What flat ankle boots are we going to be wearing this winter, especially with skirts and dresses?

Sharon: what size and for how much?! Love them ... love boots, to be fair ...

LumpySpacedPrincess · 20/09/2016 07:47

Love the design of Fly boots but they always leak, they seem to actively suck up water. Loving the red Chelsea dms.

BabyGanoush · 20/09/2016 08:02

Sharon, why was dh nit happy? Did he hate the boots?

hoddtastic · 20/09/2016 09:25

i've got 3 pairs of frye boots that are I wear on rotation (and have for years) I need new, flattish, ankle-ish boots in black/grey that will keep my feet warm and dry because winter is coming (I am contemplating Merrells FFS for daytime wear, save me from myself)

CosmicOwl · 20/09/2016 09:56

I'm trying to decide between these 3, need to try them on really as I just want the most comfortable.

Love the first ones if they're comfy cosmic

CosmicOwl · 20/09/2016 11:31

They're the ones I'm edging towards Didiusfalco. They can be worn either folded or up which I quite like too.

NoBetterName · 20/09/2016 11:42

I've had these Caterpillar Anna Kick Boots for the last three winters. They are very comfy and have been good value for money. I wear them with jeans rather than skirts though the day I'm seen in a skirt or dress is probably the day I've been taken over by aliens

Thurlow · 20/09/2016 12:06

I have a pair of brown Clarks Orinico Chelsea boots which I absolutely love, they will probably work with a few things. And also both black and tan Timberland style boots, the black ones look good with a lot of skirts and dresses.

So far I think I might not be swayed by new boots this year. I LOVE some of the boots mentioned above but as I'll be off on maternity leave and probably traipsing a pram around in the rain, I'm not sure even a slight heel will be much good

OK boot people - lots of talk about ankle boots and OTK boots....but where do we stand on good old long boots (i.e. under the knee) - riding style, or similar?

I have a couple of pairs from a few years back (a flat pair for jeans, and a heeled pair to wear with skirts at work), but are they totally out of fashion now? I suspect I know the answer....

MumboNumber5 · 20/09/2016 13:46

They may be cointreau, but I really want a flat pair.

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 20/09/2016 14:40

Two he saw it as waste of money. He's right of course.

SuperFlyHigh · 20/09/2016 16:45

Cointreau - for work etc I love long or mid calf boots - suede or leather and black preferably.

casual i can do ankle

Destinysdaughter · 20/09/2016 17:28

I think good quality boots are like coats, they are an investment and you should be able to wear them for a good few years. I do anyway! 😀

BlackIsTheNewBlack · 20/09/2016 17:32

I'll be wearing my Doc Marten Triumph boots in brown leather, brown leather Chelsea boots and chunkier black brogue Chelsea boots. I love boots!

RubbishMantra · 20/09/2016 18:12

There's a lot of the short cuffed type boots about that Isabel Marant was known for about 10 or so years ago.

And I would looove to splurge on these beauties.

Rainbunny · 20/09/2016 19:20

I LOVE boots and I wear them all year round anyway, they're so much more comfy than shoes. This is my current winter selection but i won't be surprised if I buy another pair(s...) - boots are my kryptonite ;)

Yay, good post - avidly reading all the recommendations on here!

I've worn the same battered pair of black suede biker boots for the past 5 years Blush, they're letting puddles in and all, but I am SO fussy I can't seem to find a replacement! I want some chelsea-type boots - ordered two (different brand) pairs, both real black leather, and have promptly returned them. Main problem is my ankles are very skinny and the boots just gape around them, even with jeans on! Anyone got any recommendations?! This time I wanted a style that I could wear with dresses and smart skinny jeans, not too bothered about a heel since I walk a lot. Looks like another (extremely thick-socked) winter in my bikers...

Rainbunny · 20/09/2016 20:54

I have very skinny calves - I look ridiculous in knee high boots usually as a result. Have you tried boot cuffs Osquito? I use them for my medium high boots and some ankle boots. You can knit them or buy them from places like Etsy.

rainbunny you star! StarFlowers...I've been googling and thinking and wishing all day that someone would invent something like this for boots wide around the calf! I'm buying these now!

Rainbunny · 20/09/2016 22:42

You're welcome HateSummer! I own several pairs and I think they look adorable with boots :)

I like the look of the Clarks Orinoco boots, but Fat Face have some nice ankle boots in this year. What do people think about suede? I don't normally buy it as I worry about what pouring rain does to it?!

Osquito · 21/09/2016 12:58

Thank you rainbunny, those are exactly what I should have had for biker boots!

Seen a pair of Dr Martens chelsea-style welly boots today, dark patent red... It's a bit out of my price range atm, but I think that's what I need this a/w.

MumboNumber5 · 21/09/2016 13:37

I find suede ok missy - spray it with protector before wearing for the first time, and brush if they get muddy.
