What flat ankle boots are we going to be wearing this winter, especially with skirts and dresses?

Those are Mum boots.

ReturnoftheWhack · 18/09/2016 17:42

Thanks grumpy! Horses for courses and all that.

Any ideas on grey?

Didiusfalco · 18/09/2016 19:17

Oh I like those too return. Which is a sure sign that they are not fashionable unfortunately.

Talisin · 18/09/2016 19:22

Velvet. Patterned. If they're floral patterned, even better.

ReturnoftheWhack · 18/09/2016 20:15

Thanks Did, Topshop last year!

I am 50 so don't think I can get away with over the knee Sad

Does this mean I can't wear my usual knee length riding boots though?

I bought these lovely Derby boots but I have no idea what to wear them with other than black skinnies. Can I wear them with skirts do you think? Any suggestions very gratefully received.

poppym12 · 19/09/2016 12:09

I've taken delivery of my Mustang boots this morning. Love em, so I don't give a rats ass whether they're fashionable or not Grin

Flingmoo · 19/09/2016 12:37

I'm wearing the two pairs I got last year, I just got them both re-heeled ready for Autumn/Winter. I'd rather spend £10 a year getting boots re-heeled than spending over £100 each year on new boots. The only thing is you have to catch them before they wear down too much, otherwise it's beyond the point of repair.

Normally I LOVE spending money and buying new things but I find it so hard to find my 'perfect' boots that I'd rather make my current ones last!

These are both pairs of my boots from last year, I like to think they are not 'mum boots' but who knows... (Not me in the brown boots pic, BTW, found it on Google). For knee highs I always go for the riding style boots. I've had stupid comments at work like "you look like you're going horse riding" etc but I just find them much more comfortable and versatile than boots with heels.

For me, the black ones pictured are in between 'smart' boots and 'winter' boots - comfy and durable enough for long autumn walks, but not so fluffy and chunky you can't wear them to work.

Mumboots?! On mumsnet?! Worn by.... Mums?! Whatever next Wink

I like those boots, but finding grey ones is tough.

I have been looking for grey suede ankle boots for years, but have given up now. sorry

bluebeck · 19/09/2016 13:35

mamushka I have those black boots. Are we still allowed to wear them if they aren't over the knee?

I like ankle boots, but I worry about wearing them with skirts and dresses, which is what I wear most of the time at work.

I am probably being really old fashioned and mumsy though Sad

randomer · 19/09/2016 14:32

I think Whutestuff do grey boots?

BabyGanoush · 19/09/2016 14:50

Blue, I think ankle boots with skirts/dresses can look really nice.

It's a matter of trying it out in the shop, wear a dress when you shop for ankle boots! Some work, some don't.

BigginsforPope · 19/09/2016 14:57

I've got these in the grey. I bought them last year though, they are comfy and must be fairly trendy because my teenage dd keeps "borrowing" them.

grey boots

sandragreen · 19/09/2016 15:01

I like them Biggins What do you wear them with? I am another one who wears knee high boots with skirts and would like to be able to carry off ankle boots or "shoe boots" as DD calls them.

BigginsforPope · 19/09/2016 15:34

I can't wear them with skirts - I think they are a bit too long in the ankle. I have a short ankle pair that go well with skirts/dresses.

The boots I link to I wear with skinny jeans ( khaki/black) and the seem to look good. Teenage dd wears them with anything and looks amazing!

FelixFelix · 19/09/2016 16:39

I bought these cherry red Dr Martens chelsea boots a few weeks ago. I finally got to wear them on Friday and they are gorgeous, incredibly waterproof and very comfortable Grin

Felix they look so much better on you than they do in the white background picture!

FlamingoFling · 19/09/2016 16:44

Just bought these - perfect

Those grey Rocket Dog boots look brown to me...

JudgeEpantz · 19/09/2016 17:26

Didn't our PM wear thigh boots last year?

hardtopinpoint · 19/09/2016 17:35

Look at mint velvet for grey suede ankle boots, they've got loads.

I'm coveting their over the knee boots, although I might have to set up a crowdfunding page to buy them....

CateNoviceBaker · 19/09/2016 17:36

I bought DM chelsea boots in both burgundy and tan AND grey Hudson Horrigan boots.

I'm very indecisive and rubbish at returning things. Boots are my soft spot though.
