly have more variety of awfulness than your day today

WAF - how is the writing going?

Trying to journal (deliberate use of unlikely verb) first thing every morning - supposed to be good to clear the mind and release energy. Just 2 A5 pages stream of consciousness. Supposed to be 3 A4 pages but I'm finding it so so difficult

And this weather, days drawing in furiously, good only for lying on the sofa and watching old films - unless of course you're down on teh sea front with MM, Rose and/or Rudy

bigTillyMint · 25/10/2016 21:00

Addle, they just said they were having technical problems with it and after the ads put on Travel Man instead. They have now said it wI'll be on Fri at midnightShockConfused

Journaling sounds like an interesting idea. I might give it a go if I remember in the morning!

Rosebag · 25/10/2016 21:17

auriga herbs you both get share the prize for the worst day. Flowers , and strength to carry on.

My finger just accidentally not clicked on this for forthcoming functions.....

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/10/2016 21:22

You poor thing Auriga. Hope Friday's news is better than expected or that at least it enable you to make a plan to improve things. X

Nice dress Rose, very sparkly! I too just bought something online from from Johnny Lulu's - a multipack of granny pants - you win the glamour prize - as usual!

magimedi · 25/10/2016 21:25

Rose - Lovely dress, but not black, please, please not black. I am SURE you are lovely enough to carry some colour.

None of us needs to wear black, it's so draining. Lets us all be a riot, please!

Rosebag · 25/10/2016 21:28

MM actually this time I was looking for an LBD specifically. Crepeys will know that I am not averse to colour...but the occasion forthcoming is not one for my bright red "hello rabbi" number alas.

GGG behind every glamorous outfit there is a pair of granny pants...essential in my case Grin

magimedi · 25/10/2016 21:34

Bright & 'hallo rabbi' would lighten up any occasion.

I just have a vast aversion to black........... probably because my mother always told me that was the colour I should wear as it was 'slimming'.

She was a size 8

I am a size 18.

'nuff said..............

Auriga and herbs sorry you've had a sh*te day.

May you sleep soundly and wake with (a bit more) joy in your hearts tomorrow.

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/10/2016 22:17

I am getting the vacuum cleaner/hoover to trial! Mind you, if they see the state of this place, they may purse their lips and take it right out again.

Today started out badly and I was in a foul mood, but it got better. Had flirting session/filthy exchange with That Colleague, which amused me and made me feel better about myself. I then went out for drinks with a very old friend, and someone I had never met, but with whom I had spoken daily in an earlier job. I'd also sat on an interview panel with him, where the three panelists were in three different countries, and the candidates in two other countries - time zones were a bit of a problem. We had such fun - it was as if I had always known this other chap - we got on really well straightaway.

Auriga - sister should be looking after herself first and foremost.

I am hoping, provided I have no short notice meetings with important people to join you tomorrow. I think I can get the 12 all the way, yes?

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/10/2016 22:21

And my second cousin once removed just texted me to invite me to the blessing of his marriage in an Orthodox church, followed by a reception on a boat on the Thames!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/10/2016 22:27

Sorry MM - the pants I bought are pink (but v v unglamorous) but I wear lots of black - sometimes I go wild and wear navy and grey... black suits me and I like it. Love seeing bright colours on others - but not me.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/10/2016 22:28

granny pants

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/10/2016 22:40
  • No disrespect to any Grannies intended.
Collymollypuff · 25/10/2016 22:41

Auriga - don't suppose you can join us in Sarf London? Sorry you're sad! We could cheer you up.

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/10/2016 22:42

GGG - they look like my Substantial Pants, but mine are cotton and modal from Emma Ness. And black. I can recommend, very comfy, and unlike the microfibre ones, not thrush-inducing. And you are a lot glammer than the pants, it has to be said.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/10/2016 22:48

Bought the pants to go with this lovely bra which is the same colour exactly as the middle of the pants!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/10/2016 22:49

not that pale pink on the link the BRIGHT pink 'smoothie' colour on that page...

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/10/2016 23:06

Nice bra. Mine are mostly red, bright pink or orange, although I do have a black one.

IDismyname · 26/10/2016 05:36

Bravissimo have stopped doing my fave bra, and have no acceptable substitutions. That site looks good, Giddy - I've found a few possibilities.

However, I got side tracked into the housecoat section, and am busy eyeing up a velour kaftan.

bigTillyMint · 26/10/2016 07:32

Nice bra GGG (Grin at comfy granny-pants) - they even do DD's size, but £££ - even more expensive than the Victoria's Secret ones I bought her a year ago which now seem a bit big (I did wonder when they were measuring her) - would her boobicles have shrunk or did they just get it wrongConfused
My bra's are all cheap and cheerful as small sizes are cheap and plentiful!

Cocoa, that sounds very 70'sGrin

Rose, the dress is lovely - glam but not OTT, and looks like it will come in very useful. I wish I had something to go to which needed a dress like that.... well, the staff Christmas do is actually in a smart bar place up west, so maybe...

Herbs, hope the day goes well today - will be thinking of you. Will you be able to have some Wine or will you have to drive back?

Got woken by next doors doggie at 3.30am, so feeling rather knackered already, but off to Bluewater later with DS for a mooch.
Rudy, no idea when he can get back to footy, but he is keen to, which is good as long as no one encourages him too soon looks at DH

magimedi · 26/10/2016 07:37

GGG - I love Sloggi pants & have worn Sloggi midi ones for about the last 20 years or so (not the same pair Grin ).

Sat watching the sun rise & the fog lifting off the downs - really lovely.
