Have you seen any nice BROGUES?

I'd like some flat or very-low heel brogues.

Not the kind with the very thick platform-ish sole.

Maybe in that nice dark red colour (oxblood). Or maybe just black.

Maybe with those patterny holes.

Not the part-black-part-white ones that make me think I should be a tap-dancing gangster.

Actually Clarkes Hamble might be suitable?

itstheyearzero · 08/10/2016 17:04

Hamble Oaks. I have them in pewter and I love them

Was about to say Hamble Oaks from Clark's, they are really comfy

Trills · 08/10/2016 17:04

How do you tap dance surreptitiously?

Is it not by its very nature an ostentatious action? :o

I have a pair of patent black Clarks Hamble - not bad at all. Also some brown brogue boots from Dune, really comfortable.

Trills · 08/10/2016 17:06

Is that three recommendations for the same shoes? Amazing!

Do I want black or the metallic... Maybe I want the metallic...

Trills · 08/10/2016 17:07

FOUR recommendations for the same ones.

And they do half sizes...

I have Clarks Hamble Oaks in pewter too! I love them Smile

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 08/10/2016 17:07

Just bought the Hambles in green. I love them. Though DH has started calling them my elf shoes. He is of course, wrong.

CJCreggsGoldfish · 08/10/2016 17:08

Another vote for Hamble Oaks from Clarks. I bought the tan pair last week and love them! There was a 20% off code, it might be worth seeing if you can find one (I had mine on a promotional card which they took from me so don't know it).

Trills · 08/10/2016 17:08

The website is calling it "gold metallic" but is that what you mean when you're saying pewter?

OP posts:
Buttonmoonb4tea · 08/10/2016 17:08

Hamble oaks here too, in tan. Love them.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 08/10/2016 17:09

Ummm.... the Hamble Oaks are comfortable, but I think the OP ought to be aware that in a survey, it was found that 6/10 primary school teachers own a pair*. Including me.

  • Not exactly MORI anecdotal evidence based on my experiences as a supply teacher
uggerboff · 08/10/2016 17:09

I have the oxblood Hambles from a few years ago. Love them!

itstheyearzero · 08/10/2016 17:10

No, mine are actually pewter. I got mine in TK Made though so maybe they were end of line??

PoochiePoo · 08/10/2016 17:10

I have the Clarks ones too. Wore them yesterday and walked loads - super comfy.

Trills · 08/10/2016 17:10

I am now torn between the colours that the website calls "aubergine" and "gold metallic".

I am fine with the primary school teacher thing but thanks for the warning Matilda :o

PrincessHairyMclary · 08/10/2016 17:12

I love my patent black Hambles, to add diversity to Matildas statistics I work in a secondary school.

KanyesVest · 08/10/2016 17:14

I have the aubergine hambles and I luffs them. They are more plummy than oxblood.

PNGirl · 08/10/2016 17:16

I controversially prefer Clarks Tomina Mia in black (strap monk shoes instead of brogues).

Trills · 08/10/2016 17:18

OK I'm going for the aubergine, since I did say that I wanted a reddish colour (no true oxblood available in this season's lines apparently). And I love purple.

Catdogcat · 08/10/2016 17:19

As an alternative to the hambles, which are lovely.

I have these:

They're gorgeous and I get loads of compliments on them.

Trills · 08/10/2016 17:19

The Tomina Mia are nice, but they are not the thing that I was looking for.
